Léan seemed to have no problem with that. He cuddled close with her, trying to distract himself from the fact that the children were there...
|
Glory cuddled close to him, purring softly. She rested her head on his shoulder gently.
Autumn amused herself trying to roll over instead of staying settled on her back. She saw her cousin swimming around, and moved her tail experimentally, trying to do the same. |
Léan adjusted his position so that she could see the children and they could sprawl out and relax.
Orion was flicking his tail aroung aimlessly, hoping he would get somewhere. |
Autumn kept flicking her tail experimentally, and giggled when she was able to move a little bit on the sand. She didn't mind that she was learning as she went; that was half the fun.
|
Orion was just stubborn. He got frustrated when he couldn't properly move, though he was shifting around in the sand with ease.
Léan was quiet. He didn't want to disturb their fun. |
It took a while, but Autumn finally started to figure out what worked and what didn't. She accidentally bumped into her brother as she practiced, and giggled.
Glory watched them as well, making sure they didn't hurt themselves. |
Orion swatted her away in a careless sort of way as he struggled to right himself. He was getting too frustrated to make any sort of progress...
|
Autumn ignored his bad mood and cuddled with him, somehow already knowing how to deal with her brother when he was being stubborn and frustrated.
Glory had to stop herself from reaching over and helping him. She knew he had to learn on his own, and he wouldn't learn if she was constantly there to fix what he was doing wrong. |
Orion reluctantly settled down once Autumn cuddled with him again. He looked upset, like he felt he was some sort of failure for not being able to swim like Eden could.
Léan was ignoring them, for the most part, and leaving them to their own devices for now. |
Glory got to the point that she couldn't watch Orion struggle anymore, and she leaned over to pick him up gently. Autumn protested her snuggle-buddy being taken away, but only biefly.
|
Orion was frowning, looking irritated. He closed his eyes, quite unhappy. He wanted to learn. He was probably far too little to try and learn--Eden had had to wait at least two weeks before trying to learn.
|
Glory held him close and softly rubbed his back a little, trying to calm him down. She could tell he was frustrated, she recognized the expression he was wearing, but there wasn't much she could to do help. He was just too young yet to really learn.
|
Orion still didn't seem to want to calm down. He whined, showing signs of starting to cry. If he cried, his sister would most likely cry, as well.
Léan frowned, not liking the thought of that happening. But he didn't know what to do. He tried to think of what he could do. |
Glory held Orion and murmured soothingly to him, though inwardly she was getting a bit nervous. If the twins both started to cry, she wouldn't be able to calm them both down at the same time.
|
Léan finally sighed and held his arms out. "I have an idea," he muttered, glumly. "But she might get jealous, so be prepared to do the same if she does..."
|
Glory was surprised that he was willing to hold Orion, but she nodded and handed him the infant. Once he had his son, she reached down and picked up Autumn.
|
Léan took him awkwardly and then rose up from where he was laying. He held Orion out underneath him and swam in lazy circles around the rocks, giving Orion the sense that he was swimming.
Orion readily accepted that feeling, immediately calming down and seeming much happier. |
Glory watched, noticing how quickly Orion calmed down. She was impressed, both at how quickly Orion was placated and at Léan's willingness to interact with the children.
Autumn saw what was going on, and she did indeed get jealous. She fussed and reached out towards her brother and her father. |
Léan simply didn't want to bear the crying. Eden swam alongside them cheerfully, laughing. She was a lot like Archie. He glanced towards Glory rather pleadingly. He didn't think he'd be able to handle both twins at once.
|
Glory gathered Autumn into her arms and went to catch up with her mate.
"Here, take her and let me hold Orion for a bit," she said softly. That way, he wouldn't have to deal with them both at once. |
Léan handed Orion over at once, seeming glad to do so. He felt extremely uncomfortable holding Orion, ten times more so than holding Autumn.
|
Glory took Orion and held him, letting Léan take Autumn. If Orion ended up getting fussy again, she would try to calm him down the way her mate did, but she also knew that the twins would be getting hungry soon.
|
Léan did the same for Autumn as he had done for Orion--he took her in circles around the rocks and gave her the sensation of swimming.
Orion did not get jealous. He was tired now, and hungry. |
Glory held Orion close and waited until he let her know he was getting hungry. He wasn't crying or fussing yet, but she knew it was just a matter of time.
|
((I'm heading to bed. I don't feel so well...night.))
Sure enough, Orion began to whine and whimper, his tail swishing around rather quickly. It was his way of letting her know--he wasn't going to cry unless she ignored him. |
