Case and point

~LONGCAT~ 01-14-2013 12:18 AM

XD Gigglefest'13 going down right here. I understand it's an obnoxious phrase said by dumb scene-kids, but I don't see the point in disliking a word just because of dumb people.... (says the person who can't stand 'Behooved' )

Senpai 01-14-2013 12:18 AM

Mystic; OUCH! D:

Hey, LO. How are you? I'm doing alright. Being lazy on a Sunday night! XD

Poet; Lawls. But... piggies are yummy. Bacon comes from them. [love]

The Wandering Poet 01-14-2013 12:21 AM

what does behooved mean? I've heard brohoof but not behooved...

My problem with that word is the people who say it not the word. It's not that bad of a phrase except people see it as "No regrets" instead of "don't mess it up" like it was when I was little

Kirin Rosenbaum 01-14-2013 12:23 AM

*glomps her thread*

Mystic 01-14-2013 12:23 AM

*rolls around on the floor*

~LONGCAT~ 01-14-2013 12:23 AM

Ugh. behooved is just a terrible word that sounds terrible and is awful. It's just a different way to say beholden (and a bit less in the severity of meaning).

The Wandering Poet 01-14-2013 12:25 AM

sounds like a broney term...

Mystic 01-14-2013 12:25 AM

I thought the same thing, Poet. O.o;

Senpai 01-14-2013 12:26 AM

::follows Mystic and rolls around::

Behooved sound like something you'd do to a horse. Lawls.

Yolo is a fad. It'll end quicker than the idea of fat free bacon.

~LONGCAT~ 01-14-2013 12:26 AM

nope. Ye olde English. not MLP. XD

Mystic 01-14-2013 12:28 AM

*spreads glitter around*

My vocab just sucks in general. XD

Senpai 01-14-2013 12:30 AM

Well, there's my problem. XD I generally try to learn new words everyday, and attempt to use them... I just fail at it. Haha.

~LONGCAT~ 01-14-2013 12:31 AM

I like being able to use accurate words when talking. Although I find that I often have to dumb down my vocab at work. Because being able to use the term "fecundity" and having customers (and co-workers) understand me are two completely different things

Mystic 01-14-2013 12:31 AM

I used to try to learn a new word a day that lasted a few months then I just gave up on it.

I also took a class on proper word usage when I was in school for radio stuff and that was interesting.

The Wandering Poet 01-14-2013 12:32 AM

*hides in a cabinet* Me no want glitter herpes

~LONGCAT~ 01-14-2013 12:33 AM

hmm... A class on proper word usage? I kinda want to know. I've had to learn mostly through trial and error (aka really confused faces) what I can use and what I can't.

Mystic 01-14-2013 12:34 AM

I think I'm already infected with glitter herpes. [:(]

Rolling around on the ground with glitter will do that.

---------- Post added 01-13-2013 at 07:35 PM ----------

Longcat: Yep, the book was interesting though I can't remember the title off the top of my head right now. It had how to pronounce the word, how people commonly use it then the real use of the word.

~LONGCAT~ 01-14-2013 12:41 AM

Awesome. I work with a lot of people who dropped out of high school so I sometimes just want to hit their heads together when they say really stupid things. I had one person try to tell me that ticks were tiny land crabs... which is almost true? in the same way that we are really big lemurs.

Mystic 01-14-2013 12:44 AM

Longcat: Ha, Yeah I hear some pretty odd things too. It's like "Where the heck did you hear that from?!". I totally understand with getting frustrated with people that don't bother to educate themselves. I mean it's one thing to drop out of school but it's another not to even bother learning anything.

dessertdesiert 01-14-2013 12:47 AM

I am so easily distracted xD

Mystic 01-14-2013 12:48 AM

Distractions...phish. What's an attention span anyway? I see a shiny object and I get distracted. [:P]

~LONGCAT~ 01-14-2013 12:51 AM

I get really frustrated because I went to a scientific college so when one of the older co-workers I have tells me, "Oh that's not true I heard it was this..." sometimes I want to scream... and then drown them.
One lady tried arguing with me that if humans got "spongiform encephalopathy" (aka Mad Cow) that it turned into what she called "elephant man disease" (elephantiasis) and that it was only contagious if you got the virus... *CUE HAIR PULLING*

Mystic 01-14-2013 12:53 AM

Longcat: XD Sorry but that's pretty funny. I would have just laughed at her honestly.

*puts some glitter in Poet's cabinet*
