Garbage Pail Kids

Is there anyone on here who remembers them? They were out about twenty years ago in the late eighties, and they were mockeries of the cabbage patch kids. Here is a list of some of the more popular ones: Nat Nerd, Vomiting Valeri, Windy Winston, and Sherri Cola were a few of the cards that were there. They even had nasty disgusting facts on the backs of them. I used to collect them by the hundreds when I was a kid. They even made a movie back in the day called Garbage Pail Kids. If there is anyone who remembers these cards, let's discuss.

I never had any, but I rememeber them. I'm a 90's kid. I remember watching the movie, and it just confused the hell out of me. I didn't get what the connection was to the Garbage Pail Kids, other than name and a couple of characters.

Kigome 01-26-2010 09:40 PM

As a child of the '80's, I remember them. My brothers liked to gross me out by them. lol :)

I have never heard of it but that makes sense as Twenty years ago I was three and I have never liked dolls.

Larxene 01-26-2010 10:39 PM

I don't remember those at all. o_O;; This is the first I've heard of these mock dolls, lol.

Well for the time it was a good funny movie, nice and nasty the way the director meant it to be.

@Kigome ~ Yea, I had an obsession with them myself.

@Bella_Cullen ~ These were just cards and they came with a great tasting piece of bubble gum. A mockery of the Cabbage Patch Kids.

@Sora`~ I'm sure if I still had them they may be worth some money. I thought they were really cool at the time.

I remember those! Never collected them but I remember other kids having them.

They were quite the thing back in the day. I remember passing them around in class and trading them with friends. I always hated when I got doubles, but it was just a thing that if you got a double you traded it at school with other students who may have had a card you didn't have and hopefully the double you had was one they didn't have. Too complicated lol!!

Oh my god, those revolting things were the bein of my life for months!

I've always had a weak stomach, but I was much worse when I was a kid. I'd see a GBK card, and then the image of it would pop into my head every time I tried to eat and I'd be put right off my food and feel really sick.

I've never been so glad to see a craze die.

That's funny, I know a lot of people who felt the same way as you did. Boys liked them for the most part, but there were a minority of girls who liked them too. I remember one thing a card said when it had crazy and weird facts on the back was that a peanut is neither a pea nor a nut, but actually a small rodent. I thought that was totally hillarious. Then I remember it was talking about Sagitarius traits and this was gross, it said, recycles own dandruff in hope of a dandruff recycling center. Yes, they were gross, but fun at the time and most likely worth some money now.

Four years ago? These cards were around twenty years ago. How did you come in contact with them?

I actually have a magnet and five stickers of garbage pail kids here in my office. The magnet is Mason Mace (he's headless and swinging a mace with his face on it). And the stickers are Dairy Barry (who's milking himself from what looks to be cow teats dangling from his face), Armless Aaron (who has stuck his arms into a snowman he's building), Furious George (looks like King Kong), Head Alexis (who is also headless and shopping with her head in a grocery cart) and my all-time favorite Turntable Tim, who is only two faces attached to a turntable.

This is a blast from the past yo. I loved Garbage Pail Kids in the 80s. XD

Nice!! Someone near my generation who really remembers!! That is so cool! Do you remember the Garbage Pail Kid movie as well? I had Nat Nerd, Vomiting Valeri, Sheri Cola where it showed a blond headed cabbage patch kid with a crack in her temple drinking cola out of a toilet with a straw. My favorite was Shut Up Shirley where it showed a girl cabbage patch with locks all over her mouth. My friend's mother's name was Shirley and she used to go on and on for hours about nothing. So her son took the sticker and smacked it on her ass. I totally laughed but boy was she pissed. I remember we even made up a game using the cards and the goal was to get rid of all of your cards using matches of the sort and before you made your last match you had to say "Garbage Pail Kids!" or you had to draw another card out of the pile. I remember they had these at Big Lots stores in not surprisingly, big old rubber garbage cans that were the seventy gallon ones. They had them for ten cents at the time!! I remember a time or two my friends and I were naughty and took a pack or two without paying :( I remember having piles and piles of them within a month! By the way I think it is really cool that you still have yours. Mine got either stolen or destroyed over the years sadly.

Mimiroppu 02-06-2010 11:25 AM

I remember them, and I know there was a movie, but I've never seen it and I never was a collector of the cards... I always found them too gross for my tastes. xD

AgnesGloom 02-06-2010 01:01 PM

Never had the orginals, but I had a ton of the ones they released some years ago. Wacky Packeges were great too.

Synthetika 02-11-2010 11:41 PM

I remember them ^_^ I was super young when they started coming out but my brother collected them and a few years after I got them as hand me downs. I actually have the garbage pail kids app on my iTouch now i had to get it just for the reason it was something from my childhood

Captain Howdy 02-12-2010 12:18 AM

Indeed I do. I remember a time when I was obsessed with them. I bought tons of those cards. And I did see the movie, years ago. I don't remember a thing about it. So I don't know what I thought then, but when I did an image search right now I gotta say those puppets are nightmarish.

danielley990 02-13-2010 03:51 AM

My Dad does ebay so hes always bringing home all these weird things and he brought home a bunch of the originals one day and begged him to let me keep them....my Mom said to get rid of them cause they were evil...lol...sad day.

pinkii 02-13-2010 07:30 AM

They still gross me out and I'm 21 xD
Seriously, their trading cards still disturb me to the point where I can't eat ._.

Voe 02-13-2010 02:53 PM

Aghh, I remember those revolting things. My brother used to collect them so obsessively. I watched the movie a while back and I still remember it because of how bad it was, LOL. The creepiness outweighed the nastiness by a lot.

I know. Some of them were just...wrong.

siaasgn 02-14-2010 04:05 AM

I totally used to collect them!

I remember that the back of them could be put together like a puzzle too

I probably still have some at my parents house - I should visit and see if I can find them!

Bunai 02-14-2010 08:38 AM

I love the GPK!! The artwork is always so awesome.
