Léan looked nervous, from what little could be seen of him, and shaken up, still. He was probably shaken up from more than just her disappearance--Betelgeuse was nowhere in sight. They had probably fought. Which meant...
He might be injured. |
Glory realized something was wrong when he still didn't answer her. That was about the point where she also realized he was alone. Carefully, she let go of Honeydew's hand.
"Stay here," she murmured. Then she went to the cave. "Talk to me," she said softly. |
Léan was holding his left arm. It was twisted in a way it shouldn't have been, and was bruising terribly. His arms were shaking a bit. He looked like he was in serious pain, but he tried not to show it on his face. He rested his head against her, murmuring something about being a little too nervous to confront his mother alone.
"We need to take care of your arm first," Glory said softly. "I don't think I can patch this one up, though... I don't have that kind of skill. Remind me to strangle him when he gets back, alright? I'm already pissed off at him."
Léan shook his head, finally managing to still the shaking of his arms. "I'll be fine. We need to go. Before that human acquires a boat and comes after us." His voice was strained. He wouldn't be able to keep up all that well with the rest of them.
"You're not fine, don't lie to me," Glory said. "And Archer probably thinks we're long gone by now."
"I am not convinced. We need to leave, and hide. Open water is not safe." Léan tried to move out of the cave, and bumped his injured arm on the side of it. He cried out in pain, and curled up slightly.
"Let me see," Glory said softly, her fingertips just barely ghosting over his skin. His arm was bruising horribly, and she wasn't sure how badly it was broken, but if they could just set it somehow, it would be a lot better.
Léan was ultra-still while she was touching him--he didn't want to agitate his arm any more than he had to. He hated pain...especially the kind of pain one could barely do anything about. He swallowed, hard, and then shifted again. "We need to go."
He said nothing about going to find his father. He was furious, and he wouldn't even bother going. |
"We still need to do something about your arm, unless there's someone around who can help," Glory pointed out. "If you leave it like that the whole way home, it'll just make it worse later."
"I can handle it. What'll be 'worse' is if that human comes after us. Let's leave, and then we'll deal with it later. I'll take my time," Léan promised, gingerly pulling his arm up to his chest. It would stay there, he was indicating, the whole journey.
"Are you sure?" Glory asked, concerned. "I don't like seeing you hurt, and if we run into anything unpleasant..."
"Other than my father?" Léan scoffed, bitterly...sourly. "I'll help. Without using this arm. But we need to go. Hanging around here is dangerous."
Glory bit her lip a bit, and then sighed. She knew she wouldn't be able to change his mind.
"Alright," she said reluctantly. "Let's head for home." |
"Are we going to leave him here?" Léan asked finally, gruffly. He knew that leaving Betelgeuse here would crush Honeydew, since it would be difficult to find him again. But he really didn't want to deal with him. He was a cold-hearted bastard that Léan held no affection for.
"Personally, I would love to," Glory replied. "But... That would kind of defeat the purpose of even being here in the first place."
"If I go looking for him, we'll fight. I hate to send you or my mother alone. But I'm in no shape for a fight. If we end up fighting, he's going to kill me."
Léan shrunk back into the cave, shoulders up to his chin. |
"At this point, I have a better chance than you do," Glory pointed out. "I don't want you to go out, not with your arm messed up like that."
Léan fixed her with concerned eyes. He didn't like sending her out alone. "...Perhaps you should take my mother with you. In case he decides he's in the mood to attack."
"He typically wants to kill me anyways, that's not unusual," Glory said. "All I really need to do is get him to follow me back somehow... Though it might be a good idea, you're right..."
Honeydew was still waiting outside of the rocks, head snapping in all directions, warily. The open space was very intimidating to her after having lived in a cramped tank for so long.
Léan, who was still shaking slightly in pain, nodded. "Do what you think is best..." |
Sighing a bit, Glory gave him a small kiss.
"Try to relax a bit, alright? I'll be back," she said. |
Léan nodded, smiling slightly--it looked pained, but it was a smile, nonetheless. He laid his head down on the sand, curling up to try and relax.
Turning, Glory left the cave and went back out to Honeydew.
"Come on," she said. "Obviously, there's someone we need to find now." |
Honeydew shifted closer to her. She seemed to feel safer having someone close to her, since it was essentially an unfamiliar world she had returned to.
