Tales of Vesperia help?
 

So this is my first RPG, and for the most part, I guess, I've been doing decently. But now I'm stuck on a part and have been stuck on this part for a long time. That's the battle with Alexei. I've tried looking up stuff, but they're always so vague on it or say it's easy and move on with the rest of the tutorial. I get the having to knock Alexei down after he's exhausted from doing his Mystic Artes. I've gotten him down to where his sword is green, but then he does his Guardian Frost Artes and he gets his health back up. Then he'll start spamming that move and I don't know how to stop him. I tried using Judy's Moonbeam, but it doesn't stop him in time. Then he just...kills me. So...what are your suggestions? I think in my current party, my team is Yuri, Judith, Rita and Estelle.

Honestly all I can say is go back and grind. I found the fight to be quite easy too. Never developed a strategy pasted push attack button over and over again.
Maybe try and do big combos on him, do you have the Auto over limit glove thing for Yuri? That helps quite a bit for continuing a combo. Buy some healing items and keep Estelle alive would help. She's horribly valuable to most fights. Or she was for me.
But main thing is just go back and kill enemies til you gain a few levels. Should help.

Depending on where you get your information about it, you could check other sites on strategies to beat him. One of the sites I use if I need a walkthrough/strategy guide is gamefaq.com. Ive never really found a site better than theirs for the majority of RPGs I play that I end up getting stuck on.

I was looking on GamefaQ. They were really vague and just passed over the whole fight without mentioning that much. =/ My characters are currently...level 57?

Where do you get an Auto overlimit glove for Yuri? D: I'm fully stocked on all healing items and...I'm actually best with Estelle....or Rita. D: But I interchange between characters constantly throughout the fight. I don't see how it's easy. [Maybe I just fail. xD]

Im not sure what to tell you then. I would have to replay the game, figure out what level I am/was when I beat it, and then get back to you on strategy. Only problem, thats a long way from the start of the game...and Ive got loads of games to actually beat before I replay some of the ones I already beat.

Oh, I see....Well, I wouldn't want you to go through that kind of trouble for my sake, lol. xD I'll figure it out one day.

The limit glove is from the store section for making things. Sorry been a while since I played so don't recall names. Checking a FAQ I think it's called Tyrant fist. I'm not sure if you can even make it yet.

Middle part sounds right. Knock him down after his Mystic Arte... It says level 54 should be good and your 57? Hm. Well try that and if no good then try getting a few more levels. Hopefully it works out for you.

...c.c....I so totally looked at that tutorial. I probably read it when I was half-asleep. I'll try again....I hate Alexei so much. I want him dead.

Eh, Tutorials can be easily misread. Hope it works out for you. I had more trouble with a certain Pink haired lady then with Alexei. But all my friends beat her way easier then they beat Alexei.

OH. Well damn. I'm slow. xD Not yet, I haven't tried yet. But from what I've been learning....it seems an all-male cast has a better winning percentage. So....I'll probably use Raven or Yuri and have Repede and Karol in the party.

Raven, Yuri, Estelle and Judith were my team. But they were all I used. Playing as Yuri. Pay attention to health and continue pounding him with Yuri. I hope ya' get get it.

Thank you. D: As of now, I'm just traveling around killing giganto monsters for xp and to learn new artes. 8D I don't really use Yuri all that much just because...he bores me. I like using Judy, Raven, Rita and Estelle. Sometimes if my characters are losing health, I'll switch to Estelle and use her the rest of the match. Thank you. <3

Was never good with Essy xD Yuri was probably my best, at least once I got the limit breaker (or over limit? Ya. Over limit, Limit breaker was FF7 xD) gloves, it became easy as pie to get like 500 hit combos. Then on my second play through getting some of the magic boosts with Rita she became my best character making it easy to get over 1000 hit combos. Though Raven was my favorite.

Did you beat him finally?

Where do you find those gloves? D: I searched for them, but couldn't find them.

Gloves are made in Synthesis part of the shop. Not sure when you can make 'em though.
