Glory laughed a bit.
"I'm sure you'd be able to handle it," she said. |
Léan snorted. "Oh, yes. So sure..." He blinked, then sneezed. "Ah, excuse me..."
"You alright?" Glory asked. It wasn't really allergy season anymore, but what did she know about what he could be allergic to?
Léan nodded, stretching out a bit. "...What to do, now...would you like to see if I fit into that suitcase?" he asked, tilting his head curiously.
"Alright," Glory said, getting up. She brushed the sand off her pants and then went to her car to manhandle the suitcase out of it. Once it was free, she dragged it to the beach.
Léan studied it, tilting his head. It looked like it was made of comfortable material...maybe it was comfortable inside, as well. If it wasn't, he would need to be wrapped in a blanket beforehand to avoid chafing or getting brushburns.
Unzipping the suitcase, she opened it. It honestly looked like it could hold Léan and then some. It would probably need some sort of padding to make it comfortable, but that was easily enough taken care of.
Léan was easily able to crawl up into it. He had space, of course. He would need a blanket and possibly a pillow, but it would work. "It works...I like it."
"Wonderful," Glory said. "I can put blankets and a pillow in it for you, to make it more comfortable."
Léan nodded, smiling. "That sounds good." He wiggled his way back out onto the sand, shaking his hair out. "I believe this will go well."
"I hope so," Glory said, closing the suitcase again. "You deserve a good vacation."
Léan nodded, smiling. He yawned widely, unsure of what to do, now. The water was really cold, so swimming together was out of the question...
Leaning over, Glory gave him a hug. She wasn't sure why she did it, she just knew that she wanted to. She hadn't been able to give him any hugs for the last few days because the water had gotten so cold, and he'd never gotten closer to the shore than the rocks before today.
Léan, as he had so many times before, just tensed a little, his arms limp by his sides. He was not one for hugs and he rarely returned them...it was a difficult habit to break.
Glory let him go, a little disheartened. He still wouldn't return a single hug... Not that it would stop her. She liked giving hugs, regardless of whether or not the intended person returned it or not. Still... It was nice to get a hug in return, sometimes.
Léan fixed his eyes on the ground. "...I'm sorry if I offended you. It's a difficult habit for me to break...I'm not used to returning hugs," he apologized, quietly.
"You don't have to apologize," Glory replied. "If you tell me to stop, I will, it's no big deal..." And just when she thought that they might actually be starting to get close, she had to go and ruin things... That was just her luck.
Léan shook his head quickly, going a little pink. "No, no--I...um...I don't mind getting hugs...they're okay, I just...have problems returning them because it's an old habit of mine..."
"Are you sure?" Glory asked, wrapping her arms around her knees. "Like I said, if you want me to stop..."
"No, no--that's not it at all," Léan reassured her firmly. "It's just an old habit. I'll get over it as time goes on...sorry it's inconveniencing you."
"Inconvenience?" Glory repeated. "It's not an inconvenience. It's not like I'm going to give up on giving you hugs, after all."
Léan raised an eyebrow. "Well, I suspected that much. I simply didn't want you to feel neglected because of my old habit. I'm not used to touching people, let alone hugging them, after all."
"I guess it makes sense," Glory said. She didn't mention that she didn't get many hugs when she was little, since it didn't seem all that important. She hoped he would open up a little more, but she figured that was just a vain hope. She couldn't change him, after all.
Léan shifted a bit, sighing slowly and heavily. He seemed to be relaxed--his tail swished back and forth lazily in the soft sand.
Glory absently drew little swirls and spirals in the sand, not sure what to say next. It had been a while since they'd had such an awkward silence...
