Archie perked up when he saw her, grinning widely. "Tell me about your journey! Sir Crabby over there won't tell me anything at all."
Léan rolled his eyes. "That is because I lost interest in speaking to you after you called it an 'Extravagant, Romantic Getaway For Two,'" he muttered. |
((interesting double post))
"Well..." Glory said. "It's kind of complicated, and it's very much related to the bad mood I've been in for the past couple days." She hesitated for a moment before explaining what was going on. She figured it was better to tell him the story rather than having him jump to conclusions. |
((It does that to me all the time. D: I don't know why.))
"Ooohhh. If he's nomadic, then that might not be good. Nomadic mermen aren't friendly to other nomadic mermen unless they find they have a romantic interest in each other..." It seemed Léan's concerns were valid, since Archie had just vouched for him. "I hope you're keen on your social skills, Léan." Léan huffed in response. He wasn't social in the least. |
"You know, I love how nobody finds this weird in the slightest except for me," Glory pointed out.
|
"Nothing ever shocks me," Archie replied, sweetly.
Léan rolled his eyes. "It surprised me. I'm just not the kind of person who freaks out about everything..." He gave Archie a pointed stare before lifting his head up more, straining his ears. "Your friend is here." |
Glory glanced over to the other end of the beach when she heard the familiar pick-up. She nodded and stood up.
"Right," she said. "Be right back." |
Viktor's speedboat...er...it actually wasn't all that small. It was the size of a small yacht and had no second floor, or floor below deck. He was waiting for her outside the truck, and looked up when she walked over.
"Got everything? I have sleeping bags, in case we're out there for more than one day. Food, as well," he hummed. |
Glory nodded.
"I just need to grab my bag, it's inside," she said. "I was just on my rock on the beach." She grinned a bit. "Yes, I actually have a rock I claimed as mine." |
Viktor waved her off, looking amused. "I'm not going to comment on that. Oh. Don't bring anything that might start a fire," he added, quickly. "I've got extra gas on-board. I don't want it to catch fire."
|
"Easy enough," Glory said. "Aside from something warm to wear and other such supplies, I'm just going to have my cell and my iPod."
|
Viktor nodded idly, and then he hopped back in his truck. "Might wanna tell your friends to move before you head in. I'll back my truck up towards the water and let the boat go here. It seems deep enough."
|
"Right," Glory nodded. She turned and headed back down to the edge of the beach.
|
Archie was back to his old tricks, irritating Léan and chattering with him excitedly.
Léan looked like he wanted nothing more than to punch him in the teeth and swim away. He was unamused. Being around his brother for an extended period of time was not something he liked, or looked forward to. |
"Archie, sweetie, I think it's about time you went back to your family," Glory said. "Boats tend to come with propellers, and I really don't think you want to be in the way of those."
|
Archie was speeding off as soon as he heard the word 'boat' mentioned, terrified.
"Mm. I told you boats are an object of fear," Léan hummed, as he moved out of the way. He perched himself up on one of the rocks, watching as Viktor started to back his truck up onto the beach. |
"He'll get over himself by the time we get home," Glory said. "He'll have missed you so much by then that he won't care." She didn't say anything about Archie missing her, because she wasn't quite sure if he would.
|
Léan arched an eyebrow at her as Viktor continued positioning his boat correctly. "...Arcturus likes you. Hell, he likes everybody. He's just a tad wary, still, since you are human...and humans are his second biggest fear."
|
"That doesn't mean he'll actually care if I'm not around," Glory pointed out. "You said it yourself, he's afraid of humans, and I happen to be one."
|
"Perhaps you should spend more time with him when we come back," Léan suggested. "You know me well enough, but Arcturus is a different story." If Archie planned on staying in the area with them...it would probably be a good idea to ebb away any fears he still had.
Viktor, who didn't want his clothes wet, carefully pushed the boat into the water. It floated easily enough in the shallow water and drifted out a bit, stopping near some rocks that were accessible from the shore. |
"Maybe, if he's around," Glory said. She doubted it, though. Between the cold weather and Archie taking care of Damon and Eden, she doubted she'd see him much at all.
|
Viktor sighed once everything seemed in order. "All right...you can start piling your stuff in the boat, if you want. All my things are already in there. I'm not even going to ask what you're looking for, but...directions, maybe?"
Léan frowned, then nodded. "I will be hanging onto the side of the boat underwater. I will pop up and give directions occasionally." |
Glory nodded and went to grab her bag.
"I already told you what we're looking for," she said as she put her things into the boat. "You should really be awake when you read your text messages." |
"I don't have to be awake this early. I'm not even fully awake now and I've got half a hangover. We gonna set sail or what?" Viktor asked, scratching his head absently. He seemed quite good for someone with a bit of a hangover.
Léan slid into the water, carefully avoiding the propeller. He had the small plastic bag with Glory's hair in it clutched in his hand. The look of plain fear in his eyes when he skirted the propeller was...a little unnerving. He clung to one of the sides of the ship and ducked himself underwater, prepared to set out. |
"It's your own fault you have a hangover," Glory said as she stepped across the rocks with ease. Somehow, she felt more comfortable on the rocks than she did once she stepped onto the boat. "You have no sympathy from me for that one."
|
Viktor hopped in the boat after her, strutting in a feminine manner over to the wheel. "Well, excuse me for complaining about my splitting headache," he hummed, teasingly, as he sat down in the chair by the wheel.
