Glows green? -big delighted eyes- Like.. NEON?

Dream_and_Die 06-03-2010 09:03 PM

Our basements really hot... I don't know why...
We have to keep the door shut so it doesn't heat the rest of the house.

Sovie Kays 06-03-2010 09:04 PM

Why don't you have a basement? I thought all houses had to have a basement.. oh. Apartment?

Really? your basement is hotter than your house? Mine is by default a good few degrees colder than the rest of my house.

Cooking dinner now. Otto is still napping. Going to have to wake him or I'll be up till 2 in the blessed morning again.

Basement rooms always make me think that gives people a little more independence.

GrannyJ 06-03-2010 09:04 PM

Not exactly neon, but a soft green glow.

Chikuma 06-03-2010 09:04 PM

We have a crawl space under the house but not a basement

In Austin, we have no basements.

Dream_and_Die 06-03-2010 09:06 PM

Not all houses have basements. leenie's house in Texas doesn't have one and neither does my neighbors. I thinks it's building preference.

Granny, really? I thought Y'all would be elevated enough for them. I know there are some pretty high spots in Austin and no I'm not talking about certain places around town. >.o

Chikuma 06-03-2010 09:08 PM

In Bethel Alaska the houses don't have basements because they are built on stilts. The ground tends to shift and the stilts can be lowered or raised as needed.

GrannyJ 06-03-2010 09:11 PM

We do not have basements because of the limestone.
You would have to dynamite to be able to dig a basement, and that would be very expensive, I'm afraid.

Most of the houses are on a cement pad.

Those that are on hillsides may have walkout basements, but that would be because of the hill.

Kings Anointed 06-03-2010 09:11 PM

Oooh I see I see.

This is all kinda cool actually. XP

Sovie Kays 06-03-2010 09:12 PM

Hmm. Makes sense. I'd never ever conceived of a house without a basement before, though.

GrannyJ 06-03-2010 09:12 PM

There are some very nice caves around the Austin area, I have heard.

Chikuma 06-03-2010 09:13 PM

Man now I am having the urge to go snuggle on the sofa with a book. See ya all laters.

SinfulGaze 06-03-2010 09:13 PM
