Celestian Stepping [Sinspiration-x-Eloquent]
"The town you're going to is called Pelsvein."
Quinn rested in the back of the cart he had hired a place one, his arms crossed behind his head as it was pulled along by the horse that was being driven by its own, he looked up at the sky quietly, smiling to himself it was almost time, he couldn't wait, he had been pent up with excitement about his first solo mission for some time. "The details are sketchy but a demon has been causing the townspeople trouble. Evidence to the fact is that the bodies of the people it feeds off become husks." "Time to wake up kid, Pelsvein up ahead." The driver called. The young man sat up like a shot, shifting back and leaning against the side as he looked over at the man, "Nice, thanks for the ride, old man," "Dunno why you'd wanna be comin' to a place like this anyway.. What with the demon attacks goin' on.." The driver started but Quinn chuckled, hitting his own chest softly, "Exactly why I'm here, old man," "The husks attack anyone nearby and normally takes several people to take down, but thats why we train people like you. Investigate Pelsvein, track and locate the demon then eliminate it.. Good luck." "What're you sayin' kid? Yer here to deal with the demon?" "Names Quinn Argent, sir, I'm a Templar." He replied, the old man looking over his shoulder for a moment with a raised brow but then looked forward again, "Yer still pretty young.. Hope they ain' sending some kid to his death here.." "I'll be fine." Quinn replied, standing up in the cart so he could watch as the nearby buildings encroached, slowly beginning to pass as they went further into the small town, Quinns guns were holstered behind him and he placed his hands on his hips, taking in a deep breath then sighing, he couldn't wait to get started. As the cart came to a halt he vaulted off the side of it, hitting the dirt road softly and walked up alongside where the driver was, looking about at the town as he continued, "God bless ye lad, yer gonna need it if one o'dem husks come yer way." "I said dont worry bout it, old man, I can handle it." He replied one more time, waving a hand and breaking away, deciding to walk around the town and get his bearings around the place. |
Helena sat on the back of a wooden bench, almost in silence as she stared ahead into her town. The streets were almost deserted, however the area she remained sat in seemed to be the only place full of residents of the town. She had been there a while, a maximum of three hours since she had heard rumors that the demon preferred to appear in the southern region of Pelsvein. In the south of the town, there had been a lot of festivals during the few spring months leading through to summer and it became a perfect target for the demon to have it's fun. Although, others didn't find this creatures 'fun' to be quite so amusing.
Helena sat with a blank expression, not watching any where in the area, in particular. Now and then she would keep her eye on one person, someone she found to be suspicious looking or that lingered around the younger groups for a while. Growing bored and tired of finding nothing, she sighed quietly and jumped down from the bench, in yet another search for something, anything she could use as evidence to find the demon quicker. [ .. that is a poor start I've done, couldn't think. bleh. ;-;' xD ] |
Quinn wandered rather fervently around the town, for the most part listening to what people he could hear occasionally when he passed. No-one was afraid of him, he wasn't exactly a terrifying figure that scared those who saw him. His nice face and youth made him less than what people expected so he took advantage of this trait. He stopped by one old lady whom was struggling to carry a bag and offered his hand,
"Old mother, may I help you?" He asked, the lady looking up at him cautiously before handing the bag to him and he followed her quietly, smiling as he went until they got to her home where he left the bag with her and waved "G'bye now," "Take care out there youngster. Dont go south neither, the demon likes-em young an' fresh." He looked at her a moment when she spoke of the demon, keeping the information in mind when he turned around. So the demon had been attacking the south of the town? He could find traces of its essence then! Once Quinn was sure that the old woman wasn't looking, mostly because he didn't want to concern her, he immediately broke into a sprint, each step kicking dust into the air. He ran at an unnatural speed as streams of air whispered past him, with energy concentrated throughout his body he could move faster than normal. With the streets so clear because people were afraid to leave their homes he didn't have to worry about knocking people over. As he approached the south district he came to a skidding halt, the sound of the dirt and gravel being ground beneath his feet as he slid along the earth, a long dust-trail lifting up behind him and he stood confidently there for a while, breathing in then sighing, "There we go, south district huh..?" He stretched a moment, yawning then placed his hands together in a prayer position, a silent prayer now that he was ready to hunt for the demon. After a minute he dropped his hands, placing one on his hip, "So.. Where to look first.." |
Helena took in a deep breath of air, before stepping forward and exhaling. She walked slowly toward the fountain at the town centre, knowing she would gain a better view of everything there. As she walked, she dodged the few children playing tag in the street, grinning slightly at their carelessness.
When Helena had reached the fountain, she looked into the water at her reflection and brushed her fringe away from her face. She stared with a scowl before standing straight and looking around, her eyes searching for the demon again. Still, nothing. |
Quinn walked a little further into the south district.. It definitely looked more dead than the rest of the town. His eyes quickly spotted a mark on a building, an old stain of blood on wood. Were people so frightened they couldn't come out and clean such things away..? It made his job easier though as he made his way over quickly, placing his hand across the stain.
He closed his eyes concentrating the energy within again and drawing on the essence of the blood, when a person died their last moments were captured within the surrounding objects, in their blood. He could extract their essence and- A distant scream, an image flooded his mind as he watched the person to whom the blood belonged get torn down by a Husk, damn.. Not the demon. He sought in deeper, reaching into the body of the person in his mind, staring up at the husk. he could feel the tearing of flesh, the Husks fingers slowly ripping flesh away.. A link.. Perfect.. He crossed over again, staring down at the body of the man being murdered, what a horrific sight.. He hated using this ability, being int he body of a monster felt so empty.. Hollow.. He understood at least why these things were called husks. But he had to regress further. He watched everything the husk had done in reverse, the lives it had taken,t he people it had stalked, the bodies it had feasted upon up until he saw the very demon that had taken him. Oh great.. Quinn stared at the creature for a while, grimacing slightly, Shapeshifter.. Quinn returned to his own body standing up suddenly and gasping for breath, going so far into the dark was never recommended but as a Templar it was his duty to stand in all the dark places that no other should dare. Facing the darkness was his way of life. He turned around to look at the street leading into the district, "Damn thing's probably wandering in between people right now, looking for its next victim.." he looked back north suddenly, did he just hear a scream..? "HUSKS!!" A man yelled in the town center. this call immediately sending the people into panic. Where the guards had trouble dealing with one or two of the monsters, there were several running down an alleyway nearby, coming out into the open and screeching. Their flesh was paled, dull empty eyes looking out at the people as they began to run around wildly, chasing down the fleeing humans and launching themselves at them in a feral rage, sometimes missing, they weren't the most maneuverable beasts but they were strong and they were quick. |
Helena jumped as she heard the word 'Husks' being shouted and immediately jolted forward toward where the voice had shouted it.
She ran as quick as she could, almost too quick and slid across the floor. Once she caught balance, she jogged to the man who had been yelling and placed a hand on his arm. "Where are they?" She asked with a serious expression. As he looked back, he frowned with worry etched across his face and pointed in the direction of the most chaos and commotion. With a simple nod and the push of his arm, the man began to run in the opposite direction, a safe direction - trying to get away as quickly as possible. Helena watched in shock as the chaos grew and the terrifying screams became louder. A scowl on her face, she ran forward, through the crowds in search of the exact whereabouts these demons were and it wasn't long till they were found. |
Crap crap crap..! Shoulda stayed north, shoulda stayed north!
Quinn complained in his mind as he ran in the direction of the town center, he wasn't sure if he'd even get there in time to stop them doing a great deal of damage but he sure could try. He'd just have to be as quick as possible. The husks had managed to take down a number of people, three of them pinning down and tearing into some screaming victims, two males, one woman, a fourth man had been taken down, but strangely enough the Husk was only dragging him by the leg, was it carrying him away? The fifth husk pounced on a man whom had been running with a child in his hands. The girl falling from his grasp and rolling but eventually managed to get up and stare as the monster bit down on her fathers neck, though he cried for the girl to flee. The husk snarled, looking up at the girl, its jaw and chin painted with blood from the mans shoulder. It was staring at the girl quite hungrily, jaw opening to let a further flood of red escape its lips. The being was preparing to pounce her, rearing back then launching forward. It didn't get very far as something landed on it. a heavy shaking could be felt as a boot planted down on the back of its skull and crushed its face into the ground. Quinn reached down quickly and picked upt he girl, jumping away from the Husk as it pulled itself back up, howling in rage. The others looked up and paying attention to the young man in white as he placed the child down at the side of the street, "Go, quickly now, I'll save your daddy, okay..?" Quinn winked at her and looked over his shoulder just as the Husk he'd interrupted jumped towards him. With a swift upwards kick the creature was caught off, an audibly loud crack being heard as it sailed up into the air, flipping over backward so that it would land on its legs again but bending over from the blow. The creature looked up just in time to see Quinn running toward it, but was far too late to stop the crushing blow of his knee hitting it int he underside of the chin and sending it up into the air, Quinn going up with him where he delivered a heavy ankle-shot to its belly and sent it crashing down the street before he landed, staring over at the other four. he hadn't killed the first one he attacked yet, but at least it had to recover first, "It's party time, boys and girls!" |
Helena managed to lead most people out of the way, pointing them into a safer direction. Glancing to the side of her, she watched as Quinn made battle with one of the husks. A scowl appeared on her face, proving she wasn't amused or grateful of this person trying to help. She questioned his actions for a moment before hearing a loud roar behind her.
The second she turned, the scowl turned to shock as she stepped back to see a husk watching her movements and following her in any direction she stepped in. Blood dripped from its mouth quite quickly, proving it had not been long since it last attacked someone. The husk launched itself toward her and she quickly side stepped away from it in an attempt to dodge its attack. Thinking quickly, she leaped into air and slammed herself down onto its shoulders, forcing it to fall forward aimlessly into the concrete. After doing so, she jumped to the left of the creature and watched it get up, acting unharmed and now even more angry. A slight smirk appeared on her mouth as she watched blood drip from its shoulder and once again, throwing itself at her but this time, succeeding in pinning her down. Helena winced loudly as it bit her arm but grabbed it's jaw with her free hand and ripped it away from her skin before kicking it over her head and throwing it into the wall, leaving it helplessly led in it's own blood, now harmed by the impact with the building. However, the battle wasn't yet over, for anyone. |
Quinn looked at the husks a while but noticed one turning on Helena, well at least it turned the odds around for him a little, now he only had three and one recovering to deal with, not bad odds he supposed. He watched them carefully until one made the fatal mistake of giving awya its movements, it charged toward him, howling furiously and launching at him.
The young man spun on his heel, throwing a kick into its gut and stopping it midair as he reached behind himself, grabbing the guns crossed behind his hips and held them up, finding the prime targets. "Hit husks in the head or the heart, Quinn, or break their neck, but don't forget their necks are a lot harder than ours." Quinn angled the guns and squeezed the triggers once. The back of the husk's head blew out, his chest also imploding under the bullet. Its body crashed to the ground and Quinn spun again, aiming one gun over his chest, the other holding out at length and he fired on the second husk, both bullets sinking into its skull and sending it rolling backward. the third one jumped out of the way, hopping in between various obstacles and stopping Quinn from firing until it was close enough to attempt leaping at him. Quinns body seemed to warp as he dodged to the right, his body was angled forward as if he were running at speed, the guns outstretched behind him. A glowing blue trail of light behind him showed his movements. the creature was behind him, still int he air when he fired the guns, blind-firing the husk. it hit the ground and tumbled along until it came to a stop, twitching for a while before stopping dead. He stood straight and holstered the two guns behind him calmly, staring in the direction of the recovering husk and getting into a ready stance as he awaited its approach whilst smirking to himself, "Last one..!" |
Helena quickly finished off the husk that attacked her as well as another which launched itself in her direction. After finishing her own battle, she leaned against the wall and slid down it to a sitting position - exhausted from lack of sleep from searching for so long. She watched Quinn in completely silence, contemplating who he was and why he was in her home, her own place.
She bit down on her tongue in an attempt to ignore the pain in her arm though it were impossible to really do so. |
Quinn watched as the one he'd knocked down earlier finally charged up to him once again, he however drew his left hand back slowly, energy gathering around inside until it manifest as a pure white light. He thrust his palm forward, a large white cross of light intercepting the creature. It howled in pain as the holy light caused it to explode into ash, orange embers raining down past Quinn and he smirked to himself before wandering over tot he downed father, pulling a flash from his left pocket.
He emptied some of the contents onto the bite wound in his shoulder, patting the man on the back. He was still breathing, this was good, the liquid would kill the infection before it spread and transformed him. Quinn then looked over to the woman who had fought off a couple husks herself and jogged over to her quickly, holding the flask out to her, "Pour this on the wound, or you're gonna turn into one of them." He warned quickly, though his eyes flicked tot he right, something was near. He placed the flask down and sprinted a small distance away from her, turning around a corner and drawing his guns. "Some of these creatures like to stay nearby, watch their work.. Their arrogance is often their downfall, keep mindful, try to sense them if you can." Quinn stared at the figure a small ways south, the moment it saw him it turned and fled, Quinn firing several times after it before pulling a face, "Aw man.. I'll get you yet!!" He yelled at the retreating demon, then checking his guns and holstering them behind him, turning his head to look in the direction of the young woman, placing a hand on his hip, "You alright over there?" |
Helena stared, watching him.
"Thanks." She mumbled quietly and almost ungratefully. She tipped some of the liquid onto the bite and scowled at the injury as she felt the burn of it. She placed the flask back onto the ground and stared at her arm, not wanting to look back up at the boy who had helped since she had never been one who wanted others to help her out. Helena looked up for a moment to check if anything else was around then once against looked to her arm in complete silence. |
Quinn stared at her for a while, wondering why she didn't answer.. But he supposed it didn't matter. He walked over to her, picking up the flask and stared at her arm for a moment, pocketing the vial again and looked over to the downed man as he got back up slowly, in time to see his daughter running back. Quinn smiled a little then looked at Helena, resting his hand on his hip again,
"You should get that bandaged up. Now if you'll excuse me, there's a demon I have to run to ground.." He moved back to the corner where he'd shot at the demon from, taking out the magazines from his guns and slotting a fresh pair in. As for the last two he placed them in his pocket, he'd probably need them and he could always put more ammo in later. The young man placed the guns behind again and closed his eyes. He reached out with his mind sensing for the energy of the creature, it was a mistake for it to get so close to the field because now he had a trail to follow, he could feel himself going through the city quickly, searching everywhere down the street until he could sense exactly where the demon was, and it was getting further away, "Oh no you don't," Quinn drew one of his guns and aimed at the nearby bodies of the dead facilities, one of them had twitched, they would have turned anyway.. He fired on each of the bodies in turn, splitting their skulls easily before he looked down the street again. The demon was getting further away but it wouldn't escape, this mission had gone quickly and quite well.. He holstered the gun one more time and tapped the ground with the toes of his boots, first the right, then the left. He was stretching quickly so he could run again, concentrating energy for the sprint, he'd chase this demon all day if he had to, quicker he got rid of it, the better, especially for these people. |
Helena sighed quietly and got to her feet once the stinging of the bite had gone and began walking to the east of the town, now knowing that the south would be clear of any more danger. As she walked along the streets, she glanced at the blood steins across the walls and frowned slightly imagining how people must be thinking now. If they've lost a loved one, someone they knew, how much longer they would have left to live.. something no-one could honestly help because the damage had already been done.
The moment she got to the east of the town, she noticed how vacant it was. All shops were closed, some had shut down completely, all doors were locked and all windows were covered by curtains or wooden boards. The only thing she could see open from where she was stood, was the chemist. Perfect, since she needed bandages. When she thought about it, she shook her head in disgust and realised she was taking the advice of the boy who 'helped' her before. With a small frown, she walked into the chemist and over to the shelves displaying various plasters and bandages. She took a box of bandages, special for large wounds and purchased them at the counter. Once she had left, she carefully tied it round her arm and put the box away in her bag and sighed, looking around in search of the demons once again. |
"Oh man! Oh man! Oh man!!" Quinn yelled, on the run from a number of husks, it seemed that the demon had quite a collection of guardians, what was it trying to accomplish? build an army using this town? Raid other towns? He understood the Templars even better today than he ever did before, the necessity of demon hunting. He pulling his arm away as a husk atempted to gnash down on it,
"HEY! No BITING!" He yelled, shooting it in the skull, then vaulting over an overturned cart and spinning around to fire on the chasing husks in one twirl before he landed on the other side, sliding along the ground on his knees for a moment before he could angle himself back up onto his feet, running along the ground with his arms stretched out behind him, his guns behind him, he'd angled his body forward for less wind resistance, charging after the source of energy he could sense still, it was getting closer, and the closer he got, the more Husks he had to take care of. He was going to run out of bullets at this rate, but he really didn't need it because he knew he'd have to deal with the demon through magic and close combat.. He came to a stop in an open area, checking his guns, the demon was nearby, and it wasn't moving.. "Aw hell.. Here it comes.." He groaned, holstering the guns behind him and getting into a ready stance again. Husks were appearing from various locations nearby. crawling through windows, knocking over carts to appear, even showing up on rooftops, as for the demon itself it stood on one of the roofs, staring down, almost as if in judgment of Quinn, "Eeeyup.. Ambush.." Quinn replied before the demon let out an unholy howl, one that reverberated through the earth, the sound stretching far across the town, "Yeah yeah, by the time I'm done here either I'll be dead or you're gonna be choking your last breaths.." Quinn grumbled, shifting his stance to look behind him at the ones behind him, "Just give me about.. Uh.. Ten minutes... No.. Make that twenty... Aw great.. This is gonna be swell.." "If a demon leads you into an ambush, you'll probably be dead.." "Thanks for that ray of sunshine, eidetic memory.." He added, looking up at the demon, perhaps if he could take them out as soon as possible the husks would die.. |
Helena walked in the direction of the same growling she heard before though this time louder and more fierce.
The moment she got to the open area, she noticed Quinn being ambushed by the Husks. With a slight smirk on her face, she jumped onto the roof of a building overlooking the area and watched silently in amusement. "I wonder how long he can keep this up on his own.." she questioned. Helena sat down at the edge, still unnoticed by the husks and waited patiently for him to either be defeated by the husks or to ask for help. She didn't expect him to be able to defeat them and would most likely be disgusted and let down if he did. It was somewhat payback for him trying to help, an ungrateful feeling she always had. Watching as the husks attacked, she grinned slightly waiting patiently to see who would win. |
Quinn sighed, gathering his energy into his body, precious mana flowing through his body, warming every vein, filling every muscle, enveloping his mind in a cascade of doubtlessness. As it reached its peak sparks of lightning could be seen jumping around his body andhe opened his eyes again with a smile,
"Bring it on!!" He didn't need to say it twice as the husks began jumping at him individually, each trying from their own angles and approaches as the small horde closed the circle on him. Every blow was a brutal one as the young man grappled with the first, breaking its neck and hurled it full circle to sandwich another husk against a nearby piece of rubble before a swift kick to the skull broke the neck of the second one. He then angled his body forward, lashing out a kick behind him that caught an encroaching husk in the throat and made it stumble back before he turned, stepping forward and planting a second kick into it's chest, resulting in it crashing backwards and over various obstacles until it lay prone. Quinn took the small pause in-between attacks to rush towards the demon but found himself blocked off by another husk, however he simply span around, performing another back kick that sent the creature hurtling through the air, its back snapping against a gas-lamp pole. He hopped back as another attack scraped by him, though the glancing blow tour a wound in his shoulder as a small trail of blood marked the way the attack had torn the flesh. There was no cry of pain as he took the opportunity to jump in the air and bare down on the husk that had landed a successful blow, it receiving the full force of Quinns weight in a knee that pressed its skull into the ground and shattered the bone, crushing the brain. Quinn rolled quickly, dodging the tackle of another Husk and flipped backwards quickly, bouncing back several steps to avoid the relentless hounding of the husks before he turned int he air, looking up at Helena and holding out a hand, a white light had formed there and before long a blast of light was surging towards her, whistling through the air until it passed her, digging into the body of an encroaching husk, which ultimately fell back, exploding into holy light before it was completely destroyed. In spite of the trouble he was having he was still prioritizing some-one else's life. |
Helena stayed completely still, watching with now no expression whatsoever.
Something inside her made her feel amazed yet jealous and angry at the young man. She folded her arms and smirked slightly. Helena jumped down from the building effortlessly and simply walked away. After a few moments, she sprinted instead and ran back to the the south of the town in wonder if anything else would have occurred during her absence in that area. |
"How are you going to get a number of enemies in a line for an attack like that anyway?"
"Simple.. I let them line themselves up while they're chasing me." Quinn hit the ground again, dancing back as the Husks chased him, they were following him adamantly, if sometimes jumping about randomly in an attempt to get a lead on his movements. Quinn kept looking for the right moment until he spotted it. He dug his heel in teh ground behind him as a light covered his arm again, his form sliding back a little before he angled forward, rushing the Husks and dodging between them rapidly, a gauntlet of claws and teeth until he emerged on the other side, the Husks having caved in on the path he took, "Gotcha!" Quinn thrust the glowing arm forward, a singly beam of light, littered with sparks of electricity, shot through the husks and impaled them in various ways, a building caught by the tip of the attack crumbling as the light shot the bodies into it in a barrage of husk corpses while they one-by-one began to disintegrate on impact, a large dust-cloud of smoke kicking up into the air to signify the damage. "Wow.. The Michael's Sword technique actually worked.." He raised a brow and looked around, the husk numbers had been heavily decreased and the demon was looking rather upset as it began to claw at its own face, tearing away the human shell it had been occupying until a larger, more violent looking creature stretched out of the body, like a cocoon.. "Oh great.." Quinn groaned, jumping back as the creature leaped from the building to throw a large fist into the ground, its spiked knuckles digging into the earth and the soil rumbled. Upon landing on his feet Quinn found himself face to face with the demon, another fist surging towards him. The impact was definitely painful, so was the wall he was thrown into as he coughed blood. The creature appeared before him again, grasping him by the collar and hurling him in a full circle, pulling him from the building and around so he would be sent rocketing down the main street, on first touch his shoulder hit the ground, dust forming a path as his flesh was grazed on the rough grit and dried soil. He bounced once, spinning through the air like a slowing top and hit the ground once more, rolling and stumbling head over heels until he came to a dead stop. The demon was marching down the main street, using its large, slender arms as extra balance while it walked. Quinn, however wasn't in so good a shape as he started to push himself off the ground, "Well that was fun.." He muttered, holding his ribs and once again coughing a small amount of blood onto the ground, "Alright.. I've got you right where I want you.." he grumbled bravely, "Let me just find my spleen.." |
Helena wandered back toward the area she had saw Quinn last but spotted the demon just in time before it spotted her. With a quick glance, she sprinted to a shrouded area and walked through it, almost silently to keep herself hidden from the best, not exactly in a mood to help anyone - becoming more stubborn by the minute.
The minute she reached Quinn, a large smirk grew on her face. "You handled that pretty well, I'll admit. Tired, are we?" She asked, tilting her head and folding her arms tightly across her chest. "It's what you get for trying to mess up other peoples plans." She shrugged, walking a few steps away and examining the tall building she had sat on before. |
"Tired..? Not really.. In pain..? Yep.." He replied standing up and breathing in then sighing again, "Whats your problem anyway? Isn't this your home? Don't you want to keep it safe..? Only a coward sneers when they are offered help." He stared in her direction quickly but then back to the demon, it was getting closer, he could feel it preparing to attack again, visibly glowing with a dark energy.
"Run away and hide if you want to, I'm going to finish it.." Quinn spat some blood out to the side and began walking towards the demon, holding up his left hand to gather energy once again, Michaels sword had worked the first time.. Holy Energy piercing a singular point on this creature should do the trick. Big targets were easier to hit with this kind of attack and this demon certainly was no kitten. Quinn could still feel the aching of his body but began to run forward.. Almost enough.. just a little more.. The demon launched forward then, sprinting toward Quinn and howling as it gathered energy in its mouth, its jaw slacking and opening white as a dark purple orb of energy gathered there. The two met at the last moment as Quinn thrust his hand forward, pressing it into the orb in his mouth, "Told you I had you where I wanted you.." the energy from his arm shot forward, piercing the dark energy and imploding it into the demon. There was a final roar of anguish as its own energy and that of the holy light tore through its body, several openings in its body bursting with mixed light until the creature finally exploded. Quinn stood there quietly, watching the remains of the monster rain down and disintegrate slowly, the excess energy of its body danced through the air softly, quietly, coloring the sky until it vanished and Quinn stood there, lowering his arm as he got into a more casual stance. |
Helena watched silently with the same smirk on her face. She tilted her head once again and walked over to him, dropping her arms by her sides.
"This is my town, yes. And I don't need outsiders such as yourself to come here and.. Do whatever you're trying to do." She scowled at him, obviously proving him as competition to herself. "You have absolutely no place in being here." She inhaled deeply and looked away slightly, her eyes trailing to where the demon once stood. She frowned and lowered her eyes to the floor beside her. "I can't fight as well as you, or others. But I still try and that's good enough for this town.. It's good enough for people I've lost. I don't need you to ruin that for me." She snapped, glancing back at him. Not wanting to continue the conversation or to confess herself to him, Helena turned away and began walking back to the south side of town, thinking about everything that had happened in the past few hours. Had someone honestly stolen her limelight from the town? She scoffed at the idea and kept on walking normal paced without a sound. |
"My job here's finished.. The demon is dead." Quinn replied, following on after her as he sorely shifted his shoulders, beginning to chuckle as he thought, "Well why don't you improve? It's easy enough if you do it right. Did you see the light show back there?" He asked, tilting his head either way while he tried to get a handle on his body again, it'd take a little while to recover, but that honestly wasn't what he'd expected,
"When demons die they release excess energy, they're not actually physically born beings, they're pure energy made organic. When they die they become pure mana and if you stand close enough, breath in the energy, you absorb some of its power before it fades away.." He eventually caught up with her looking to the side, "The problem with husks is they're just corrupt vessels and they give off nothing, I don't know how many you've killed but it never matters, they don't give you any benefit for killing them, considering how long you must have been fighting these things you've done pretty well for yourself.." He placed both his hands behind his head but then grimaced, holding his ribs suddenly and grunting, "Oh that's gonna smart in the morning.. I'm Quinn Argent by the way.. Templar," He coughed a little and sighed, "Oh man.. Anyway. I don't care what you tell the town about the demon, its dead that's all that matters to me," |
Helena stopped and stared at him, frowning. She shook her head in disbelief and backed away from him.
"You said the demon's dead, it's all that matters to you. This is my town. Why do you insist on making it seem like yours?" She looked away for a moment before looking back, immediately switching to another subject. "Why tell me how to kill them? I know how to. I'm not stupid." Helena frowned even more, becoming delirious from the lack of sleep and blood loss from earlier. She began to scowl and pushed him, lightly before tilting her head at him. "Quinn..." Helena scoffed and turned away, beginning to walk a few steps wondering to herself the answers to every question she asked him, refusing to listen to a reply but to make up the answers for herself. |
"I never said it was, my town is gone, this one's still here," Quinn shrugged, looking around at the place, "Nothing like mine was either, its nicer here actually.. Don't exactly have the time to stay and contemplate it though," Quinn turned his head to look at her, stumbling slightly whens he pushed him, though he kept himself standing,
"Ow geez.." He grumbled, rubbing his hand over his chest, "Whats your problem? I didn't come here looking to impress people, 'cept my bosses, they wouldn't be too happy if I screwed up and let the whole town get destroyed." He replied, shrugging to himself and separating from her, "Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to find a hospital or a local healer and get fixed up.." Quinn limped slightly, but this was mostly due to numbmess and pain, the naturally produced endorphins in his brain were kicking in, so that was helping some, but not enough. He'd need to get properly healed if he intended to travel again, meanwhile he supposed he could relax, write a report, the bosses would be pleased that he managed to deal with it so quickly, he supposed it was just a lower class demon.. "Go to Pelsvein they said.. Nice easy assignment.. A few husks and a lower class demon.." He grumbled to himself, "Dont mind the locals its just the stick up their asses.. Mind you its a lovely town." He carried on as he went chuckling to himself before groaning, "Ow ow.. Shouldn't make myself laugh, that hurt.." |
