Léan was able to slide into the water with ease, and he quickly gained his bearings. The tank was large enough for both of them to swim around in, thankfully.
|
"Good enough?" Glory asked, climbing back down the ladder. She didn't like heights much, and there were far too many disaster scenarios going through her mind for her comfort. She'd be much happier back on the floor.
|
Léan nodded underwater and then poked his head above the surface. "...I just thought of something. You might want to locate Selena and explain this," he suggested. "I do not think she will react so well coming back to this without and explanation."
|
"I almost was to just spring this on her, but it's probably not a good idea, so you're probably right," Glory replied.
|
Léan nodded. He was aware of Selena's reactions to mostly unwanted surprises...more than aware. And he didn't want anything bad to happen.
|
Reaching for her cell phone, Glory sent a quick message to Selena.
'Beware, fish tank in our room.' |
It took Selena a few minutes to respond. And she didn't seem too happy.
'What do you mean? Why is there a fish tank in our room?' The wariness was evident. |
Glory thought for a moment, trying to figure out how to word her reply.
'There was an unforseen issue,' she replied carefully. |
There was less of a wait this time for Selena's response. It sounded just as wary as the last, possibly even more so.
'Um...elaborate? Please?' |
'Well, apparently I'm taking a shark home... and Léan says there's something out there he really doesn't want to run into, and I'm inclined to believe him.' Glory replied, trying to make sure it would fit into one message.
|
Selena's response had a mixture of emotions.
'...Something he doesn't want into, but you're taking a shark home with you? That's...a little odd.' |
'Nah, the shark was kind of my idea, it took a liking to us,' Glory replied.
|
'It's still a shark,' Selena insisted. 'That's a danger. What could possibly be more dangerous than that?'
|
Glory sighed.
'I'll try to explain things when I see you next,' she replied. Hopefully, she wouldn't just end up confusing her more... |
'I'll hold you to that.'
Selena cut it off there, obviously a little wary about what she would find when she returned to their room. |
((I've got nothing... any ideas? I'll edit this post into a real post when we know what to do.))
|
((Hm...well, they're kind of stuck at the moment. Maybe...Glory could push him for more details about his father, or try to confront him and chase him away herself?))
|
Once she finished talking to Selena, Glory looked outside. It was still a nice day out... Going over to the bed, she grabbed her towel again.
"I'm going to go outside and get a bit more sun before I turn in for the day," she said. Opening her phone again, she sent one last note to Selena. If I'm not in the room when you get back, I'm out on the beach. |
Léan nodded, watching her get ready. "I will try to calm our shark friend down. He still seems peeved about being plucked out of the ocean," he noted, amused.
Okay. I'll probably be out late, though. Short and to the point. Apparently, she didn't want to stay in the room alone with Léan. Not yet. |
That's fine, Glory replied to Selena. Once she left the room, she made sure to lock the door so nobody accidentally walked in, then she made her way down to the beach.
Her stretch of the beach was deserted as always, but she didn't mind. Spreading her towel out, she took off her shorts and shirt and laid herself out in just her bathing suit. She told herself she wouldn't stay out long, since she didn't want to burn. The sound of the waves was soothing, and reminded her of home... |
The water was calm, and there were barely any waves--there were waves far out, of course, but nothing too close. There was suddenly a loud splash a little ways out into the ocean, near the larger, more jagged rocks, covered in moss. Near the water, there was a flash of something dark emerald green before it disappeared, quickly...
Eerily like the color of the scales the young shark returned with earlier... |
Glory heard the splash and sat up, looking out over the water. That was a pretty familiar sound by now, so she figured she knew what to look for. Getting up, she went to one of the rocks half on the beach and half in the water, climbing up onto it to get a better look around.
"Alright," she said, "I'm not stupid. I know you're out there." |
The response she received was a deep, watery, somewhat bitter laugh from beneath the rocks, a little bit in front of her and another splash.
Almost like he was daring her to come after him. Léan had said the man hated humans, because they killed his wife. |
"I'm not falling for that one," Glory retorted, sitting down on the rock. "I'm staying within range of the shore, thanks. Drowning's not all that high on my list of things to do on vacation."
|
There was nothing for a few minutes, then a dark figure shot out from under the rocks and swam in several slow, predatory circles around the rock.
http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/o...jpg?1279773760 He was bitter-looking, and the only thing he seemed to share with Léan was his skin tone. |
