Kasimir snorted. "You shouldn't let anyone put a damper on your true talent. My mother wanted me to be a professional athlete. She tried to push me. I pushed back as soon as I got into secondary school. She never bothered me again. You have to stand up for yourself."
He scowled even more. "She isn't even your true mother. She, technically, holds no authority over you." |
A nervous laugh slipped from her lips, "You're right...I should stand up for myself. Yet, I've continued playing anyway..." she trailed off, "So, a professional athlete? In what sport? What drew you to teaching?"
|
"Soccer." Kasimir rolled his eyes. "I was never fond of sports, or athletics. Yes, I'm about as lazy as you can get. I've wanted to teach ever since I was a preteen..."
|
"Sorry for all the questions. I'm not very athletic myself, although, Reika has been trying to teach me some self-defense because she's worried that I'll get nabbed and pulled into a white van."
She looked back at her friends who were chatting happily with Matt, "She has...a wonderful imagination, doesn't she?" |
Kasimir chuckled, then stretched. "Why make it white, if she has such a wonderful imagination? Make it every color of the rainbow. I don't think that will happen. If you have a feeling it might, I can give you something to protect yourself with." He looked around and dug in his pocket, pulling out and briefly flashing a small can of pepper spray. "I carry some with me at all times. It's come in handy more than once. I have extras, if you'd like one."
|
"She also likes her basics." Amais looked down at the pepper spray and took the can, "Thank you, Kaz. Though, I'm not great with listening to my gut feeling at times...such as today. I'm really sorry for earlier."
|
"Don't be," Kasimir assured her, grinning. "I like to put overly-arrogant teachers in their place. It was what I was known for back home in Italy. Administrations there were wary of me, because I don't take any abuse, or let it happen while I am around."
|
Amais smiled and admired his strength--the strength that she didn't have.
"Thank you." |
Kasimir patted her on the shoulder. "You are welcome. I'll see you in class tomorrow. We'll actually be learning..."
|
Amais laughed, "Well, isn't that every good student's dream?"
Reika came up behind her and tapped her back, "Let's go, don't want you to burn yourself with any chemicals tomorrow." "Oh...that's right." She whispered to herself before turning back to Kasimir, "I'll see you tomorrow! Thank you for coming!" As Amais waved farewell, Reika pulled her away and followed Amaya who was waiting at the door for them. The three were careful about heading through the school grounds when it was night and they normally ran to the dorms anyway at this time. Once they reached their dorm and Amaya used her key card to get them into the dorms, they each went and took a needed shower before heading to bed. "We're going to actually be learning in math tomorrow." Amais commented as she pulled the covers over herself. "Oh, joy." Reika complained and Amaya laughed as they both got into bed. "Goodnight." With returned goodnights, Amais fell asleep. |
Kasimir decided to head home to his apartment, instead of the room in the school dormitories, but he didn't move for a while, being very lazy and all. Once he finally mustered up the energy and motivation to stand, he paid for his drink and headed home, absently. He barely paid attention to people walking by him.
Once he got home and locked his door behind him, he immediately took a nice, hot shower and had some fried chicken as a snack, watching random shows on his television. As soon as he felt content for the night, he plopped down in bed, to sleep. |
The alarm screamed in the room waking Amais from sleep and causing Reika to throw her pillow at Amaya, who was still sleeping, to turn off the cause that woke her up.
Groggily, Amais sat up in her bed and slowly got out of the covers and went to the window to draw the blinds, letting in the morning light. The sunrise effectively woke Amaya and stopped Reika who was ready to shake the girl. Each went with their morning routine to get ready for school. "Two more days till Friday~!" Amaya exclaimed as she twirled around in her skirt. Reika threw another pillow at her, "Put your shirt on!" Amais laughed as she pulled on her knee high socks and put on her shoes. Standing she dusted off her uniform skirt as she looked at the two who also just finished. Smiling at each other they left and proceeded to the school along with the other students. |
Kasimir arrived at the school later than he should have. He was supposed to be there before the students started to file in, but he walked in once most of them were up and inside the school building. He was dressed in informal clothing, and looked half-asleep, totally unlike most of the uptight teachers here.
He unlocked his door, grumbling, to let a few students inside, and collapsed in his chair. He wasn't much of a morning person. |
Amais listened to Reika complain about how bubbly people could be in the morning as Amaya skipped away from them to be social and telling the two that she'd see them in homeroom. There were conversations that filled the halls as students made their way to class and the now duo had their own about band students as the subject was brought about by Reika.
Amais sighed as she thought about it, "I'm not sure. I do know that most of them will be really concerned and start to hate me." "Ah, more drama for you, huh?" "Yes...I guess so." Once they were in homeroom Amais waved to Kasimir and Reika went to drop off her things at her desk while Amais follwed suit. The two continued their conversation with Reika teasing her about band student pranks. |
Kasimir waved back and then dropped his head on his desk, groaning sourly. He looked like quite a few other students, who also were getting a few more minutes' worth of shut-eye before the first bell.
He wasn't all that concerned about the band director, or the students. He was more concerned for Amais' safety. |
Amais counted on her fingers how many people she had to worry about. There were the trombones who liked to make the usual naughty jokes, the percussion who enjoyed doing some 'weird' stuff, and most of the band members who she knew would hold a grudge.
"Amais, that's too many..." Reika replied. "I...oh, I know." She sighed, "What do I do? There's that large possiblity that they'll ambush me or create a large scheme to corner me." "And you say that I have the vivid imagination." "...I get it from you." Before Reika could make a comment Amaya rushed in and the bell rang. The students made their way to their seats, ready to 'listen' to the announcements. |
Kasimir lifted his head up unwillingly to half-listen to the announcements. He didn't particularly feel like teaching, but he supposed it was necessary for today.
|
Amais took out a folder with her music and began creating melodies in her head. There wasn't really any important announcments. Just about food, stay safe, and solo and ensemble.
Wait...solo and ensemble? Did she really want to go through with that? Amais could remember somewhere in the back of her mind that Matt was talking to her about some people who wanted her as an accompanist. |
Once the announcements ended, Kasimir groaned to himself and plopped his head back down, wearily. He had not had a good night--that much was obvious. He didn't know why, but he was so incredibly tired...
|
The bell rang and Amais packed her bags and went on to proceed with her usual routine of stand up, sit down, go to class, and repeat.
|
Kasimir did not like it, of course, but he actually got off his lazy rump to teach his classes today. They were going smoothly, in his opinion. He was glad that was the case--he wasn't fond of misbehaving classes.
|
Chemistry was the usual with the same reminder being spouted about making sure the goggles were worn and that lab coats stayed on while the students worked with or around chemicals. Amais and Reika were doing well with their lab and moved through it efficiently. But, then a student walked by with a chemical that was to be put in the fume hood, instead of making it there they dropped it right by Amais, the glass breaking and the reaction began steaming on the floor.
"Oops, sorry about that Amais." The student said with fake sincerity. Oh, this was exactly what she was afraid of. The chemistry teacher shot up and told the students to evacuate the building as he called the office that the other students and teachers be evacuated. Apparently, he let the student carry a dangerous chemical. As they were all situated outside Reika handed Amais' things to her with a smile. |
Kasimir had been in the bathroom when this alert had gone out, and instead of heading outside right away, he felt he had a right to carry on with his business before he went outside. As a result, he strolled outside much later than anyone else. Other teachers stared at him, like he was insane for being in there for so long.
He stared back, undaunted, and amused. |
Amais had to hold Reika back once she informed the taller girl that the student who dropped the chemical near her was a band student. She also had to cover her mouth so that she wouldn't let out any profanities and threats towards the class. It took her a while until she calmed down and closed her eyes, but once her violet eyes opened and she found Kasimir, the girl took Amais' hand and dragged her to him.
"I'm leaving you here. Amaya and I have to plan." Then Reika ran off to find the brunette. Amais looked up at her math teacher with a smile, "Quite an eventful morning isn't it?" |
"Mm-hm..." Kasimir hummed. "What happened, anyway? Somebody spill something?" He didn't seem to like the stares he was still getting from some of the stricter teachers, and he raised an eyebrow at them.
"I. Was On. The toilet. Get over it." Immediately, they coughed and looked away, surprised by his bluntness. Kasimir grinned, amused. "Ah...that's always fun." |
