could be, but there is alot of lore concerning the full moon with energy and supernatural activity (especially among witches and magickians).
the reason for that, is that much of it is true. I have found that you can "draw in" energy from a number of different sources through the bodies energy centers (aka chakras) and one of the sources that can give off a large amount of energy at one time is the moon.

Youn 05-28-2010 08:31 AM

Indeed, I'm not very familliar with the subject but energy is not to be ignored. :3
The moon's gravity has a lot of impact on the earth as well, right?
I heard life on earth (at least as we know it) is dependant on the moon's gravity effect on the earth? I can't vouch for the vaildity of the claim but it does make sense to me.
Tides, for example has a huge impact on the eco system.

mathwl1020 05-28-2010 08:37 AM

well, the gravity of the moon has a great effect on tides, and tides have a great effect on the eco system, as well as earth's climate. One of my theories on global warming is actually very reliant on the moon (such as if the moon got too far away from the earth, then the tides would stop, and the currents would cease to be, and the climate of earth would change utterly, and cause another ice age. but that's just one possibility)

Youn 05-28-2010 08:42 AM

Ugh, ice age. *Shivers*
The evalation of land from the last one is still ongoing at our summer cottage...

That does sound reasonable to me. They say that if it wasn't for the Gulf Stream, we'd have a climate as cold as, or perhaps even colder, than Alaska here in Sweden. Instead, it is said our climate is currently closer to New York?
Though I somewhat suspect the New York bit is more of a tourist guide propaganda than a scientifically valid statement. XD

mathwl1020 05-28-2010 08:54 AM

well, there is a problem with the gulf stream. the gulf stream is beginning to slow down, and if it does stop then there's going to be major climate problems world wide. This may be the begining of the next ice age.

Youn 05-28-2010 08:55 AM

I know, I'm very worried. D:
I wonder how long time it'd take for a new ice age to appear? A couple of hundred years?
Once it gets a growing ground, I suspect it'll go very fast from there.

mathwl1020 05-28-2010 09:04 AM

well, I have seen some evidence to support the idea that an ice age is going to be begining quite shortly (if it hasn't already) and it is enough to worry, but there's not much we could do about it. it also doesn't help that for the past 4 years I've had this feeling like something big was coming up, as if earth itself was pissed off at humanity, or that earth itself was dying. either way, it could be extremely bad for us. (when I say dying, I mean it in multiple senses of the word. I mean it in both the sense of seas becoming stagnant/frozen and vegetation decaying, as well as the idea of what "earth" is dying)

----------

well, on a much less morbid, and much happier note. I'm questing for every event item, both rare and common, and I'm about to go spend all the tickets I've gotten by helping with missions, as well as most, if not all, of my gold on commons, then I'm probably going to go to bed. talk to y'all later!

Youn 05-28-2010 09:18 AM

Like the tsunamis, earthquakes and Eyjafjallajökull? Oh yes, definitely.
Something is trying to kill us, we're just to stubborn not to.

Ooh, that sounds fun. Happy shopping!
Good night, see you later. ♥

Hello....anyone around?

mathwl1020 05-28-2010 10:32 AM

hi, I'm back. I have both good and bad news.
Bad news: I can't sleep, despite being tired, and strange things are going on around here
good news: strange things are going on around here, and I just saved 15% by changing my insurance to geiko. jk, lol
remember those old commercials, they were funny as hell.

Seika 05-28-2010 10:34 AM

Anyone here?

Sumerian Manic 05-28-2010 10:35 AM

I'm here. *waves*

Seika 05-28-2010 10:35 AM

Hello!

=D

mathwl1020 05-28-2010 10:35 AM

uh, what am I, chopped liver? jk, lol

Sumerian Manic 05-28-2010 10:37 AM

Oh Hullo Math! I didn't know you were still here.

And Hullo Seika ^_^

mathwl1020 05-28-2010 10:39 AM

well, I kinda came back. I tried to sleep but couldn't, and then I started hearing strange things, and the chain I had moved by itself, so I got up and got back on here. I'm probably not gonna sleep for another hour now.

----------

btw, I love that movie, repo.

Sumerian Manic 05-28-2010 10:47 AM

That sort of thing is why I never TRY to sleep. It either takes me or I don't go.

Ling 05-28-2010 10:49 AM

Hello!!~ There's people in here...yay.

mathwl1020 05-28-2010 10:49 AM

yeah, well when I try to sleep on the night of a full moon, something strange happens and I am unable to allow sleep to take me. oh well, that happens.

Sumerian Manic 05-28-2010 10:51 AM

Hullo Ling.

@mathwyl1020

...

I never pay attention to full moons. Only whether or not it's witching hour.

Ling 05-28-2010 10:54 AM

I usually look out for a full moon in the middle of the month, because that's apparently when it's meant to be at it's fullest. But then again, that's according to the Lunar calendar.

mathwl1020 05-28-2010 10:58 AM

well, I tend to keep track of full moons, but not always intentionally. the reason being is that I do alot of things that take "energy" (psychic abilities and other things) and one of the sources I use to increase my energy is the moon. Its to the point where I don't always notice that I'm doing it (taking energy from the moon, that is) and I then get a large amount of energy for 3 days before the full moon, the night of the full moon, and 3 days afterwards. also, strange things start to happen in the area I live in during that time (although, that's probably due to the large number of spirits and entities in the neighborhood. we have tons of them)

----------

btw, what exactly is the witching hour?

Ling 05-28-2010 11:01 AM

Wouldn't have a clue, didn't know there was such a thing as a witching hour.

Sumerian Manic 05-28-2010 11:01 AM

I pay more attention to numbers and days. Fridays, the 13th, and 3am get my attention.

Seika 05-28-2010 11:03 AM

Oops! Got a little distracted. The new One Piece manga chapter is out. <3
