Léan returned after twenty minutes looking relieved, and just a tad bit concerned. "There are no signs of them anywhere..." It was a bit worrying.
"I don't know where they would be," Glory replied. She would offer to help him look, but that would mean taking the children with them, and that wasn't a good idea. The children would only slow them down.
"They're probably on the far side of the area where I haven't yet explored," Léan replied, quietly. "If need be, we could always take the children inside for a while and have someone look after them. Eden doesn't need water to survive...and she would be fine with somewhere to rest..."
"I suppose so..." Glory said. She didn't really like the idea of leaving the children with someone else, but if they had to...
Léan nodded, shifting a bit. "...I want to make sure their bickering hasn't turned into full-on fighting, after all. It's probably the pure lack of sleep that's putting Damon into a bad mood...he doesn't seem like the moody type."
...Unlike another merman Glory knew well... |
"Neither of them seem like they're really much for fighting," Glory replied. "Still... It's probably a good idea to find them, like you said."
Léan sighed. "Yes, I suppose it is. Do you want to take the three of them inside for now? We can always retrieve them later on," he added, hopefully.
"Alright," Glory said. "You take Eden, I'll get the twins... We can put the twins into the same crib, for now, and put Eden into the other one, unless you want to put her into the tank?" It was just a suggestion, really.
Léan had no problems scooping up Eden into his arms. She complained just a bit, pouting. "I think Eden would be more comfortable being curled up with the twins," he informed her, nodding firmly.
"Alright," Glory said. She'd figure something out. Even if she had to let them all snuggle in the same crib, she'd make sure they were comfortable. Reaching over, she gently picked up both of the twins.
Léan waited until she had the twins secure and then he led the way out of their cave, marking its location to memory so that he would not forget it. It took a few minutes to reach shore again, but once they did, Léan carefully crawled out of the water, his tail changing into legs.
Glory held the twins close and followed him out of the cave. When she got to the shore, though, she had to set the twins down on the sand so she had a free hand to get herself out of the water. Once she'd changed back and gotten her towel around herself, she wrapped each of the twins in a blanket and settled them in her arms again.
Orion didn't mind being set on the sand. In fact, he seemed elated by it--he picked some of it up in his hands and squished it around, laughing.
Glory couldn't help but smile a bit.
"Seems Orion likes playing in the sand," she commented. It was the first time she'd seen her son smile or laugh at all. |
Léan tilted his head slightly, watching Orion play with the sand. "...It seems like it," he agreed, turning towards the house. "But we had better get them inside to rest..."
Glory nodded.
"Let's get inside, then," she said. It had been a while since she last fed the twins, anyways, so she was expecting them to get hungry any time. |
Léan led the way back inside and then paused in the living room, turning back towards her. "For the life of me, I can never remember where the spare room is," he admitted, sheepishly.
"Down the hall, third door on the right," Glory replied. She didn't blame him... Before the twins were born, the spare room was never used, and after they were born, he avoided the room.
Léan awkwardly led the way down the hall. Eden was now awake and was fascinated by what she was seeing around her. She had never properly been up on land, after all.
Glory followed him down the hall. Once she was in the 'nursery', she immediately set about putting the twins into pajamas. They would be warmer and more comfortable that way, even though they'd be snuggling together later.
Eden, who didn't have any pajamas and certainly couldn't fit into either of the twins' pajamas, just watched her put the pajamas on the twins with a confused look on her face.
Once the twins were dressed, Glory set the one at a time into one of the cribs. Autumn kicked her legs experimentally and giggled, clearly delighted to see her feet again.
((Heading to bed. Night!))
Orion was not so happy to see his feet again. It seemed he much preferred having a tail. Nonetheless, he curled up closely with his sister, intent to get back to sleep. Léan set Eden down gently next to them. There was enough room for all three of them, he was glad to see. |
"Let me just go and ask Nana is she'll check on them from time to time, and then we can go," Glory said once the children were settled. Autumn snuggled in with her brother and her cousin, content with napping now.
Léan nodded, lingering idly by the door. He was not looking forward to searching for Archie and his mate, especially if they were to find the two of them fighting...
