Glory watched him leave, and then got up to go inside.
Léan had dozed off while she'd been outside, so the blankets had fallen off of his face. He was half-asleep and half-not, and he didn't hear her when she finally returned.
Glory went over to the bed and snuggled in with him quietly. She wouldn't disturb him if he wanted to sleep.
Léan snapped out of his daze when he felt her weight on the bed, and shook his head a few times. "I must have dozed off..." he murmured, momentarily forgetting why she had gone outside in the first place.
"That's alright," Glory replied. "It happens."
What she had gone out for had suddenly flooded Léan's mind, and he said nothing more, closing his eyes again. He would wait to see if she would bring it up.
When he didn't mention anything, Glory cuddled a bit closer. She already figured he was waiting for her.
"You could have said something, you know," she said. |
"With how I clam up? Not really," Léan sighed, wrapping a gentle arm around her waist.
"Yeah, you need to break that habit," Glory teased. She liked having his arm around her. "Anyways, I've been assured that the beach and surrounding area are empty at the moment..."
"I'm aware of that..." At her last statement, the color returned to Léan's face. He didn't seem to know what to say to that...his clam-ness kicking in again.
"Then how about you and I head outside?" Glory suggested. "It'll be nice to get out of the house, and we can find a quiet spot."
"If you'd like to...we can..." Léan relented, shifting a bit. "I can try to walk out on my own this time. Mind you, I'll probably fail at it..."
"That's what I'm here for, remember?" Glory replied. "I promised to help you, and I will." Getting up, she held out her hand to help him up.
Léan took it, though he was feeling like a burden on her. He pulled himself up, and then took a moment to balance himself. He was able to take a few steps, and then his steps became wobbly, and he had to use Glory for support yet again. It was better than his previous attempt.
"You're doing better," Glory encouraged him, giving him a kiss.
"I still suck," Léan insisted, scowling slightly. After a few minutes of unsteady guidance, he was able to make it out to the beach without falling flat on his face and taking her with him.
"But you're improving," Glory pointed out. "You'll get the hang of it."
"Well...I suppose so..." Once at the water's edge, Léan lowered himself down shakily, and slid into the water. He changed almost instantly...no rainy days out of water for him, it seemed...
Once Glory was sure he was alright, she followed him into the water. Her change was a bit slower than his, but not by much.
Léan stretched himself out, swimming around in quick circles to gain his bearings. Then, he slid back and held her hand, gently. "Where to?"
"Whever you want to go," Glory replied, stretching a little.
"There's a nice quiet cave a little ways out, if that sounds good to you. Just have to make sure it's not occupied..." Léan knew that big, irritating ray from before was still lurking around. He'd hoped their shark had gotten it, but he'd recently seen it.
"Sounds fine to me," Glory replied. "You know where it is, so I'll follow you."
Léan nodded and quickly led the way out to sea, just a bit. The shore was still somewhat visible. The cave he had been talking about was carved out of an immobile pile of rocks, and big enough for them to move around in comfortably. He quietly drifted on inside.
Glory followed him into the cave. There seemed to be plenty of space inside.
