"It's not that early," Glory pointed out. "It's nearly noon."

"I just woke up..." Léan complained, eyeing the still-hyper shark. "I was tired. I slept for quite a while..."

"I just woke up, too," Glory said as she let her feet dangle in the water. She would wait until the day for a bit warmer before going in.

"I see. You did not take part in their partying?" Léan asked, tilting his head. "Else, you would have never gone to sleep at all."

"I'm not really one for parties," Glory replied. "I'd rather not be around people acting stupider than usual."

"Mm...then you should stay away from your government," Léan teased, stretching himself out.

"Trust me, I would love to," Glory replied. "How those idiots got into power is beyond me."

"I'm sure politics in your world is nearly the same as in mine. Buy voters. Trust lobbyists. Take money from lobbyists. Live a life of luxury while overtaxing citizens and fighting pointless wars over dwindling unrenewable resources..." Léan mumbled.

"Sounds about right," Glory agreed wryly. "Some things are universal, it seems."

"Quite..." Léan shifted. "What are we going to do today?" he added, curiously.

"I have no idea," Glory replied. "Most of the things on this island involve other people."

Léan frowned. "I suppose they do..." Suddenly, he paused, and then he ducked under the rocks, quickly, gently pulling the shark along with him.
"What are you doin' out here all alone?" Viktor was a little ways away from the beach, leaning against one of the trees farther in-shore. |
Glory looked around when Léan vanished, and almost jumped when she heard Viktor.
"It's... quieter out here," Glory replied carefully. It was technically true, after all... |
Viktor arched an eyebrow at her tone, and walked forward slightly. "I thought I heard someone else's voice..." he added, also carefully.

"They say hearing voices is a sign of insanity," Glory replied dryly, not moving from her rock.

"I already know I'm insane. But nah...the fact that I heard a voice isn't what gets me." He stopped near the rocks, where the water began. "The fact that I recognized the voice is what gets me."
Léan had said he'd met Viktor while he was out of the water... |
"Recognized how?" Glory asked. "We're hundreds of miles from home, how you could recognize any voice besides the people who came with you is beyond me."

"I don't forget voices. Whoever was just talking with you...I remember that voice." Viktor folded his arms across his chest. He didn't know what Selena had seen, but he did remember that odd blonde boy she used to hang around with...until he'd mysteriously disappeared.

"I'm still not sure what you're talking about, but alright," Glory said. "I'm the only one out here on this beach. Well, besides you, now."

Viktor folded his arms across his chest. "Bullshit...I know what I heard." Viktor was dressed in a sleek black and green wetsuit...a surfer's garb. "I know that voice...wouldn't happen to have been a Léan you were talking to, would it?"

Glory just raised an eyebrow.
"Unless whoever that is was on some other plane..." she trailed off. "Maybe you've taken one too many waves to the head." |
"I've taken many waves to the head. They haven't affected my performance at school yet," Viktor informed her, offhandedly. "I suppose you won't mind if I take a look around the water, would you? It was certainly coming from your direction." He sounded determined to find this person. He blamed Léan for Selena's month-long depression--it had happened after he'd vanished.

"You really think someone else is here?" Glory asked. She gestured around the very deserted beach. "I'm pretty sure you'd have seen someone else by now, even if they were under water. Humans can't exactly hold their breath indefinitely, you know."

"I know there are little nooks underneath the rocks here. Some of them have air in them," Viktor muttered, stepping forward. He was determined to find that little punk.

"You really are paranoid," Glory marvelled, although inwardly, she was panicking. What if he really did find Léan? She was doing what she could to distract Viktor, but it was getting to the point that Léan would have to have the sense to bolt if he needed to.
