"I think there is a running vehicle in your driveway...or, even worse, a boat...I believe it's a car, however...perhaps a truck, judging by how deep the sound is..."
Truck...who did they know that owned a truck? |
"Then it's probably Viktor, if it's a truck," Glory replied. "He drives that god-awful pick-up in the winter. I could go take a look, if you want."

"Why would he be here, though...?" Léan asked, nervously. He sniffed the air, slowly, as if that would provide the answers...and froze, blinking. "...Yes, checking would probably be a good idea. I think something is wrong...I smell blood..."

"Well, that's not good..." Glory murmured as she slipped from his embrace. "I'll be back." Leaving the cave, she made her way to shore. When she got close enough, she poked her head up past the rocks to see what was going on.

Viktor's truck was still running. He was standing outside of it and leaning against the driver's side door, eyes closed. He was wounded--the dark green turtleneck he had on was quickly staining with blood coming from what looked like a stab wound in his stomach.
He also had some bruises...he had been in a fight of some kind. |
Once Glory saw that, she wasted no time in pulling herself out of the water and wrapping a towel around herself.
"Viktor, what happened?" she asked as she got closer to him. "Come on, inside." |
Viktor shrugged off any help she offered him to walk, and stumbled after her into the house. He was trying his best not to bleed on her floor. "Got into a fight again, with my pop...it got violent. He stabbed me..."
It didn't seem like Viktor would be going back to his house tonight. Or maybe ever. He didn't have any money and knew his father wouldn't pay for hospital bills, so he hadn't bothered--he'd just headed out to the nearest safe place he could think of. His father knew where a lot of his friends lived, but not Glory. |
Glory immediately went and grabbed the medical supplies she kept stashed in the linnen closet, as well as some old towels. Mentally, she cursed the fact that she was starting to waddle a bit and couldn't move as fast as she could before. She draped the towels over the couch and maneuvered him onto it.
"The sweater is ruined anyways, so it has to go," she said as she got rid of it. She quickly set about trying to patch him up as best she could. |
The reason for Viktor's many admirers was clear by the way he looked--he had a lot of muscle, and obviously kept himself in shape. He frowned, grumbling. "There has to be a way to get that stain out...please don't throw it away or anything--that's one of my good shirts..."
He allowed her to patch him up, grateful for the assistance. "Sorry to show up so unexpectedly...I had to go somewhere I know my parents wouldn't come looking for me..." |
"I might be able to get the stain out," Glory said as she bandaged him up. "I'll see what I can do. Try not to move for a while, alright? It doesn't seem too deep, but still." Once she'd done what she could, she threw the sweater into the sink and ran cold water over it. Then she went into her room and put proper clothes on, so she wouldn't be in a towel anymore. Her shirt stretched across her stomach, but it wasn't something she could help, so she ignored it.

Viktor nodded, slowly, and stayed put. He had no intentions of moving--he was in a world of pain. He would probably need medical attention from a professional if the bleeding continued, but he had no money for a hospital...and since he was eighteen and had no official job, he had no health insurance.
His parents could easily freeze his funds. |
Once Glory had real clothing on, she went back into the other room.
"I've done everything I can, so from here on in, it's either all you, or we get you to the ER," she said. "Did you want to call Curry or something?" |
"I'll call Curry later...urgh...no, no hospitals," Viktor retorted, firmly. "I don't have health insurance. I can't go to a hospital...I'll be all right, I think..." He closed his eyes, a hand going to his stomach. He was still bleeding, but it wasn't bad...it was just barely soaking through the bandages.

"I'll change that for you in a little bit," Glory said. "Don't touch it, and try not to move." She sat down on one of the chairs across from the couch with a small sigh and rubbed her stomach. The tiny kicks from the twins were as constant as ever.

Viktor grumbled under his breath, sounding a lot, creepily, like Léan. "Yeah. Okay..." He stayed as still as possible. He occasionally just had to shift around, to get comfortable...but he stayed still, dropping his hand from the bandages around his stomach.

Once he was settled, Glory cleaned everything up. She'd made up her mind to stay inside for a while to keep an eye on him, so now it was just a matter of waiting to see whether or not he improved.
"I guess it's kind of obvious by now why I'm not going to school anymore," she commented as she straightened up. |
"Guess so. I'm not gonna ask why you're like that...just how you got so big so quickly," Viktor teased, grinning slightly. The pain didn't seem to be stopping his good mood from shining forth.

"Yeah, well... Having twins will do that," Glory replied. "The fact that they're only partially human probably has something to do with it, too." She rubbed her stomach a bit. "Maybe another six weeks or so to go."

What she'd said seemed to fly completely over Viktor's head. He scratched at his arm, absently. "...Well, I half-regret asking," he said, simply. "But, okay. That's nice. You know any genders yet...? Have any names in mind?"

"Hey, you asked, I answered," Glory pointed out. "I never said it would be a simple answer. I don't know the genders, but it's not really that big a deal. I've thought of a couple of names, but we haven't talked about it or decided on any."

"Well that's odd. He the same as me, then? I know I don't like kids..." Viktor revealed, idly. That confirmed Selena's previous statements about him.

"Unfortunately," Glory replied. She sighed. "It makes things difficult."

"I can't really give good input--I hate little kids, probably not for the same reasons as him, but still. I just don't like 'em...I don't know why..." Viktor shrugged. Different from Léan, who was just afraid that he'd end up harming children.

"I'm doing what I can," Glory replied. "I'm hoping that he changes his mind, eventually." Which might actually be a futile hope, but still.

"You try putting him around some actual little kids?" Viktor asked, curiously. "Why don't you take him to a park or something...? Get him desensitized?" He seemed to be recovering from his wound, which had stopped bleeding. He must have been used to pain to be able to relax with that wound...a sad thought.
