That one small item of great importance.
 

So, I'm getting ready to step through the veil and back into the windows world, and I'm starting to assemble my transition kit. (Which is turning out to be harder than I thought, I'm apparently lost without synaptic) It got me thinking, however, about what's going to happen after I transition and find that one thing I was using that I'll be completely lost without and it made me curious about everyone else.

So, what's the one piece of software you use every day and you would be lost if it was missing?

edit: What the hell, I've got a laptop bag to outfit, too. What's the one piece of hardware you can't live without?

Software - VLC Media Player. It plays everything. XD
Hardware - I don't really use much special hardware on my laptop, but I would hate it if I couldn't use a wireless mouse. It's sooo damned annoying using a corded mouse with a laptop if you're not at a desk.

I don't have a mouse for my laptop at the moment and I may be dying a little inside every time I try to anything that really needs a mouse and I'm forced to use its crappy mouse pad.

CoreTemp is a fantastic piece of software, lets me know what temperature my computer is at

Microsoft Word, maybe? xDD;; Lulz, sounds weird, but seriously. I'm a Journ student, meaning I have to write papers and articles on a daily basis (no kidding =\), so any and all programs that will allow me to write would be essential. D:

But, I guess Photoshop would also be one. I don't get to draw and color on it often, but I do like to edit lots of my pictures when I take them, so I guess it would be very weird without it. =\ </3

As for hardware... my black softcase. xDD;; It's so mold-able (I forget the right term for it XP) and it cushions my laptop very well. =) <3<3
