You mean, you really look forward to it and then the art don't live up to your expectations? I've had that feeling before.

Kent 05-30-2010 07:40 PM

@Liztress - Aws, I like washing clothes~ X3 lol & You're welcome~ XD

@Hadsie - Hmm, I guess that's okay~ ; 3;

Liztress 05-30-2010 07:41 PM

I only hate the part of filling the washer up with the water since the hoses are messed up on it.

Kent 05-30-2010 07:43 PM

Oh~ X3 Sounds like you need to get a new washer. XD Or get that one fixed. X3

We just got a new dryer and washer and they're awesome~ <3

Liztress 05-30-2010 07:43 PM

We do need one. But money's a bit tight here. So we make due with what we got.

Hadsvich 05-30-2010 07:45 PM

@Liztress: That's part of it, yeah. ; x;
But lately it's more like I wish I could get art from this person very much cuz I like their art but they don't care and want to price it high anyway.
& They don't like to put much effort into their art so it makes me even more disappointed.
I might just be assuming things though. x'3

Lejic 05-30-2010 07:46 PM

Hey Hads, hey Kent! <3 How are you guys?

Liztress 05-30-2010 07:47 PM

So, they're being a tad greedy? Bummer... There's a few people I want art from but their prices are out of my league. Or they left Mene. :/

Lejic 05-30-2010 07:50 PM

Ah, art talk. Well, currently there's basically one person I want art from on mene (the most), and their auction is way over 900k at this point. They do deserve it, totally, but I just can't afford that. And I feel guilty because I have artist friends who would draw for me who're as amazing as she is, but it's just so tempting to buy art. xD You think "they're just pixels!" but then you remember how hard it was to earn them, so yeah. P:

If I ever quit mene (and it doesn't seem likely), I might blow some gold on art though!

Kent 05-30-2010 07:51 PM

@Liztress - Oh. I hope you'll be able to get a new one eventually~

@Lejic - Hey there! :D I'm doing fine~ You? :3

Liztress 05-30-2010 07:52 PM

I appreciate every artists' work because I know how hard most of them work to make something. But the ones who charge out the rear for something that is lacking irk me.

Hadsvich 05-30-2010 07:53 PM

@Lejic: I'm doing okay. x'3
I'm really craving art lately. x'3

Yeah, I know who you're talking about it. x'3
To be honest, I don't think they deserve it. o xo;

@Liztress: Yeah, that's how it feels. ; 3;
Though they don't even seem to care to have pixels/ virtual currency.
So it doesn't make sense to me.

Lejic 05-30-2010 07:56 PM

Darn, I can't stay long because boo I have an exam tomorrow morning (it's 11pm here) BUT I'll draw you a freebie tomorrow when I get home hon. <3
What do you want it of? :3

Liztress 05-30-2010 07:56 PM

I know. Makes no sense to me either. I could understand if they take a portion of the price of their work and donate to random members or one of the charities. That would be very generous of them.

Hadsvich 05-30-2010 08:00 PM

@Lejic: Really? ; w; Thanks so much. <3
I'd really like some art of my current avi or any of my OCs from this thread.
; w;
I hope it's not too much trouble to make you pick.

Good luck with your exam~ :'3 <3

@Liztress: Oh yes, if that was how it worked, I would definitely understand that too.
:O

Lejic 05-30-2010 08:01 PM

I think pricing is very odd with art. Sometimes it's about just how much people desire their work; the artist keeps the price high because they can, and it seems to make sense since it's tough to decide what's a "right" price. I remember on Gaia artists would charge by the hour sometimes - and they would calculate the minimum wage for the hours spent, and figure out the price through the "donation item" prices. @[email protected]; Seemed excessive to me, but what I mean is that it's really hard to price art. You can't say the person who does that is wrong but you can't say that they're right either, for example.
And then there are "good PR artists" as I call them. They have insane prices and people who pay those prices. There was a girl on Gaia who, no offense, was not very great and she would get paid with the oldest donation items for a single full-body and her slots would fill up fast by her friends and "fan"s. But the second those had had their piece, the remaining slots were never sold to someone who had just met her or who hadn't heard of her before.

Anywhooo;

@Hads: Of course hon! <3
I'll totally draw you something. 8D And it's no problem to pick; I almost prefer it that way. I can look at a thread and go "oh yes, that one." That's why I like huge art request threads so much; I can just pick whatever inspires me at the moment!

Hadsvich 05-30-2010 08:07 PM

Yes, it is. ; x;
I always have standards & such that make me picky.
& I usually don't buy from an artist who I don't think works hard on their art.
Depending on how much they sell their art, that is.

I get the feeling I know who you're talking about.
x'D
At least, I know an artist like that on Gaia. x'3

Oh really
? > w< I'm glad you feel that way~
Most artists I know hate going through a long list of characters. x'3
Thanks again~ <33

Lejic 05-30-2010 08:17 PM

I can't blame most artists for pricing; because the fact of a matter is, I believe in capitalism. And I mean, sometimes effort doesn't mean much. I know a few friends of mine who "doodle" such amazing stuff it's silly. I myself spend between 15 and 60 minutes on the sketches for example; but I find that even if I spend more time I don't get better results. But with lineart, I get better results if I spend more time on it. It just depends on the way the artist works.
So it's tough to 'blame' them. I understand that every person draws differently and, most importantly, people view them differently. I have a friend who's very popular on deviantart and oekaki websites and she had an auction at Gaia which went for basically nothing, and I was so surprised!
You never know which art will sell for how much. People sometimes pay thousands for a 5 minute doodle, and sometimes they won't even touch a full CG for 5k.
*shrug*

And well, if you play Gaia, you might. I totally forgot her name there, but she was on Ragnarok Online too, so I got to deal with the same joy over there. She was known as Nox there, no idea what her RO name was.

Aaand last but not least;
I don't mind at all, really. I've been giving out freebies around anyhow, would love to draw one for an old friend. :3 :heart:

Now, sleepy time!
<3 <3

Hadsvich 05-30-2010 08:21 PM

Yeah, wow, that really is odd. ; x;

That name does sound familiar. Though I haven't been around on Gaia in such a long time. x'3

Good night. :'3 <3

Liztress 05-30-2010 09:05 PM

I am back... Had a slight scare with my oldest son licking some deodorant. -.-

Itsuna 05-30-2010 09:08 PM

Ew. o 3o;
How old is he?

By the way, how are you doing with my art, Kent!?
>D
x'DD

Liztress 05-30-2010 09:11 PM

He's 5. And I told him that was nasty. But he said it smelled nice. -.- Had to call poison control just to make sure he would be fine. Apparently, licking deodorant doesn't help your breath. Just irritates your mouth.

Itsuna 05-30-2010 09:15 PM

lol I guess I would lick something too if it smelled nice. x'3

Kent 05-30-2010 09:23 PM

@Liztress - Welcome back~

Oh. o 3o I've tasted deodorant before by accident. It's nasty. XP

@Itsuna - Ah! I'm sorry! I'm busy modding right now! I promise I'll start it after dinner! ; A;

Itsuna 05-30-2010 09:30 PM

You better. >3
