Glory cuddled closer to him.
"You won't hurt anyone," she said. "Everything will be alright." |
Léan did not seem to believe her. But, he relaxed, for her sake. "...I hope not," he said, finally. He fell silent, then, simply holding her close and enjoying her company.
Glory rested her head on his shoulder, enjoying being close to him. She was worried, of course, but she held on to the chance that there was nothing to worry about in the first place.
Léan was going to remain anxious until the truth was known, for sure. He had not had a good father-figure, obviously, when he was smaller...so, he had no idea how to be one...without being hurtful.
Glory snuggled as close as she could. At the moment, she was sure they both needed the contact. It was comforting, at least to her.
Léan sighed, and then stretched himself out. His stomach grumbled rather loudly as he did this, and he cleared his throat, attempting to hide it.
"I heard that," Glory teased, grateful for the distraction. She didn't like things being awkward between them.
Léan huffed. "All right, all right...perhaps we should head inside to eat. I don't think I'm up for hunting at the moment..." Truth be told, he just wanted to relax.
"Alright," Glory said. "I'm sure I can find something for us in the kitchen."
Léan nodded, and entwined their arms together, starting back towards shore. He was hoping for a quiet time...he didn't want anything else major happening.
Once they got to shore, Glory got out first and wrapped one of the towels around herself. She waited to see if he would need any help, ready for if he did.
Léan was able to pull himself out of the water and shakily get to his feet without any assistance. He wrapped his arms around himself, and then reached out for one of the free towels, wrapping that around himself.
Glory gave him a kiss.
"You're doing much better," she said. "Come on, let's see how far across the sand you can get." She started off across the beach about a step ahead of him, towards the house. |
Léan seemed cheered by the praise, and a gentle smile returned to his face. He was wobbly and had little balance, but he was able to make it across the beach, and to the house, without falling, though he stumbled once.
"I think you've got the hang of it now," Glory said once they'd made it all the way to her room. "You just need to work on your balance a bit, but that's easy enough to practice." Going into her dresser, she pulled out a pair of lounge pants and a plain tank top. A set of plain underthings joined the comfortable clothes. "You may as well pull out something to wear," she commented.
Léan dug around for some of his clothes, and ended up locating a simple pair of jeans and a white tank top, one of the few outfits Viktor had picked out for him. He almost forgot a pair of boxers, but remembered at the last minute. He quickly pulled on the clothes--it was evident in his expression that he still felt awkward about clothing.
Glory made sure he had everything on properly and gave him a kiss.
"Looks good," she said. Her own clothes were nothing special. The lounge pants were green and blue plaid, and the tank top that was solid black. Her bra straps were showing, and they were blue. She took his hand. "Come on, let's see what we have in the kitchen." |
Léan's hand closed around hers gently, and he awkwardly followed her out into the kitchen. His steps were uneven...still off-balance. But at least he wasn't falling over anymore.
"It's not fair that you're so much taller than I am," Glory commented as they went, mostly teasingly. "I mean, I'm not exactly short."
Léan arched an eyebrow. Again, since smaller people were deemed much more blessed and attractive underwater, that reasoning was odd to him. "I don't understand why you're complaining..."
"I told you that being taller is more convenient topside," Glory pointed out. "Maybe not 'better', but more convenient."
"Not always the case..." Léan protested, leaning against the wall once they reached the kitchen.
"Oh?" Glory asked as she rummaged through the cabinets. "Case and point: if I were any shorter, I wouldn't be able to reach the cabinets."
Léan scowled. "It depends. It does." He didn't feel like explaining any more, so he waited for her. He was wobbly on his legs. They weren't all that strong, yet.
"If you say so," Glory replied. She glanced at him and saw him leaning against the counter. "You can sit down, if you like."
