Nao, I have to write a paragraph.. But it's not a regular paragraph, it's a big bad scary 15-sentence structured paragraph that requires topic sentences and PEE structures and it's making me feel nauseous.. Or maybe that's just me being sick.. Whatever, I just don't want to go to school tomorrow!!!!
The shittiest thing about it is that I would have absolutely no problem with this assignment, but I couldn't think of thematic topics and then topic sentences for the first part of the paragraph... I've been trying to think about three of them (the requirement) for a whole damn WEEK now.. :cry: I'm seriously about to cry because of this absolutely ridiculous assignment.. I want to transfer out of the class and take stupid-people english or something... :cry:

But I'm sick, so it would be a good excuse >.<

I know thematic topics would be Racism, Slavery, gender roles (in the 1800s in the south), and.. Uhm.. Well, things like that..
But I cannot for the life of me come up with one single theme statement.
In "Desire's Baby", Kate Chopin shows how women were viewed as inferiors in the 1800s.
Kate Chopin uses "Desire's Baby" to show how race effects the lives of both men and women in the 1800s.

Well, I think the title is trying to make the reader think even before they read the piece that the baby is purely the woman's, and not the man's at all..
As in, the baby is born black, and her husband blames her (Désirée) completely for it. She was able to take the blame because she was found alone as a child with 'uncertain parentage', and the husband was supposedly born from a noble all-white family.
In actuality, the husband's father had traveled to France and met a black woman who he fell in love with, married and had a child (Désirée's husband) with.. So Désirée kills herself with the baby because her husband has condemned her and HIS child, thinking that SHE was black and was "bringing shame" upon her husbands pure name and lineage.

(Also, it makes more sense with the accents: Not desire as in lust, but a name: Désirée's Baby)

Okay. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm just going to write whatever crap I can come up with >.< It's better to get a grade I think and have the teacher think you're a really crappy writer than fail the class.....
