Do you work in Media or plan too?
I have currently started to find myself working on movie projects with a small group of artists. I am not really there for the art direction of the films but I help organize things and make sure everyone is informed about what is going on. I also do odd jobs on set like some costume creation and set work. I guess they call me a P.A. or production assistant.
I am curious if any of you also do media type work for money or for fun and if you do what types of jobs you do. =) I am also curious if you have any plans to do work in media and what you would like to be doing if you got the opportunity. I am willing to leave this open to any media work, music, movies, TV, news jobs or anything that you think falls under media type jobs. What are your plans. ----- As for me I didn't really have any intention of working in media until I entered this friends group of people. I started doing what I could in the productions and have been helping ever since. I aspire to become a movie actress, I have been before in this summer program in middle school which was basically acting teachings and I really really enjoyed it and my eleven year old cousin motivated me because she acts in her school's drama club and has recently been in a real production.
I also plan to try to learn how to use Window's Media player and make music videos of my favorite movies, namely Twilight right now. I have several ideas for others too though, Charmed, and Quantum Leap. |

Do you have a plan for getting into acting? Have you applied for any local productions in your area? We found most of our actors through a craigslist cast call in Portland, Oregon. If you want to start trying to get into local productions I suggest you try looking there, you never know what you might get into. =) If you can't get into film as a main role another good way to start is as an extra on set and you will at least get screen time that way. If they have no extra roles available you could also become a Production assistant like me. A lot of the production assistants end up getting screen time any ways when they need an extra person in the shot. If you start volunteer you can work your way up and rub shoulders with better known actors. =) That is just some tips I have noticed from working on and behind set. Also if you haven't already, you should get some professional pictures taken of yourself and get yourself up on some of the online actor casting sites online where you could get calls to be in a production from people looking through your profile. Once you get some acting positions you can make a demo reel of your best acting moments for casters to look over. =) |
