Léan only relaxed when he noticed that Orion and Eden had settled down and were starting to drift off to sleep. He sighed quietly, curling up a little closer to Glory.
Glory rocked Autumn a little once the infant had finished nursing.
"You should try holding her again," she murmured to Léan. |
Léan made a face. "...I...don't know if that's such a good idea," he said, simply. "Perhaps she just wants to go to sleep, now?"
"She'll sleep just as well no matter which of us holds her," Glory replied. "You know she won't fuss or struggle like Orion would." She nuzzled him a little, still holding Autumn. "Just try for a couple minutes?"
Léan shrank away, visibly unnerved. "Perhaps another time. I don't want to accidentally wake her up." That panicky side of him seemed to be difficult to eradicate...
Glory sighed and gently set Autumn down next to her brother. The infant was already asleep, and didn't stir when she was set down.
"You really should try to hold one of them again," Glory said. "You'll never get more comfortable if you don't." |
Léan made a 'humph'-like noise and settled down again. He knew that was true...he just didn't want to be the cause of anything that went wrong. If they wanted to sleep, he would let them sleep instead of trying to hold them...
Glory settled down next to him, though she kept an eye on the children. They were all asleep for the moment, but they could wake up at any time.
Eden seemed to be the least sleepy of all of them. She could hold her own a lot more easily than the twins, but she was still a baby after all. She stirred every once in a while, but she never rose from where she was laying.
Léan paid them no mind for the moment. He was simply listening for any trouble. |
Glory settled in a bit for a nap. She was comfortable, and if she thought she could move them without waking them, she might actually move the twins over so they could snuggle in next to her. She probably wouldn't complain if Eden snuggled in as well.
Léan was asleep sooner than she was this time. He was tired and didn't want to have to worry about anything at all, such as intruders coming into the cave...
Glory dozed for a little while, but didn't fall into a deep sleep, just in case any of the children woke up.
Léan didn't mean to fall into a deep sleep, but because of the way he was feeling he most definitely did. He did not sing in his sleep, though...a good thing, since that would probably have an effect on Orion and Autumn--they were, after all, changed humans.
Glory was woken up when Autumn started to fuss. Picking up the infant, Glory held her close and rocked her a bit. Autumn calmed down after a little while, which meant that all she really wanted was to be held.
Orion woke up when Autumn did, but he held none of her desire to be held. He instead curled up tighter, huffing slightly, and went back to sleep. Eden didn't even stir--she was out like a light.
Léan didn't stir, either. |
Glory held Autumn for a while, until the child fell asleep again. Once she was sure that Autumn wouldn't wake up if she was put down, she gently settled her next to Orion again.
Orion stirred when his sister was set down next to him. He shifted a bit and laid his head down next to hers, feeling a bit more comforted now that she was by his side.
Glory noticed how Orion relaxed when Autumn was next to him again, and she smiled a bit. She could tell they would be good siblings.
Léan suddenly stirred, hearing something shuffling around outside. He lifted his head just a bit, his eyes rather cloudy and bleary. "...Just a big fish..." he muttered, lowering his head onto his arms again.
Glory snuggled closer to him.
"Go on back to sleep, then," she murmured. |
Léan stretched slightly, opening his eyes once more. "I would, but I'm hungry," he admitted, mournfully. "I think I'll go out and catch something for myself...possibly for Eden, as well, since she's eating solid food...do you want anything?" He began to raise himself up from where he was laying.
"Whatever you find is alright with me," Glory replied. She was getting hungry, too, and she had to stay and look after the twins.
Léan nodded idly, and he quietly sneaked past the twins and Eden. He didn't want to disturb them. Once he was out of the cave, he headed straight for the coral reef to catch some fish.
Glory moved and curled up a bit closer to the children so she could keep an eye on them. It would be easier to get to them if she was actually within reach.
Léan did not return for at least a half hour. When he finally did come back, he had two nice-sized fishes for himself and Glory and a smaller fish for Eden to nibble on.
Thankfully, Eden was awake by this time and eagerly reached out for her fish, which he handed to her. |
