"I don't think that this could be considered the same thing," Glory pointed out. "A dog is significantly different than a person."
"Yes. A dog wouldn't be able to settle as easily as a person would, being cooped up," Selena insisted. "Just trust me. As long as he's quiet and mostly still, it should go well."
Glory sighed.
"I'll run the idea by him, but if he's not comfortable with it, then I won't push it," she said. "Why are you so eager to do this, anyways?" |
"I had a good idea, and I don't want it to go to waste," Selena informed her, content. "Plus, you were lookin' kinda lonely, there...a warm weather climate means more time in the water, doesn't it?"
"...Forgive me if I think there's something you're not telling me," Glory finally murmured. She couldn't help but be suspicious. She knew she would be a posessive girlfriend, if she and Léan ever got that far. So she naturally got a bit jealous when an ex came into the picture.
"You have every right to be suspicious," Selena informed her, nodding. "I don't want him back. I'm sure of that much. You don't have to worry about that..." Now that she had lost Viktor, for the most part, she would just find someone else. And she was absolutely sure she wanted that someone else to be human.
"I just don't want anything to happen to him, that's all," Glory replied. "He deserves better than that."
"Nothing's going to happen," Selena repeated, nodding. "I promise." It seemed like she meant what she said...
"We'll see," Glory replied. She shook herself slightly. "Come on, let's go and see what's on Discovery or Sci-Fi or something. Friday nights are usually good."
"Okay. Should we take our food with us?" Selena asked, noting that it seemed cool enough to eat, now.
"Sure," Glory said. "Nana and I eat in the living room all the time. It's not like we really need all the space at the table, after all."
"Okay, then. Sounds good." Selena easily helped her divide the food between the two of them. "Plates or bowls? And should we get something to drink?"
"Plates should be fine," Glory said as she pulled down two clean plates. "Feel free to root through the fridge for whatever you want to drink."
Selena scampered over to the fridge and searched through it, quietly. She found a gallon of orange juice and decided on that, grabbing a glass for it.
"Grab me a bottle of water while you're in there?" Glory asked as she carried both plates into the living room. Setting them down on the coffee table, she picked up the remote and clicked on the TV, searching through the channels for something to watch.
"Sure." After she poured her juice, Selena grabbed a bottle of water and headed out into the living room, sitting next to her on the couch. She set the bottle down near Glory.
"Thanks," she said as Selena sat down. "Anything in particular you want to watch?"
"Not really, no" Selena replied, rather genially. She seemed perfectly comfortable, now.
"Alright," Glory said, turning on Discovery. If nothing else, it would just end up being background noise.
Selena watched the TV curiously, as she rarely watched it to begin with. She tried the fish and smiled. "It's really good..."
Taking a bite, Glory nodded in agreement. She always did like fried fish, so she knew how to make it well. She settled back into the couch, relaxing.
Selena watched the television wordlessly for a while, also sinking back into the couch. She didn't quite know what to talk about. She was so glad she wasn't with her mother tonight...
"A quiet evening is nice once in a while, huh?" Glory asked after a little while. "It's nice to just relax."
"Yeah...my evenings usually aren't quiet. My mother never gets off her phone..." Selena murmured, very relaxed.
"I know how that is," Glory replied. "You know how most people have that inner strength? Kind of like the force of will? I think my mom gave up on hers. She was in a twelve-step for gambling, but she just kind of... stopped. I figure I only happened because she had a debt to repay to some guy, and that's how he decided to collect." She sighed. "She's still my mom, you know? But I'm glad I'm living with Nana now."
