THAT WAS MY SOAP DANGNABIT!! >:(
Ok, a few weeks ago I got a little extra money for babysitting (at great expense to me considering most of the time I can't stand little children) and I decided to go shopping. Now I am a very girly girl at times, some say I'm vain, but I like to think of it as I take pride in my appearance and my scent.
So, I went into Body Shop and got this gift set that smells amazingly good, sort of like a fruit smoothie, but better. This set which had soap, body butter, bubble bath and a sponge, set me back £20 which was nearly all my cash gone. So I took it home and left it in the bathroom. I forgot about it until yesterday night, so I was going to go for a nice pampering bath before bed when lo and behold I got to the cupboard and my fruit smothie gift set box had been opened and ransacked. The soap was gone, the bubble bath most was used, even the body butter had a huge glod out of it! Some sneaky evil little person had used all my new (and expensive) soap so that I suffered children for nothing! :illgetu: Does anyone else have problems with house mates or family members not respecting property or selfishly just helping themselves to your stuff? |
Did you mention it to anyone that it was yours and only yours?
I would be really angry if I were in your shoes. :/ I'd tell them to fork over the cash for what they used of your items. |
Yeah, I came in and showed them my purchase, saying how I couldn't wait to use it and then stored it in the bathroom cupboard.
Sadly I haven't found out who did it yet, so I need to sniff all my housemates to see who it was :illgetu: |
Gah, I hate when people do things like that >.<, hopefully you can find out who it was that did that, so they can repay you for what they did.
I don't have this problem all the time, seeing as I keep 99% of my stuff in my bedroom. But whenever I go somewhere for a day or so, my step brother (who's 17) will come into my room and will go through my stuff. I'm not a girly girl, and I have quite a few nifty electronics in my room. He has used my keyboard without my permission. I noticed that one when I got home, and it had been moved and flipped the other way (I'm pretty observant with my stuff). And he's gone through my manga (some of it has nudity in it, so him being a guy, he just has to go and find the naked girls). And not that long ago, I got speakers from my best friend for ten bucks, so that way I can play my music in my room without having to use headphones for my i-pod. And he loves to use those when I'm gone. Sure, he'll ask if he can use my stuff every now and then, but most of the time, no. I just wish that I could lock up my room so he couldn't get in there. Later today I'm going over to my best friends house (because tomorrow we are going to take a tour at Job Corps), and I know that my step brother is going to go through my stuff again. Little does he know that this time I'm taking an important cord to my speakers, so he can't use them :3 |
Yeah, I normally keep all my stuff in my bedroom too, otherwise people will end up moving me without telling me, it's just easier that way.
Ugh, that would annoy me to no end. At leas here they stay out of my room. Good idea on taking a speaker chord, serves him right for trying to use them  |
Most of my favorite stuff, is stuff that people want to use for some reason. Though I know that no one goes into my closet browsing stuff. If my closet door has been left open for some odd reason, I know that it was just my cat opening it XD (she did that last night actually). Good thing no one wants to use my art stuff though, well... my brother wanted to use my tablet before, but I told him NO! It's one of the only things I want no one else to use. He doesn't even know how to use a tablet, let alone how to use Photoshop Elements 6.0.
And it does annoy me to no end, I mean, I don't go into any one else's rooms going through their stuff. But the main reason why I'm taking that cord is because he didn't give me a simple "thank you" the last time he asked to use them. And when I got home from my friend's, they were still in his room. |
It's nice they don't rifle through your clothes then, one of my friends lives in the same house as me (stupid joint housing) so I often find make-up and the likes disappear.
I probably would go on a murderous rampage if someone got into my art stuff though, they are mine. I am very protective of them. You have a tablet? Oh, I would love a tablet. I was wanting one for christmas, sadly no. He doesn't even put it back? Smooth move  |
They have no reason to rifle through my clothing. And you share an entire house with friends and other people???
I'm just glad that there aren't any little kids running around my house. Because you know how much little kids love to "draw". I keep my art supplies organized, though scattered throughout my room. My tablet is on my dresser in the box it came in. My crayons are in a box on the top shelf in my closet. My paint supplies and older drawings are in a drawer. And my main supplies are in a cabinet like thing (which is completely organized). And I'd go insane if someone were to try and mess with my art stuff. Because I'll know if someone has D:<, but I got my tablet two Christmas's ago =O Oh yeah, he's too lazy to even do that. Hell, he can't even put his brush back where all the other ones go. He just leaves everything everywhere. It pisses me off to no end >.< (I hate having to deal with people who are disorganized, and don't pick up after themselves). And even if he were to put my stuff back without my knowledge of him knowing. I'm pretty observant when it comes to my things. The position, where I put something, you name it, I know it's precise location. |
Oh man, you live with room mates?
I don't know how anybody can do that. If I got an apartment, it'd be just me and one or two pets so I'm not completely alone. I live with my parents though and our five cats. XD A lot of people think it's odd that I'm still living with my parents because I'm 21, but I love it. I love my parents so much. <3 |
Oh my god it's so annoying when people do that. I get really angry.
But my parents respect my property, so I don't really need to worry about them. But my sister sometimes eats all my chocolate that I buy and then I need to go and buy more and put it somewhere else. But lately, I've been taping individual chocolate pieces under all the furniture pieces upstairs. She's only 6 (almost 7), so she's not that smart. She hasn't figured it out yet. Everyday, I move a few pieces from under the furniture in her room to mine. Since I eat a little bit of chocolate every night. There's no more candy left in her room, so now I'm slowly moving a few pieces each day from my parents' bedroom. :D I feel bad about the expensive soap that YOU BOUGHT and SOMEBODY ELSE USED. Okay, enough with the caps. Yeah, that's really rude, though. |
I've been using some Victoria's Secret body wash and lotion, I love it but, it isn't cheap. It seemed to be disappearing a little too quickly so, I sniffed my daughter's puff and, sure enough, I smelled my soap. She's 18 and has a job so, if she wants to use those sorts of things, she needs to buy it herself. I have been storing it in my bedroom since then. I don't know what makes her think she can use whatever she wants, without even asking but, that's what she does, no matter how many times I tell her not to. She was using my makeup too, she tried to deny it but, she finally admitted it. It's pretty bad when you can't keep things around because, someone else just figures that it's theirs to take.
|
Things like that make me really glad that I live by myself. When I lived with my parents and siblings they would always eat my food and use my stuff. It was like a free for all. No respect for my things or anything. Now that I live on my own no one touches my stuff since there is no one here to touch anything. I love it.

The house we live in is renovated and rented out to three seperate famillies for cheaper rent than a normal accomodation, that's why we're living there, though my dad says that as soon as we get back on our feet he is going to get us a proper house, but he won't, he likes it there, I suppose I do too, it's just I hate how there are so many people and no privacy.
I have taken to keeping things in my room now, and I have asked everyone in the house and I think it was Mellinda that used my stuff. She is probably my least favourite person who lives here, thankfully she is moving out in June. So yeah, annoying. She isn't even paying me back for it. My dad said that he would get me a new set but that isn't the point, I don't want him to pay for a new set when he never used it :( |
This doesn't happen to me. If someone wants to use my stuff they ask first. Whenever I buy shower gel/bubble bath/etc it is usually for everyone since I really don't care and usually buy it when it is on sell.
But people don't just use my stuff because they know if I find out they did I might just bite their head off. lol My step-sister used to "borrow" my movies but she stopped after I started calling her several times a day asking if she was bringing back my dvds. |
gotta label stuffs if you don't want it stolen. If not people will think its free game ;A;
|
When I still lived at home, my half-sister had this gawd awful habit of stealing anything of mine that she thought she might like, and then denying it later on. I even caught her on camera more than once and she would still give the " You're stupid, I wouldn't go into your room for anything like that" or " I was just in there to see if you had any dishes/soda cans/ect so that mom could finish up cleaning".
I'm so glad it's just my fiancé and I now... At least he asks if he wants to use something of mine. |
Normally I don't mind if people use my shower gel or shampoo, it's only if it's the expensive stuff that I start minding, considering that I don't give them permission, and it's always only this one girl that I live with, I really can't stand her, she uses everyones stuff and never asks or says thank you. She thinks she can get away with it just because she is young and pretty... oh how I despise people like that :(
Labelling things eh? That isn't such a bad idea  |
I too share the same problem with my room mates.
We do have stuff that we get for the house that we share, but we do buy stuff for only ourselves. I generally respect that they don't want to share it because I am the same way of course, but there are times that I come home to find that they are using my stuff after I have made it very clear that I didn't want anyone else touching it but me. Usually it's not stuff that is expensive, but stuff I use every day and really don't want to go out and buy more within that next week. Stuff like hair products, makeup, and lotion. If you want my advice, sometimes the best way to make sure that no one else uses your stuff would be to hide it somewhere in your room. Never never never forget it anywhere outside of your room because once it's out, it's free game in other people's eyes. |
Hmmm. YES. I lost £75 and $150 once.... in my room. When I was out of the house.
And the next day my big sister went on a shopping spree. Argh I get pissed off even writing about it! She was so angry when I accused her of taking it, and it all escalated into this massive fight (I attacked her, and she flushed my necklace down the toilet. D:) I STILL haven't found out who stole my money. (I don't really need to, but it would be nice if my sister came clean.) I had it all locked up, in my special hiding place, and I'd been saving it for years. Sob. :( What's worse is that my parents wont trust me with my money anymore. |
My roommate constantly used my printer, minifridge and all my dishes pots and pans. Like the minifridge I'm okay with, it's a fridge, until he started throwing out my food and stuff. So I sent the fridge home with my parents to spite him. And I was okay with him using my dishes, as long as cleaned them and treated them properly. But he didn't, whenever I wanted to use them they would be no where to be found, so once I did find them I hid them in the ceiling so he cannot use them. And he uses my printer constantly, I don't understand why you would come to university and not have a printer, but he constantly uses it, and paper and ink costs a fair bit of money, which he never pays me back for...ever.

thats happened to me before sadly i got ffaom soap for chirstmas didnt get to use one bit of it ends up one of my sisters was secretly useing it all w/o me knowing so i got a gift i didnt get to use the person who bought it for me used it all
|
First off, I love body shop!.
Secondly luckily not in the same way since I live alone, the parents help themselves whenever they visit which is a huge pain in the rear. They came over pester me and "toddle" which is what I call them acting like toddlers that need baby sitting/. If I'm busy and don't "babysit" them. Something is missing. Once my paycheck ended up in the dumpster. |
That's unbelievably rude to use someone's bath products without asking. I don't even share my soap with anyone, other than my husband on occasion. D:
When I lived with my family, I had a little pouch where I kept my bath stuff which I would take into the bathroom with me, then take it back to my room when I was done. Otherwise, my sisters would have a field day with them! It especially bugged me when we had visitors... I can't stand having other people touching my things. |
Yes, especially under the circumstances. Body shop is not cheap and generic stuff. I do not buy Body shop stuff as much as I'd like due to the expense of it. If someone saves up and splurges on more expensive items , that should be respected.
