Mandatory Introduction
Hi everyone, I'm Tara Generic, linked here from Facebook, but a long time player of Gaia Online.
I'm happy to find another paper doll based forum community, and may even consider posting, which I no longer do on Gaia. |
Yeah. I joined Gaia back when the address was go-gaia.com ...two months after it launched. I feel so old and yet I am not even that old.
I know how you feel. I've been fiddling with my avatar and accumulating fake clothing since June of 2003.
God. Mine was Feb of '02. Of course I have had a multitude of avs there since then. I was known as Glas there. I think this place might be better depending on the age range of people I meet. I don't mind the youngn's so much but it is nice to chat with people my own age.
I agree. And I don't like how huge the site has gotten, and how the focus seems to have drifted away from making the users happy, and more towards making the big wigs money. Not that I object to capitalism.
Seriously. Capitalism keeps the country going. You can't blame them for wanting to make more money and keep the sheeples happy at the same time. *shakes head* Gaia just isn't what it used to be. I'd love to get my hands on a Moderator here and have a chat with them about this site. Get to know the ins and outs, the pros and cons, the bits and bobs.
Yes. This site reminds of how Gaia was when they were new. Including the woefully slow gain of gold, which, while frustrating, is actually something that I prefer. It's good to make the community -work- for their gold.
Oh yeah. It keeps the caste system low. That is another thing I began to dislike about Gaia. The more gold you had, the cooler items you got (especially if you bought stuff) and then if you didn't dress awesome/cool/clone/goth, you were the lowest of the low. *scoff*
I'm pleased to be part of the super rich now, but it's really just from hoarding and from being around forever.
Lol. I am one of them too but...there are so many hobnobs of society now. Life there used to be like this: Two people chatting nekkid, not begging for gold. Just getting to know one another. Life is good. :)
Yes. There are a couple of things that I wish this site had that Gaia does, such as a way to organize the shop inventory and jigsaw puzzles, but so far I'm pretty pleased.
I am reading the site rules right now. They are pretty hardcore here in both the good and bad ways. I should go out and explore and see what other threads have to offer me.
It's nice to see some more older users here. :D I'm 28, so you guys aren't alone in being older.
Feel free to PM me if you have questions about the site. I'm more than happy to help answer! :D |
Thank you, Sizzla. It's nice to get a personal welcome from a mod.
{Edit} I got excited and actually forgot to say hello. I'm sorry. Hello! Welcome to Menewsha. ^.^
I'm still fairly new, but from what I've seen there's a fairly substantial older element to the site. I'm only 24, but still....it's weird going into a Gaia Chat and watching all the teenies clutter up the screen with nonsense. I especially enjoy the debate threads on here. It's been a long time since I could hold an intelligent conversation with people over something controversial without being called a dimwit or various slanders against my mother being posted. Not cool. As for the Gaia upper echelons....I started way back when, and stopped playing for years. I think I've finally made it to the middle class? I have a few million+ items, worked out the costs though. Honestly, the pricing for some of the items in Gaia translated to cash is worth a fair down payment on a house. It made me rethink everything in there again. The economy on here is much better. It takes a while to build up, but it happens, and items are reasonably priced in accordance. |
welcome
Thank you! I like your kitty scarf.
Welcome, Tara! I've been on Gaia for a very, very short time, and while I love my avvi there, I don't go back very much except to interact with the few friends I've made in the breedables section of the forum.
I'm a non-teen player too, I'm 23. I think that any place with fifty two shades of stockings has infinite potential XD. So, welcome again, and hope to see you around! |
Welcome, welcome!
I'm fairly new myself, haha, coming from Gaia, just like many others. o uo;; |
I am also delighted at the incredibly large number of colors available on most items. My favorite thing on Gaia was dressing up my virtual paper doll, and I'm pleased to have an entirely new pool of items to play with.
I hear you! Looks like these items will be a lot of fun to mix-and match, given that each comes in such a variety. Nice to see that you've got yourself some basic clothing.. I've decided to wait a wee bit longer before I splurge on the items that I think I want now.
I wanted to wait, too, but I couldn't stand being naked. I was too embarrassed to post anywhere.
I tried to resist, but at the risk of sounding both corny and creepy, I'll have to say - Flaunt what you've got! (until you get more)
It is a little embarrassing, but I notice that there are several unclothed people posting all around, so that makes me feel a wee bit better about it. I like your outfit - it looks comfy. |
I bought clothes that look like what I would actually wear. They are comfy!
Gosh that's something I've done on another site, but I think I will favour the colourful on here. Colourful and fanciful both, oh gleeness.
