No matter what anyone says, AFI is definitely my favorite band of all time. And yes, I'm aware they used to be punk, and I first heard them on a borderline-punk album

Anyway, if you're an AFI fan, would you mind answering some questions for me? It's just a curiosity thing, and I'd really like to meet some other AFI fans

1. What's your favorite song?
2. Why do you like the band?
3. What was the first album you heard by them?
4. What is your favorite album?
5. What do you think of 'Crash love'?

1. I have so many favorites. We'll go with "Now the world"; "jack the ripper" (even though it's a cover); "the interview"; "the last kiss"; "days of the phoenix"; "the great disappointment"; "this time imperfect"; "okay, I feel better now"; "rabbits are roadkill on route 37"
Just to name a few XD

2.I like the band for many reasons. A. They change their sound every album and they never get boring. B. Davey Havok is a lyrical genius and I've never seen a better lyricist than him C. I love Jade's guitaring D. They're one of the only bands that has bass leading on a lot of songs (most of the time the bass is hidden in other music)
I could probably keep going on, but I'll stop there

3. My first album was "the art of drowning"

4. My favorite album is probably "Sing the sorrow"; though "black sails in the sunset" comes in as a close second

5. I was really worried that "crash love" was gonna suck, but I'm not disappointed at all, even though it wasn't quite what I expected

I really like Miss Murder, Killing Lights, and 37mm

I love the lyrics to the songs, for some reason they really mean something to me.

Sing The Sorrow was one of my favorite albums years ago. Too bad I don't have it anymore T_T

I have a lot but some are : "Rizzo in the Box", "Ny-Quil", "Clove Smoke Catharsis" , "The Despair Factor", "Days of the Phoenix", "Dream of Waking", "Now the World", "The Interview", "Endlessly She Said"

I like how they change their sound with every album. I like that they actually really care about their fans unlike most popular bands. I like their stage-presence.

Probably The Art of Drowning.

I liked it actually. I like the new sound. I really like the song "Sacrilege" because it sounded (at least to me ) like some of their older stuff.

I haven't listened to them in forever. I'm going to have to dig up my CDs. I know I have a couple somewhere. But it's been so long I really don't remember much haha.

Yeah I had never heard of them until Miss Murder came out, but once I found out about them I did research and found that they had been around since 1991. I got all the albums and realized how good their older stuff was. I actually prefer the old stuff.

Eeep! I'm so happy that I found this thread. *-* AFI has been my absolute favorite band for the past...*counts on fingers* 6, almost 7 years!

I'm really attached to "Narrative of Soul Against Soul," but there are a lot that I enjoy listening to.

Why would I not like them? xD I think, first of all, it's great to see their progression through the years. I also think they have a certain poetic quality about them that really gets to the core of people's emotions. They seem like incredibly nice men who know what they want in their lives and don't really take anyone's crap. And really, the AFI fandom, whether Despair Faction members or not, is just a huge family.

Sing the Sorrow. I had found out about the band and decided that I wanted to listen to some of their music. I was fourteen at the time, in Bismarck with my mom, and that was the only CD available.

Another difficult question! It used to be Answer that and Stay Fashionable, but I think I've fallen madly in love with Sing the Sorrow over the years. Well, and Black Sails in the Sunset. That's an amazing album as well.

If nothing else, I definitely appreciate it more now than when I first bought it. When I first purchased it, I was kind of disappointed. The songs had a lot of the same tone to them, so they all kind of sounded alike. Over time, though, I've grown to really like it. It's not my favorite, but it's a good album. (Although I always get a little jealous listening to it. One of my online, Myspace acquaintances, Christy Vegas, is one of the background voices. She won one of the "Begin Transmission" contest slots. xD)

So has anyone here ever been to one of their concerts? What did you think? I was able to go during their Decemberunderground tour. I was sixteen at the time. I think I was about four rows away from the front of the crowd? xD It was in the Qwest club in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which I guess doesn't exist anymore. Oh man. The guys have so much energy, and the crowd just felt like one big family. <3

I think Prelude 12/21 is my favorite song by AFI; I love driving around with the windows down in the summer & blaring that song. Haha. I really really like quite a few others, though, too -- This Celluloid Dream, Death of Seasons, Miss Murder, 37mm, & Halloween (almost as much as I like the Dropkick Murphy's cover of the same song).

They've just got a good sound, and Davey's got a very... erm... interesting voice. That scream thing he does is amazing. Haha.

Sing the Sorrow was when I first got into them. I've listened to their older albums, but I'm gonna make everyone hate me and admit that I like Sing the Sorrow & Decemberunderground more than the earlier ones.

Definitely Sing the Sorrow. Can't argue with awesome.

Honestly, I haven't heard it. I heard their new single on the radio earlier today, and it didn't really trip my trigger. I doubt I'll buy this album unless they release another single that somehow makes up for the current one being so bland. =/

I'm with you there, fatalrain! AFI has been my favorite band for as long as I can remember. A lot of people have tried telling me that it's stupid that I like them, but I seriously can't help it. I just love their music and I'm very sure that I always will.

First song was Day of the Pheonix. But, first whole album was Sing the Sorrorw.

It is WAY better than Decemberungerground. But not as good as everything else.
