Name: Aster Helter
Gender: Male Age: Twenty-Two Picture: http://www.menewsha.com/forum/member...cture36391.jpg |
Aislinn swam away from her father's house under the sea. Another argument with him was too much for her little head. She kept swimming until she was near human land, the place where she was forbidden to come to. She shook her head. 'Who cares what my father thinks?' Ais thought.
((Sorry if it's too short)) |
((It's okay!))
Aster had never been too fond of the ocean. He hadn't been out fishing in years, after the waters swept his beloved pet doberman Agnew away from. Agnew had been his companion ever since he was small...and he'd been out on the boat many times...until a surprise storm had swept him off deck, and Aster had been unable to save him. Aster shook away the memories, still shaken by the loss. He adjusted the large old fishing net he had hanging over the side of the boat, idly. At least he'd get some money for these fish, once he sold them off...something had to be positive about this trip. |
Aislinn wasn't knowing where she was going and somehow got herself tangled up in some net. "No!" She was frantic. Her mother was stolen away by a net like this and it frightened her. She thrashed, which only made herself tangled up worse.
Ice whimpered; this wasn't going the way she liked it to be. |
Immediately, Aster saw the net start to pull...something was thrashing below the waves. If it was large enough to shake the boat like this...
He immediately started to pull the net up, attempting to be gentle. If it was a shark, sea lion, sea turtle...he was determined on letting it go. He was only after small game fish. |
Aislinn then gave up. What was the point in tangling herself more if she knew that she couldn't save herself? If only she said better words to her father. If only she was less stubborn. If only hr temper didn't take her this far. Ice was too engrossed in the 'if only''s that she didn't notice the fisherman hauling her up.
|
Aster finally got to the end of the net and pulled it up slightly. He froze, staring at what had been caught in his net. He promptly, slowly, pulled the creature up onto the deck of his ship, his senses mostly failing him.
He was a stalwart skeptic when it came to anything supernatural, and unless she said something or tried to struggle...he would believe he was hallucinating, or he might pass out due to shock. |
"Oh my." Aislinn's eyes were open wide when she saw the fisherman. She was speechless. She was never this close to a human before. Ice gripped the net hard. "Will you please let me go?" She kindly asked.
|
Aster stared for a moment more. He opened and closed his mouth a few times, attempting to say something and then chickening out.
"...I'm afraid it would be a bad idea to put you back in the water at the moment," he offered, tonelessly. "That net...it's designed to kill fish as it captures them. You're bleeding." He pointed at everywhere on her, except for her head, just above her neck. Blood was beginning to seep out onto the deck. He then came to his senses. He shot up and dug around in his toolbox on deck, getting wire cutters. He started to snap off the fishing line, hoping he would be able to save her before she bled to death. |
Aislinn never noticed the she was bleeding. She stayed still since she didn't want to bleed herself to death. Ice's eyes followed the unusual contraption that the human was bringing out of the box. She flinched away, pricking herself a bit from the sharp bits from the net.
|
Once Aster had all of the net off of her, he lifted his arms under her and hoisted her up. He quickly brought her below deck, to the spare bedroom. He laid her down in the bed, not caring if it got soiled. Once Aster was sure she wouldn't fall off the bed, he strode off to the room's bathroom and dug in the medicine cabinet for gauze. He located it, and headed out to her. He noticed that while her tail was cut up, it wasn't bleeding. Only her arms, neck, and torso were bleeding.
He unfurled some of the gauze and started to wrap it around her arms, torso, and neck, gingerly. He tried to wrap it on semi-thick, so that she wouldn't bleed through them. |
Aislinn was shocked to find him carrying her so boldly. Her blood was dripping off to the floor and she was slowly losing her consciousness. When he bandaged her gingerly, she noticed that her tail wasn't bleeding. "Thank you for doing this to me." Ice muttered.
|
"I'm sorry. And, you're welcome." Aster finished bandaging her, noting with relief that the bleeding seemed to stop. "You can't really blame me...I had no idea your kind even existed, so I thought I would only be catching fish...I'm sorry for harming you. I can't very well put you back into the water with those wounds--you would bleed to death. So, please...rest a bit, until you're better."
He paused, standing up. "Would you like something to eat? What...do you eat?" |
"I understand. Our elders are very strict about us showing up on land. I probably might be in big trouble just by talking to you right now." Aislinn smiled a bit and added, "What do you humans eat anyway? And since I'm going to be here for a while, I'm Aislinn. It sounds like 'Iceland'. And you are?"
|
"I'll vouch for you, if someone comes looking for you," he assured her, nodding. "My name is Aster. We eat...well, we eat fish...a few land animals, other than ourselves...and plants. I was planning on making myself some Italian food. If you aren't up for trying something new, I could always get you something that you would normally eat..."
|
"Nice to meet you, Aster. Seaweed would make me feel better, but I'm willing to try your kind of food." Aislinn smiled. She then looked at herself and frowned at seeing the bandages. "We don't use these kind of things under water. Seaweed was our number one healing plant."
|
"Those help to stop the bleeding, quickly and securely," Aster explained. "They're thick, so they won't break easily or let blood out. I'm afraid I don't have any seaweed...but I can make dinner for us, if you're willing to try my food. I'll have to go to the kitchen to cook...you can make yourself at home and rest, if you'd like..."
He headed out to the boat's kitchen, getting started on his dinner. He loved Italian food. |
"Okay." Aislinn looked over at his figure as he walked away. 'How am I going to explore if I can't walk with my tail?' She thought, looking around to find a way to somehow 'walk' or that was what humans called it. Ice hated feeling useless and she felt like it right now, just laying there.
|
After nearly finishing, Aster popped in to check on her. He saw she seemed restless and bored. "Ah...here." He held out the television remote, for the good-sized television in the room. He explained briefly what a television was and showed her how to use the remote, in a basic way. "That should keep you occupied for a while...I'm almost done."
He headed back out into the kitchen to finish making the meal. |
Aislinn was hugely interested in a magic box with moving pictures which Aster called it a television. She pressed buttons, first looking at a bad sitcom, then looking at a sad drama, and later seeing a movie which was about her kind. She was shocked to see that some of it was closely factual in her world.
|
After a few more minutes, Aster returned with two plates of well-made stuffed shells, on trays. He set one tray up in front of her and held up the silverware. "If you don't know how to use these...you do this with them. This is too messy to eaten with your hands, or with just your mouth."
He demonstrated the proper use of his fork by eating a few of his shells. |
"Okay." Aislinn sat up and tried to do what he did with the fork. Before she did that, she examined the fork closely and remembered the movie she saw previously. 'It was used to handle food, not hair.' Ice thought. She tried to imitate him and made little progress. But at least she knew what to use it for. Ice laughed at herself whenever she did it incorrectly or whenever it felt funny to be using such human things.
|
Aster ate his food without a hitch. He was glad she was making a tiny amount of progress, if she was going to be on land for a while longer.
"So...do you want to talk about anything?" he asked, lamely. "Since it will be a while before your wounds heal, no thanks to me, we should at least be on good terms." |
