"Which you may actually need to know how to do one of these days," Glory pointed out. "I can't do everything all the time."
"I know, I know..." Léan assured her, pointedly. "I'm paying attention...just not to the overly-caring speeches that go with the instructions..."
"Alright," Glory said. Really, she couldn't ask for more than that. She wasn't really paying attention to the speeches, either.
When the woman finally asked them to demonstrate, Léan again asked that she try it first, so that he wouldn't feel overly-stupid trying it on his own, alone.
Glory did as he asked, not minding. She knew he was way out of his element, and she had a tiny bit more skill than he did. Of course, once they had actual children to take care of, they would both end up with all the skill they could need, but for now, she didn't mind demonstrating.
Léan paid attention, seeming mildly confused. There were no bottles or formulas underwater...there was only one way of feeding children. But, he supposed it was different on land. When she was finished demonstrating, he had another laugh at the doll before attempting it himself.
He seemed to be in a good mood, at least...if he was in a bad mood, he wouldn't be doing anything at all. |
"Trust me," Glory murmured, "I don't plan on doing that for a while. At least, not if I can help it." At least he was in a good mood, that was something.
Léan nodded, contently, and then set the 'child' down on the table. He had a few more laughs at it, and made a few idle jokes, much to the disdain of the passing instructor.
Glory couldn't help but giggle a bit at the idle jokes. She knew it didn't really help, since she was sure the instructor already thought she was too young for a child, but she couldn't help it. She was glad that Léan was in a better mood, though.
The instructor did not seem fond of them. She went on to go over a few more things, like how a child should be sleeping at night and what he or she should be sleeping in. She also went over strollers and other transportation devices. Léan listened, but ignored her heartfelt speeches as he had the past few times.
Glory listened to the actual important information, but she tuned out the dramatic speeches as well. She could tell the instructor didn't like them much, but there wasn't anything she could do about it but sit there and try to get any information she could.
Léan was relieved once the class ended--there had been no actual children involved, thankfully. He was glad for that...he scurried out of the room before the instructor could possibly approach them.
Glory followed him out of the room, glad that it was over. The twins had been moving almost non-stop the entire time, and it was starting to get distracting.
"Come on," she said when she found him, "let's go back home." |
Léan nodded, sniffing slightly. He seemed at least a little bit relieved. He would still not be prepared for children, but at least he had a brief sort of knowledge of what he had to do to help out...
Glory took his hand and squeezed it gently.
"It's not quite so bad anymore, is it?" she asked. |
"Not quite...but, it will still take me a lot of time to adapt..." Léan's eyes scanned the parked cars, searching for hers.
Glory hit the unlock button for her car, and the lights flashed once.
"I'll be glad to get home," she commented. "Maybe doing something relaxing will get the twins to stop moving so much, and I might be able to get a nap in." |
Léan nodded, idly. "Have you bothered asking Lleu any more questions, yet?" he asked, curiously, as they hopped into her car. He was tired, as well--he could go for a nice nap, or just a nice, relaxing swim around the territory.
"No, not yet," Glory replied. "Nothing else has seemed all that urgent yet. Why did you ask anything?"
Léan shook his head. "I was just wondering. I haven't seen him around here for a while..." Lleu did seem to be keeping his distance for some reason...
"I noticed that too, actually," Glory said. She'd found it a little strange herself, considering how often the albino hung around the area. "I wonder what's up."
"Do you think it is because of Aster?" The arrival of the newcomer had certainly set Lleu on edge for some reason, and after that incident, he had returned to the beach very little.
"I don't know," Glory replied. "It might be." Aster seemed to set a few of them on edge, and it bothered her a bit. She wasn't sure whether or not to trust him, and he hadn't done anything to prove himself trustworthy.
"Lleu...is not afraid of anything. That sort of makes me think the two of them have met somewhere before...and something bad happened..." Léan reasoned. He glanced out of the window as the they drove.
"Well, we need to figure out what it is," Glory said. "Aren't we responsible for making sure everyone is taken care of?" It made sense to her, at least.
