It's not snobbish. It's just for people who want to write with other good writers. It's a serious pain when you write someone like a 2-3 page long beautiful post filled with details and plot development, and they give you some like 3 sentenced crappy response back with no grammar and spelling check.

Also, it's great when you write with people who pay attention to plot and maintain the same writing standard.
