Aryah: Sorry. I'm gonna blame it on working two days in a row after a ten hour trip by car plus lack of sleep for several days. I normally wouldn't have done anything that would cause one to think of "Twilight."
I'd like to burn/ban the books personally.

Aryah_Jade 06-05-2010 01:01 AM

@Bryher: Ahh, okies. I forgive you then. Sadly, I mistakenly watched the first movie in theaters, without even realizing what it was! :gonk: :headdesk: *hadn't even heard of the books before that*

Omnomnom 06-05-2010 01:02 AM

Ibuprofen is a lifesaver.

I know, Aryah, you would think something that looks so yummy and fun would tase equally as yummy and fun.

Anyone have a spare bed? This place is beginning to drive me insane. >.>

The Wandering Poet 06-05-2010 01:02 AM

Wouldn't a vamp that sparkled die upon existence? Cause... yknow they hate light and all?

Omnomnom 06-05-2010 01:03 AM

Awmigawd, sorry this thing just updated, rofl.

We totally had a Twilight bashing session earlier, too XD

Emasaurus 06-05-2010 01:03 AM

Glitter. The AIDS of arts & crafts. o 3o

Aryah_Jade 06-05-2010 01:03 AM

@Nom: Sorry, just a sleeping bag...

@Poet:  Oh, that's good! Ahhh.

Sadly, my job requires that I drive during the day, for safety reasons... :(

Bryher 06-05-2010 01:03 AM

Aryah: As someone who's actually read all of them, the movie was better (this is coming from another writer/author's perspective, and someone who will be graduating college soon).

Poet: Yeah, but Stephanie Meyer intentionally disregarded every canon notion about vampires and went by her own rules. She broke a VERY big author rule by not doing her research.

Star Valo 06-05-2010 01:03 AM

Just quickly =3
as I was about to go to bed
I saw the spider
on the ceiling
Went and got mum
She came and got it for me
Now I'm a little happier that it's gone
though I'll probably still sleep with my light on

Lixlaria 06-05-2010 01:04 AM

Glad the spider is gone for you Star. Sleep well!

Omnomnom 06-05-2010 01:04 AM

Yay! Sleep well, Star :)

The sleeping bag will work fine, Aryah :P *gathers blanket, toothbrush, and stuffed Charmander*

[N]ightmare 06-05-2010 01:04 AM

Pleasant dreams Star.

Star Valo 06-05-2010 01:05 AM

Thank you
goodnight =3

Sumerian Manic 06-05-2010 01:05 AM

Good for you Star!

@Aryah_Jade But what if they need it for their crafts projects?

Aryah_Jade 06-05-2010 01:06 AM

Oh, good for you, Star! *imagines the squishy spider death*

@Bryher: Ahh, well that's a small relief, then. Apart from the movie still being grossly over-rated and terribly filled with teen / tween drama  Vampire Diaries is better, in my opinion. (or whatever that show is... can't remember the name)

@Sumerian: Then I guess they'd better keep those projects hidden far away from any stray beams of sunlight.

The Wandering Poet 06-05-2010 01:07 AM

Aww I missed a twilight bashing session? :( pity...

Bryher 06-05-2010 01:07 AM

Poet: We can have one now!

AND GO!

Omnomnom 06-05-2010 01:08 AM

I came at the tail end of it.

Woohoo! Her writing is atrocious. While entertaining, a five-year-old could write that with no problem. And her novel SUCKED. I tried reading it twice, never made it past the first few chapters. I thought I was going to have to gouge my eyes out.

It was a pity that the movie version of Eragon wasn't all that great. The book was AMAZING. I love how Christopher Paolini writes.

The Wandering Poet 06-05-2010 01:09 AM

 I guess it doesn't help that I'm already bias... I'm a J.R.R. Tolkien fan

Bryher 06-05-2010 01:10 AM

Om: I dunno how I made it through all four books. You're right. No current 17 year old writes like that. That's probably one of my biggest issues with authors: trying to write from the perspective of someone much younger than them and NOT pulling it off whatsoever.

The Wandering Poet 06-05-2010 01:11 AM

Well personally I've noticed "sex appeal to girls who like shirtless guys" is really all it has... plus some people like the idea of being bit on the neck anyways... which is spawned from what vampires do...

Omnomnom 06-05-2010 01:12 AM

Aye. And it's such a mushy love story. I hate love stories. *is baised*

At times, she makes Bella seem too old, too. She tells the story in such a "proper manner" for a 17-year-old girl.

[N]ightmare 06-05-2010 01:12 AM

I am a JRR Tolkien and RA Salvatore fan myself.
Comparing the writings of New Moon to, even the most dry book ever, The Salmarillion is unfair. I'd rather read The Salmarillion. At least I want to gouge my eyes out because of the history involved in that book and not the atrocities to literature that whatever her name has made.

Same can be said of the Harry Potter books, but at least there is an attempt at a decent plot line and entertainment value behind those books. -hates Twilight so much-

Sumerian Manic 06-05-2010 01:12 AM

Wonderful. Now let's talk about actual vampires. Dangerous ones. Angel and Spike anyone?

No seriously, we need a subject change or I'm setting the thread on fire. *smiles sweetly*

Bryher 06-05-2010 01:12 AM

I think the thing I hate the most is that it promotes the Bella/Edward relationship being what is desirable. That scares me that we're teaching an entire generation of teens that, because it's very much not a healthy relationship.
