Newbie Alert!

Heya, Menewsha! Looks like I'm new around here! o:

Man, earning gold here sure is harder than gaia, plus the 500 gold earning limit in the arcade, but I like this site, I think I'll stay o:

Anyway, hi everyone! :3

EDIT: Also, does anyone know how much a "Phear meh" would sell for in the Menewsha exchange forums?

McNugget 05-01-2010 09:46 AM

Hello, and welcome.Yes, earning gold is alot harder here than at gaia, but the prices here are also alot lower in the shops. And very sorry, but I do not know how much a phear meh would cost. But, nice to meet you. I have a friend who has the same prime name as you lol. How about you tell a bit more about yourself?

Minako Omizuki 05-01-2010 09:52 AM

@ Usuke: Dawrn s: , ahaaaa, thanks anyway, though~! It's nice to meet you to, btw!

Yes, I noticed that the prices were far cheaper than in Gaia o:

Really? Ahahaaaa...thats awesome! o: Most people might say I got my prime name from Sailor Venus...but...actually... '////' for the longest time I thought her name was NINA, It wasn't until I saw Sailor Moon Super S that I realized (yes, it was the episode when Diana, Luna and Artemis's daughter, came in) the back of "Nina's" room sign read "Minako"! ; ~;

How about you? What's your story? o:

McNugget 05-01-2010 10:03 AM

You're welcome. And, wow.. :rofl: How you missed her name like that, it's funny. What kind of story are you talkling about? How I got my name? Or do you just want me to say a few things in general?

Minako Omizuki 05-01-2010 10:07 AM

@Usuke- Yeah, I'm a ditz @ w @;;; and she was one of my favorites, too! :sweat:

Ah well D=;;;

haha, yes, I meant your username, its sounds interesting and I was wondering if there was a story behind it...?

o: btw, is that a picture of yourself in your signature? If so, you look very cool o:

McNugget 05-01-2010 10:16 AM

Well, my user name is actually my real name. I lacked the creativity when I made my account. lol No story behind it. And yes, that is me in my signature. In the picture I'm poking my eyes in to look American. And thankyou for the compliment.

Minako Omizuki 05-01-2010 10:19 AM

@ Usuke- Whoa, that's one really cool name! Minako is just my nickname on the net ^^;;;

I see, very neat! XD Hah, really? Nice!

McNugget 05-01-2010 10:23 AM

Umm.. Thanks :sweat: I always thought of it as a descent name. So, besides Sailor Moon, what other shows do you watch? Do you read any manga?

Minako Omizuki 05-01-2010 10:31 AM

:3 Ah, I see.

Hmmmm, that is a very good question....D: I haven't watched much lately...

Manga wise I usually read:
-Angelic Layer
-Cardcaptor Sakura
-Chii's Sweet Home,
-Kingdom Hearts, Fruits basket
-Orange no Chiisana
-Ouran High School Host Club
-Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles
-Great Teacher Onizuka (LOL)

and, uh, anime wise, I usually watch:
-Fusigi Yugi (eeeh :/ not that big a Watase fan, tbh)
-Cardcaptors ( =D LOVE IT~ )
-Love hina (lol, I like what I've barely seen, I plan on buying the DVDs when I get a job again, though)
-Inuyasha (eh, here and there on TV, it was ok :3;;; )
-Ouran High School Host Club ( = D oh yeah)

How about yourself? o:

McNugget 05-01-2010 10:37 AM

Well, lately I haven't been reading much, but the manga I am currently reading is : Naruto, Bleach, Inuyasha, Bastard & Soul Eater.
As for Anime, I haven't been watching that much either, but the most previous ones are Inuyasha, Devil may cry, Monster, Full Metal Alchemist "Brotherhood", Naruto, & Bleach.

Minako Omizuki 05-01-2010 10:42 AM

Oooooh, I've heard of Bleach and Soul Eater, I've heard they're good... But I've never heard of Monster, "Brotherhood", or Bastard, though... o:

Maybe I should invest into reading the mangas this summer, after classes are over... o:

LOL Devil May Cry. I heard the game was incredibly hard (especially Mission 19...?)
Have you played it? If so, is it as hard as God of War? D: I'm very curious...I ADORE God of War alsmot as much as I adore Final Fantasy D=

McNugget 05-01-2010 10:51 AM

First off, I put parentheses around "brotherhood" to refer to Full Metal Alchemist's brotherhood series.You've heard of that show, right? Full Metal Alchemist? And yeah, Devil may cry game was a bit hard, but not by much as long as you know what you're doing. As for the 19th mission, it was fairly challenging. =3 I'd have to say it is just about even to the difficulty of playing as God of War. and about Final Fantasy - I love all the final fantasy games. :XD Which one is your favourite? Mine is the V one. :)

Minako Omizuki 05-01-2010 10:59 AM

OOOOOH, lol, I've heard of FMA, and It was ok (I didn't get to watch much, even on TV, sadly) but I didn't know they had a brotherhood series. o: Very interesting!

Lol, I see...yeah, I've heard some things about Mission 19.. xD;;;

Ah, ok, yeah, I figured they were even... :3

Hmmm, thats a tough call: I like these all equally-

IV- Barbaccia!
VI- Kefka~!!!!!
VII- Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, Zack, and Vincent!
VIII- Squall, Rinoa, Quistis, and Selphie
IX- Zidane, Vivi, Eiko, Steiner, Beatrix, and Dagger (Princess Garnet)
X- Yuna

Izumi 05-01-2010 11:12 AM

My ears perked up when I caught "FMA" in spy. I absolutely LOVED that series! I got my husband to sit down and watch it with me and he loved it. Even the kids got a kick out of it, but it was probably difficult for my young step-kids to digest, it didn't spark some *very* interesting conversations between a then 8 year old little girl. As I said a bit young, but both her and her brother really enjoyed the episodes they watched and it gave her something intellectual to ponder.

I haven't gotten to see Brotherhood yet...I'm waiting until I can borrow it or rent it somewhere. I really struggle paying for Anime unless it is something I'd definitely want to watch more than once. (Escaflowne is another one of my classic favorites.)

Usuke - I love the name! I've not got any Asian blood in me, but I found the name Izumi to have a wonderful ring to it. Not to mention I absolutely fell in love with Izumi in FMA. Her whole back story is so moving.

----------

Oh yes and I forgot to welcome you to Menewsha!

And as a side note, do you live in America? We've become such a diverse culture these days, it's surprising that you consider that 'looking American'.

Ohh and my husband is an avid FF fan. I think he once said 6 was his favorite. I think 6 did mark a major turning point. I loved 7 too. 8 and 9 I never did get much into, and 10 I've yet to beat. *sighs* The older I get, the shorter my attention span for such things gets. :o

Minako Omizuki 05-01-2010 11:20 AM

o: @Izumi: That's awesome! I wish My mom was into anime...the only thing we watch together are movies, HGTV, and a lot of detective/ investigation shows ._.;;;;;

haha, I'll bet it did...especially the "equivalent exchange" part...and the fact that what they're looking for is also what Harry Potter was looking for in the first book! xD;;

Izumi 05-01-2010 11:24 AM

Well I think it really hits home that your actions have consequences and that sometimes when you make those actions you don't realize the impact it has on those around you. We had a really deep conversation (which I hope has stuck with her) about how she needs to be sharp and try to think of long term impacts and just exactly who she's effecting.

She's 10, nearly 11 now and I really hope that having me in her life has given her a fresh perspective on life. Her mother isn't really known for her intellect, poor child. She definitely does have potential if she'd push herself academically.

----------

You know the more I think of it, the more I think she'll turn out like a close friend I have. A really pretty girl, who is very smart and does really well in college but she really struggles with her self image and feeling insecure. Which is a shame. I'd more than happily swap bodies with her as I was kinda robbed at the gene pool as far as that goes. T_T

Minako Omizuki 05-01-2010 11:29 AM

@ Izumi: Yes, I agree...Children need to know that for everything they do affects others, whether they see it or not...maybe they wouldn't be so cruel to other children if they knew how permanently the trauma was...I hope if I ever get married and have kids my child will always keep in mind that pharse "equivalent exchange" and the golden rule D:

It's a good thing she has a wonderful Step-mother like you in her life, Izumi ^ ^
Yeah, I know how it is @. @:;; that's what my mother says to me all the time xD;;;;

Izumi 05-01-2010 11:33 AM

What does your mom say to you? That you're bright and pretty?

It's a shame so many attractive girls really struggle with their body image. I mean it seems like EVERY girl goes through it...more so than guys. It still impacts them, but not nearly as bad. I spent many years not feeling 'good enough' for love and while I still struggle with self image I wouldn't swap my life for someone else's. I love my husband and my two step kids, and if anything I wish they were my own. :)

McNugget 05-01-2010 11:36 AM

@ Izumi: No, I do not live in America. I'm in Ichihara, Chiba - Japan. :) Oh, and does my American imitation not look convincing or something? lol

Izumi 05-01-2010 11:43 AM

Oh that is so cool, Usuke! I am jealous!! I spent a couple of years in high school and one semester in college studying Japanese and I found it to be such a beautiful language. I only got to spend two weeks traveling around Japan but I enjoyed it so much I would jump at the chance to do it again!!

Your English sounds so fluent I mistook you for being American! Did you spend time overseas or do you go to an English speaking school? I know that Japanese students are required to take English in high school, HOWEVER I have been told by exchange students it isn't geared toward conversational English...more like really formal, letter writing and just not really useful day to day.

McNugget 05-01-2010 11:51 AM

I have spent some time overseas when I was younger. But most of the English I learned was from my father ( who spent half his life in America) and from school. I have been to private schools my whole life, and they teach english a bit more strictly than in public schools. Most of my fluency though is from using a translator, so I'm cheating :XD. If you were to hear me actually speak English, you would know the difference. lol Oh, I almost forgot - Students may learn english as early as grammar school, it is not just for the older students.

Izumi 05-01-2010 12:25 PM

Ahhh! So the truth comes out! ;)

Nah, really I think you're doing an awesome job following the conversation. I've tried to google Japanese websites and while I can pick out little words I struggle translating.

I'm really into collecting Tamagotchi and am always looking for new releases, especially now that the iD has those downloadable files. You have to live in Japan to be able to download them, so usually the small community of fans waits for someone in Japan to send them to us. :o

McNugget 05-01-2010 01:20 PM

So, are you asking me if I know anything about the files?

Izumi 05-01-2010 01:52 PM

Nah that's cool if you're not into tamagotchi. I think that you would have to pay to download them via cellphone, and I couldn't ask someone to do that explicitly for me. I wish I could find someone who spoke good English like yourself and had an interest in it so they could join the tamagotchi community and help expand our library, though. So if you know someone who DOES fit the criteria, let me know! :)

Kefka is epic.
His laugh is my MSN sign in sound.
FFVI is easily my favorite. With IX shortly behind.

Welcome to the forums, hope you have a good stay.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I've seen you around a lot Usuke but this is the first time I've heard any thing about you =O
