Glory grinned and headed out into the kitchen with him.

"Feel free to look around," she said. "Just be careful with anything that looks sharp."

Mira-Charma13 08-15-2010 04:42 AM

Léan did look around, but he didn't touch anything. He seemed especially interested in studying the food items in the fridge. He couldn't understand how it worked.

Mageling 08-15-2010 04:49 AM

"Is there anything in particular that looks good?" Glory asked, rummaging through the pantry.

Mira-Charma13 08-15-2010 04:53 AM

"I don't know what most of it is," Léan replied, studying everything curiously. He seemed fascinated by one of the small fruit drinks on the bottom shelf of the fridge--it was a lime drink, and was green. He wasn't used to seeing green liquid...

Mageling 08-15-2010 04:58 AM

Glory went and looked through the fridge for anything that looked appealing.

"The fruit looks good, for being out of season," she commented as she looked. "No leftovers, though... which means I may need to actually cook something."

Mira-Charma13 08-15-2010 05:05 AM

Léan gave her an odd look, before recalling that humans cooked their food. A nearly impossible feat underwater, since they didn't have fire. They could use heat, but it was difficult to do. And raw fish did not give them diseases, so it was safe to eat.

Mageling 08-15-2010 05:11 AM

Glory poked through the fridge for a few more minutes before pulling out some of the fruit.

"This is easiest, since I don't need to do anything to it," she said.

Mira-Charma13 08-15-2010 05:15 AM

Léan had eaten a few fruits before, but they had been mostly coastal, tropical fruit. Coconuts were the one he remembered most fondly, of course. He sometimes found those out at sea, floating along.

Mageling 08-15-2010 05:41 AM

Taking the fruits to the counter, she cored and cut them, putting the slices on a plate and handing them to him.

"Here," she said.

Mira-Charma13 08-15-2010 05:51 AM

Léan nibbled on a few of them, trying them each separately. He found, to his delight, that he liked all of them. The tip of his tailfin, directly next to him, was flicking back and forth happily as he ate.

Mageling 08-15-2010 05:54 AM

Glory grinned.

"Nana always keeps fruit in the house, so it's not like we'll run out," she said.

Mira-Charma13 08-15-2010 06:04 AM

Léan nodded as he finished up, contently. "I have never heard of more than half of these..." he admitted, scratching his head. "I feel quite out of place. Then again, I don't live on land...only natural."

Mageling 08-15-2010 06:10 AM

"They're a little out of season, but they're not bad," Glory said.

Mira-Charma13 08-15-2010 06:16 AM

"...Out of season?" Léan repeated, puzzled. "Do they migrate?" Because a merperson's diet mainly consisted of fish, 'out of season' to them...meant that some fish had migrated somewhere else and were harder to catch in their particular region.

((I'd better go to bed. I'm heading out for vacation tomorrow, and I'll be gone for four days. I might not have internet access...if I don't, I'll talk to you in four days. ^^ Night!))

Mageling 08-15-2010 06:19 AM

((Night~! Have fun!))

"No," Glory said. "Fruits grow at different times of the year, usually through the summer and fall. Now that it's winter, humans try to grow them in greenhouses, which make it so fruits can be grown all year. They're still technically considered out of season, though."

Mira-Charma13 08-15-2010 11:54 PM

((There is internet! :D I should be on most of the night, but I have to leave for dinner now. I'll be back soon. ^^))

Léan tilted his head. "Ah...I see..." he murmured, thoughtfully. "Ah...I have a feeling that I'll never fully understand..." He sighed, pleased. "This fruit is very good, though."

Mageling 08-16-2010 12:08 AM

"I'll make sure to buy more next time I'm out shopping, then," Glory replied.

Mira-Charma13 08-16-2010 04:06 AM

Léan nodded, tail flicking back and forth happily. "Ah...thank you, I would like that," he quipped, cheery for once. "...Perhaps we should check on your parents? There are sometimes problems with the change. The main problem being...vision. If her vision is not as it should be underwater, we will need to fetch her some Abrium."

Mageling 08-16-2010 04:11 AM

"I'll keep an eye on the beach," Glory replied. "I'll check every so often, so if they need to get our attention for something, we'll know. I'd rather do that so I don't... walk in on anything."

Mira-Charma13 08-16-2010 04:16 AM

"Ah..." Léan chuckled, then nodded. "Perfectly understandable. We don't have to see that...I don't want to see that." He sighed softly, closing his eyes. "I feel so lazy."

Mageling 08-16-2010 04:18 AM

"Take advantage of the downtime," Glory advised. "I know I am. I have school tomorrow."

Mira-Charma13 08-16-2010 04:23 AM

"Ah, school. I remember those days," Léan sighed, mournfully. "Good times, but bad times. Really, I prefer my independence now..."

((I'll be right back. Got to do something with my family for a few minutes.))

Mageling 08-16-2010 04:24 AM

"High school is life's hazing ground," Glory agreed. "I hate it most of the time, but I still plan on going to college. I'll have to probably pay for it myself, which means probably a second job, but still."

Mira-Charma13 08-16-2010 04:57 AM

Léan furrowed his brow, suddenly. "...College?" he questioned. The word was a tad foreign to him. Colleges didn't exist in his world.

Mageling 08-16-2010 05:01 AM

"More school," Glory clarified. "Specialized education, rather than general education. But it's expensive, thousands of dollars a year. Still, I need to do it to get a decent job, instead of the part-time waitressing thing I have now."
