@Hitsu: I'm like that with earphones. Most sets don't last more than a month or two. I'm always surprised that my most recent set (came with my husband's iPhone) are still actually working, despite the cat-chewed cords and the constant battering I give them.

@For-chan: I've never used self-rising flour. And a stand mixer is WONDERFUL. Costco has them for cheap sometimes, but Amazon is also good.

@Ole - But that's the thing, it's all floating at random throughout your flour. Even if you measured it out and made your own self-rising, there's no guarantee that you have enough leavening in your flour to actually make things rise. Besides, I hate it when people use self-rising instead of all purpose and you get salty cookies from hell and such. Blargh.

@Scholar - Amazon had a wonderful deal at Christmas and I thought we would get one, my mom was looking at it and then she flaked out. As she always does. I was so sad. But if I save up for my own, then it is just mine and goes with me when I leave.

@Ole - Well, since your recipe calls for self-rising, that's fine, but most recipes don't.
