Hmm~
What kind of paper was it?
With colored pencil, you want to sharpen it to a point then press the point down on a piece of scrap paper a bit until it's a soft, rounded tip - then you lightly and softly color :3
To shade, you go over again a little harder :3
That way, the shading is all smooth, together, and blends well :3

And no worries on the hands - mine come out terrible as well LOL
I need to study them more - I just haven't had time~
I figure since I'm going to college for art anyways, I'll have my chance then :3

Not sure I'd want to know what happened in that class. Though it couldn't be much worse than walking into the boys' locker room while they were getting changed.

It was super thin bad paper :gonk: and as for the shading It wasn't meant to be shaded well as it was a doodle. and I colorded it on a bad old besk with lots of nicks in it so naturally it wouldn't turn out even at all.

As for the speed of the thread... well I'm quite proud of it.
