True, but molds are molds, you can't be creative with the mold. You can only work the peice after its in the mold, and then the general shape is already set.
Unless your doing something like a stature, but even then handcrafting is fun. leenie: I did my teapot in soooo many pieces... Then cut pieces in half. xD |
I wish they would give us a teapot that we could use with our avies.
|
oooooh, teapot. so many people would turn it into an alice in wonderland reference, though. :c
SO GUYS. i'm going to power hour on my mule. for gasket. i'll throw everything i can in there, but while i'm there i won't be talking here. (separate browser) so see you in a few~ c: |

Thank you, Leenie!

I remember I made this really nice clay sculpture in school and then I found out someone knocked it off and smashed it while it was on the drying rack.
|
Oh no, Claudia.
You must have been very upset! |

Some stupid inter loaded wet clay in to the gas. idiot. So much wasted work. |
Yep!, that's why I still remember. I had another clay sculpture in school that exploded in the kilm due to bubbles. It was a donkey and a food dish. The food dish made it.
|
There is so much I do not understand about working clay.
I tried one time to make some little Texas pins that I painted bluebonnets on. It used the regular hobby clay that comes in so many colors, and I followed the directions on baking it, but the clay never turned out right. It didn't seem to harden as it was supposed to. |
I found some sculpy clay in a thrift store, I 'll be doing something with that.
|
I believe that is what it was. Sculpy Clay.
|
I love sculpy! Though going back to it now is hard because there's no sliping and scoring. xD
|
I love that molding clay you can bake in the ovens! The colors are so nice and bright. It's much easier to work with than real clay but it also limits you to making things very small.
@ Granny: There's a lot of chemistry and stuff in clay, it takes a while to learn all the ins and outs of it. >.< I'd suggest getting a book from the library about it if you're interested. ^_^ |
I would like to do that.
I thought though that just following the directions on the sculpy clay would work, but it didn't. |
Without a studio, I can only work very small. Mostly I focus on my drawing because when I get my studio, I will do sculpture mostly and not have time for drawing anymore. I only want to progress to the point of learning animation in that and someone here alraedy told me that's a not a promising field.
|
:remembers glazes: Ugh, it's chemistry all over again. We made some glazes and luckily mine was fun, ugly in colour but functional - some other kids were not so lucky. @[email protected]

They always make it look so easy in the books.
|
you're welcome, granny.
every time i went back to the action window, the hp was down again. XD sculpy clay is a little finicky. i always managed to get it to turn out okay, but someone i knew put it in a toaster oven and burnt it. |
I burnt it once. My grandfather distracted me and I forgot to check it and it bubbled. xD
|
I'm glad to know that I am not the ony one who has had trouble with it.
|
Meh... Only 5 minutes left of power hour. T_T
|
I better start power hour soon. Unload more spanners and gears.
|
*peers in and waves* Hello, again, everyone =O Haven't been by in a few days. Mene was giving me a bunch of problems for a bit there, though I suspect it may have been similar for other folks, too.
