"What do you mean 'on speed?'" Archie asked, puzzled. He shook his head, and then chuckled. "It's almost the same with Léan..."
"Remember your drugged barracuda joke?" Glory asked. "My squirrel joke is like that, except it's exactly what it sounds like. Speed makes you hyperactive."
"Oh." Archie blinked. "Okay. Well! You should try to catch a fish in under two minutes to start...so go for it!" He seemed eager about teaching her.
Glory raised an eyebrow. He was really serious.
"This is about the point I remind you about that whole making a fool of myself thing," she said. |
"No harm in giving it a shot, right? Besides, if you fail...I can help you out, and we can try again!" Archie reminded her, pleasantly.
"You just want to make fun of me a bit," Glory accused, teasing.
"I'm willing to help you if you want, though! I'm serious!" Archie protested, though he grinned a bit. "I admit, it'll be funny if you fail, but I'm here to help."
"Alright, alright, but don't be surprised when this doesn't work the way you think it might," Glory replied as she got ready to try. Unsurprisingly, it took her a good few minutes to wrestle a fish into submission.
Archie waited until she finally captured a fish, and then tutted, shaking his head. "Your technique needs a lot of work!" He proceeded to go off on a long explanation of helpful tips for her.
((Hello, friend~ We seem to have missed each other last night.))
"Never would have guessed," Glory replied with more than a hint of sarcasm, though she at least listened to what he said. She knew she wasn't what anyone would consider 'skilled.' |
((Mm-hm...I was over at my cousin's.))
Archie went over a multitude of different things, in glorious detail, and then demonstrated on a few nearby fish for her. "Go ahead, try it out!" |
"You're enjoying this too much," Glory accused.
"I like to teach," Archie replied, as if that explained everything and more. "Now, go on and give it a shot! See if I'm any good at teaching..."
Glory finally did so, after making herself get over feeling like a fool.
Archie watched her carefully, and was pleased to see that she eventually started to get the hang of it. He felt proud that he was able to help her out.
After a while, Glory sprawled out on the sand, tired. She just didn't have the stamina for so much swimming yet.
"Tired?" Archie floated above her, grinning. "Maybe you should head back for a while." It seemed like they wouldn't get any farther with her being tired.
"Yeah, well, I'm not used to so much swimming at once," Glory replied. Sarcasm was foregone in favor of conserving energy.
"Okay, I understand. Head on back and take a nap--it's probably in your best interest, hm?" Archie smiled, cheerfully. He seemed much more comfortable with her, now.
"It might be a good idea," Glory agreed. Getting up, she stretched a bit and started to make her way back towards shore.
Archie followed her. He lowered himself to the sand, and moved stealthily for a moment, as the three playing came into view. Then, he pounced, shooting forward and tackling his brother. It was much easier to see underwater, and the irritated chitters and chirps were much clearer and more pronounced.
Glory just watched. Really, she expected such things by now.
Léan grumbled, especially when Eden began to laugh at them, pointing and blabbering nonsense at them. She had round cheeks, and big, bright eyes. "Arcturus. One of these days, I am going to hurt you for doing that to me."
"No you're not," Glory pointed out as she got closer. "He's been doing that to you since forever, and you haven't done anything about it yet."
Léan huffed, arms folding around his chest. He was sulking, and he knew it. "Bah. One of these days, I will. He just has to cross me when I'm really, really not in the mood for his 'playing around'..."
