I have a food related piece of trivia regarding sunflowers. =D (And yes, it is cute on peoples avis.) I noticed that like, every bulgarian recipe that calls for oil uses sunflower oil, and I wondered why. As it turns out, it's because of religious practices. Orthodox christian fasting is really strict. If you look at a calendar its like way too many days and you cant use oil, etc. but sunflowers are a new world plant so they were never covered in the laws. People and their loopholes. Anyway, I thought it was funny because I rarely even see people use sunflower oil, here. |
Guivre - how do you even know that?! *rofl* Were you in an oil class or something!?
|
Lol, omg. No, I just realized that every single bulgarian recipe I have calls for sunflower oil, and I thought it was weird since there they have olive trees growing everywhere, on the medians of streets and stuff. I had to look it up. D=
I had a chocolate mole Larabar today. =D All of their chocolate bars taste so rich. I still am not sure where to place mole in my tastes, though. D= |
Were havin sloppy joes... Though I wish they were sloppy Janes they are much faster to cook!
|
What's a sloppy Jane?
Faux: You want the feeeesh! And I've discovered that margaritas are the best drink, ever. Dried cherries=nommy! I know, random.... |
*blink* just looking at this thread makes me hungry....and I just ate!! two dinners in fact. first some vegi/chicken/rice stirfry thing that they had at school and some cauliflower and then a chicken salad sandwich. both very yummy.
|
Kat ~ I want two dinners!
Skrea! You gotta CATCH ME first! And yes I do like Margaritas. <3 Jaz? What the heck is a Sloppy Janes? |
Sloppy Janes are just Sloppy Joes that take less the 10 minutes to make ^^
|
Well - get me some of that action! I think I might do Manwitch (sp?) tonight - with ground turkey?!
|
Mmmm, turkey.
So glad no more school food for a while soon. :3 |
Man I can't eat ground turkey anymore.. T_T I found a bone in it and now just the taste repulses me because of that ONE incident... What is bad is that I have pulled bones out of the stuff I have bought at King Soopers when I am in a rush and I still somehow can stomach it... Though it is no where NEAR as good as making it myself... So... bland!
|
OMGOODNESS! YES! I try to make ground turkey at hom and it is just sooo damn bland! No matter what I put in it!
I was wondering if I was missing something, but if it's not working for you either, then I don't feel so bad about it. *ha ha ha* ... and you found a bone in it... *ew*! |
The problem wasn't that it was bland it was the grocery store chicken stuff that they make... IT is bland
The ground turkey we just cook with seasonings and then we added whatever to make it into a meal... Tastes ok like that and it is MUCH more tender then beef but I still can't eat it cause I found that bone... Just like I can't eat oriental instant meals made by Banquet... >< I threw a sweet and sour chicken up ONCE now I can't look at them without getting nauseous!! |
*ew!* Jaz - Even though I'm hungry, I'm losing it cause of your crazy stories!
*think about yummy german food she might get tonight if her friend wants to see the oompa band!* |
I don't know what to make for dinner cause it is only Sean and I again... I don't like when Dillon works nights...
|
Well - I found out the german food is going to have to wait till Sunday. *so* It's manwich tonight for me! Unless I make a crazy salad again. *lol*
|
Ew... ground chicken >.< sounds nasty... ground beef was only recently put into my diet, great for a quick morning snack! But chicken is bland as is without anything added, ground and drained? Couldn't imagine what that would be like! Boney, no less? Not exactly my cup of tea...
Chicken wings are yummy, though! |
@faux ~ oompa music. hahaha. i've never heard anyone say that but me.
i've been a good kid today, i had salad and a half sandwich. but a yummy salami, swiss cheese, and butter on german pumpernickel bread sandwich! i think the man is making cookies now to ruin my good dinner! >< @jazzed ~ here i'll go get us both a barf bucket.. ick that's why i can only eat the breast of chickens if i'm eating a whole chicken, because its the white meat and because it has less chance of there being a tiny hidden bone in it. seriously you talking about bone particles in ground meat just made me gag. :gonk: |
Awe thanks mau5ie!
Good thing I have a strong stomach though, puking's just not something I enjoy doing... I've never found any bones in ground beef, so I think I'm gonna stick with that for now... >.> |
I have leftovers for lunch - *not bad* - but I usually like to eat them the next day not directly day after.
|
jazzed ~ my boyfriend doesn't do the barfing thing either. not saying that i go around randomly throwing up all over everything, it only happens in extreme conditions.
the only thing i don't like about ground beef is the gristle. i find that sometimes even in the leaner packages of beef. have you tried ground turkey? it's the same thing just healthier for you! <3 |
@jazzed -- Ground chicken is just fine. D= I make chicken tostadas using ground chicken all the time. It's not nice to yuck other peoples' yums. D=
I ate some buffalo chicken strips last night, and they must have been really salty, all I've wanted to do all day today is drink water and diet soda. D= Oh well, apparently I'll be cutting those out of my diet for summer. |
Chicken strips or soda?
I really want cold cereal at the moment... So not a good dinner choice >< |
Hey! I've had cold cereal days.
I had broiled fish. It was not as tasty as it usually is, I think I need some different spices. I'm having pineapple now! |
We wound up having crispy chicken strips, fries and salad...
