Things might be going right for once! So happy I could cry~

If anyone has ever seen my threads here in LI, most would remember that none of them are very happy. My problems ranged from parental abuse, parent being stuck in a mental hospital, being dead ass poor, boyfriend sex issues and all kinds of good stuff.

Well, I took my ACT test just recently. ( Took it very late in the game after being homeschooled/fucked over by a non-accredited home school program ) And I was absolutely terrified of it. My math skills are terrible and I hadn't taken a standardized test since 7th grade. I was completely convinced I was going to fail it.

However! I just got back my scores and I did plenty well enough to get into the college that I want! ( I got a 30 in English, which I'm really proud of. The rest of the scores besides math were 20's ) And while it's all well and good that I got a nice score and can start classes..

That also means I can move out of the house that I'm in now - more specifically, I can move out and away from my mom whom I've never liked anyway. I'll be able to move in with my boyfriend and a friend of ours. We've found a house for rent to own at $700 a month and with three people splitting costs, that's going to be incredibly affordable! I'll be working and receiving a full Pell Grant too anyway. I should be able to pay for all of my share just fine~!

I'm so excited. This is going to be like completely starting my life over!

Oh well done you! :D That's great!

Actually it's really nice to hear, because I've been in a simular situation myself for quite some time, gives me a bit of hope, you know? :)

Congratulations! ACTs are particularly good to take if your math skills are poor. I took the SAT in high school about three times and I always did poor on the math, and my highest score ever was like a 1400/1500(which blows to me). I wanted to take the ACT but I never found the time.

I was going to say that $700 a month is expensive, but it shouldn't be a problem if you're splitting costs between three people.
Glad things are finally starting to look up for you!

Woot! You go girl! Or boy. Avatars don't say much.

That's amazing! I'm glad things are going your way! Make the best of every moment! :) You'll love college! There's so much freedom! haha! Just don't get overwhelmed by how much freedom there is. That's how a lot of students get kicked out.

@Huffie

Sometimes things can only go up, ya know? c: Even when it gets really bad, just remember that there's always a good side to things. And heck, if you believe in karma, just think of all the bad stuff you're going through right now as an AMAZING way to build good karma for later if you handle everything well. :heart: You'll make it through just fine! PM me if you ever need some support or someone to talk to!

@Deviant

Jeez. I dunno if the ACT is always better for math testing but it might be true for most of the ACT test versions. I was unlucky enough to get one of the REALLY FREAKING HARD math booklet versions, though I've heard there's some that are so easy that it's nearly humiliating to even have to take that section. But I have to say, I really made up for it in the other sections. I even got a 30 out of 36 on my reading portion! ( I'm sure I noted that earlier, but it bears repeating! ) I think the other sections really floated me through the math that I did so horribly on.

And yeah. If I was doing $700 a month solo, I think I'd be broke the first month. xD But actually, I won't even have to pay the first two months if we get the place. My boyfriend is shouldering the first two months of rent by himself! That is, of course, followed by me and our roommate splitting the bill for the next two months by ourselves, but that's really not too bad.

@Runes

I'm a lady-type. cx And thank you!

@masked_egg

xD Oh, don't worry. I'm not going to play around. ( This school is definitely known for NOT being a party school. We don't even have the room for it on campus, but it's amazing academic wise. ) I just can't wait to get out of the house and actually live life for once!

I'm so happy for you! Congratulations on earning your freedom!

nightlydeity 02-24-2010 02:55 AM

YAY!
I am glad to hear you did so well on your ACT (though i never heard about the other issue).
I thought I did terrible on my SAT, but I think it is because they do throw super hard questions out there, and that could just to see who are the Stephen Hawkings.....

That's great! I was a complete wreck before I left home and move several states away to college...being away from all that aggravation and disappointment was worth it--I was finally able to start my LIFE. Hopefully you'll have a likewise positive experience!
