"Go ahead," Glory said. She figured Selena would go off and do her own thing. It didn't bother her at all.

Thankfully, Selena gathered up her beach supplies and headed out.
As soon as she was out of the room, Léan poked his head out of the suitcase briefly to shake his hair out. It was a landmine of static electricity from being in the suitcase for so long. |
Glory couldn't help but laugh when she saw his hair sticking up all over the place.
"Sorry, that was probably from the blanket," she said between giggles. "Fleece does that." |
Léan frowned, seeing she was laughing at the horrid state of his hair. "What is this? I have never felt this before..."

"It's called static electricity," Glory said. "I'm not surprised you've never seen it before, it doesn't happen when things are all wet. Here, give me your hand, I can make it go away. It'll sting, though, I'll warn you."

Léan raised an eyebrow. "Sting? ...It had better work." He'd been 'stung' before, by jellyfish. Léan couldn't stand jellyfish. They were the only sea creatures he simply couldn't stand. He held out his hand.

Reaching out Glory touched the back of his hand, letting the spark jump between them and disperse the static. She saw his hair immediately relax and lie flatter.
"Ah, I felt that all the way up my arm," she said, shaking her hand off. "But the static is gone now." |
Léan had jumped when the charge was shifted, but he patted at his hair, smiling. "Thank you...it was killing me. It was sticking to the sides of the suitcase."

"It's an easy enough fix, but it's annoying before you fix it," Glory agreed. "It's worse with long hair, trust me on that one. All you need to do is ground the charge, but still. Anyways, ready to head outside?"

Léan perked up at once, and nodded. He seemed eager to take a dip in warm waters again. Plus, those exotic fish were just waiting for him out there.

"It'll be easier to get the whole suitcase down to the beach, so you'll have to stay in there for a bit longer," Glory said as she dug out her beach towel and her sunscreen. There was no way she was going to let herself cook on THIS vacation.

Léan scowled but retreated back into the suitcase. "Is it...a crowded beach? If so, I can hide..."

"I'm going to find the emptiest stretch of beach I can," Glory said. "I'll be just like back home."

Léan's face lit up--he had thought the beaches would all be crowded. "Oh...all right--that sounds good." It was clear he hadn't been expecting it to be such a nice vacation. He'd expected having to hide a lot.

"In case you haven't noticed," Glory teased, "I'm not big on crowds. I tend not to like people in general. Now come on, let's get outside before it gets too hard to sneak by everyone."

Léan chuckled darkly, like he wanted to make a funny comment, but he fully retreated back into the suitcase. "I am ready. Let's not dawdle."

"Right." Slipping her sandals back on, Glory wheeled the suitcase out of the room as quickly as she could, making sure to stay out of sight of everyone else. It wasn't easy, but she was able to get outside to the beach without being seen. Looking down the beach, she was able to see what Selena meant by the rocky part that people left alone. The rocks in the water were absolutely perfect, and almost exactly like the ones back home. Quickly, she made her way over and picked out a good place to settle in.
"Alright," she said, "I think we're good." |
Léan peeked his head out and glanced around before wriggling his way out of the suitcase and onto the sand. He shifted a bit, due to how hot it was, but he looked content now that he could smell sea air once more.

"Welcome to Hawaii," Glory said as she laid out her towel. "Watch out for volcanoes and hurricanes, and enjoy our stay." Sitting down on her towel, she started to put on the sunscreen, glad she remembered to bring it. The sun was much stronger than back home, and she knew she would burn without it.

Léan curled up in the sand for a moment, stretching, and then was easily able to roll himself down into the water--it wasn't far away. He stayed in the shallows--he'd only rolled in to wet his tail, which was starting to peel again.

"Is it warm enough?" Glory asked as she finished putting on the sunscreen. The label said 'waterproof', but she'd have to see just how waterproof it was for herself.

Léan had a blissful, tranquil look on his face. "It certainly is. While I'm not that affected by cold water, warm water is always nice..."

"Alright, then," Glory said as she climbed up onto one of the rocks. They weren't exactly like the ones back home, but they were good enough for what she had in mind. Once she was sure she wouldn't land on anything that would bite her back for it, she jumped into the water.

Léan swam out to meet her, stretching his tail out once he did and then shaking it a bit. "Damned peeling scales...it's the worst feeling in the world besides being injured..."

"I won't say I know what you mean, though it annoys me when my skin peels," Glory replied, brushing her hair from her face.
