*facepalms* did you hear about the new movement that's getting people to quit facebook? Apparently a few thousand people already quit and it's been so popular to quit that it's even on the news ._.

I wouldn't mind a "like" button, but the comments right during the games was pretty distracting because it would load right when you're playing it....if only it was elsewhere.....

Sorry about that, I was testing out a few things at the time which more than likely put the comments box above the game. That should be fixed now, but if you prefer I left this comment:

Sorry guys, we're testing a few things out right now. If you want to disable these facebook widgets you can do so by going to "My Account > Edit Your Details > Show facebook social widgets" and toggling it on or off. Hope that helps :)
Oh, and regarding people quitting facebook... YESSSSSS :D

Lornabee 06-01-2010 01:23 AM

I personally wouldn't use it, but I have no objection to anything like that if it isn't too obtrusive.

LaVida 06-01-2010 01:28 AM

Insomniac>> yay! you can toggle it! <3 Thankies <3

and if you're adding facebook, a stumbleupon button would be nice too :3 espcially on the games because I sometimes use that when I'm feeling random and I know a few friends that use it all the time XD

Xxbl00dyxangelxX 06-01-2010 01:33 AM

I like it, with or without gold incentive it's an excellent idea!

Just so we're clear, a Facebook account would not be required in order to sign in to Menewsha, correct?

LaVida 06-01-2010 02:07 AM

maybe make it so that people without Facebook accounts can post as well? :d

Cora 06-01-2010 02:11 AM

o.0 0.o

we where like JUST discussing this somewhere....I can not recall where though. Intriguing. I think its a nice idea.

Chi 06-01-2010 02:17 AM

I'm definitely not opposed to such a feature. I think it's great advertising!

Me personally? I wouldn't use it. I'm a butthead who tends to block most game applications and also ignores "oh hey, look at me! look at this!" things. I only link to other websites or articles on rare occasion. That's just my personal preference though, and my global opinion of it is that it's a great way to advertise and offering an incentive for users to do it is an even bigger plus. :)

Snowberry 06-01-2010 02:59 AM

I agree with Chi.

I just saw the the option to disable fb crap in a previous post and I will be sure to use it. :)

We did have a stumbleupon button a while back, but it was either not used much or it wasn't tracked enough to know if it was being effective. Perhaps I'll look into some social bookmarking buttons some time.

Nope, never.

It surprised me at first, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to click it. I might actually start to "like" something that I truly do like. Everyone gets to see if, and I'm unsure if I want everyone seeing that I like some silly thread. >_<

Lilith W 06-01-2010 03:55 PM

I really don't like the idea of connecting this site to a site full of spammers.
And I don't like the facebook stuff added to the games. It moves the page around messing up the game. And I really just don't care what people have to say about the games.

And just being able to click on one thing and get gold reminds me of Gaia and I would hate to see this site go down that path.

BellyButton 06-01-2010 05:07 PM

I am one of those people who like to keep a separation between my Facebook and Menewsha lives (though Daria snuck into my fortress already :illgetu:), BUT that doesn't mean that other people shouldn't be able to use the feature if they want to.

I'll admit it does creep me out a little that folks might inadvertently share my crazy Mene ramblings, but it's not like they couldn't already be read or linked to.

Edit: One more thing ~

Yup, they can, they just can't respond. I might have to look into giving non-logged in users a way to respond using their facebook account though.

This part worries me. Will they be able to acquire infractions/be banned if they post craptalk in people's threads, as is common on facebook comments? Just an example, someone "likes" a Twilight RP thread and happens to have friends who think twilight is teh suck, and shares it with all their school pals, and they all take turns posting moronic insults.. :gonk:

If I did that it would only be visible to guest users, so it really wouldn't concern the community. However if such a thing was visible to the community then there would be ways to moderate it.

LaVida 06-01-2010 07:53 PM

hmmm.....I was about to post this before my parents kicked me off the computer, but it would be better if people without facebook accounts could post the comments as well, no? and a comment system that does not require it to load while it is playing the game would still be nice :d

about the stumble upon button......the reason it's not getting hits is because you have to get people to rate/recommend/i-don't-know-what it first so that stumbleupon will actually stumble upon it because it works with a rating system or something because the more highly rated games/webpages/etc. get stumbled on more than those that are rated less......and those that are not rated/voted on/something, will be lucky to even get one hit >.>

sorry if my grammer ish badd........I'm super-tired....yet don't wanna sleep....yet I wanna sleep....my brain's just muddled right now.....

stephstar101 06-01-2010 09:33 PM

I personally don't think it's bad. I love Menewsha and Facebook, so yeah, this would be a good idea.

LaVida 06-02-2010 12:29 AM

lol, just read on the news that "Quit Facebook Day" has totally failed XD mostly because the "delete account" button is hidden and only the "deactivate" button is easily found XD

Popcorn Gun 06-02-2010 03:34 AM

I think that's sort of cool.
The only thing is I might not want it advertised all over face book.
I was wondering why it was like that under there(facebook related) when I was playing snake.

zazabar 06-02-2010 03:25 PM

I don't mind the facebook stuff, as long as it can be toggled off.

The Wandering Poet 06-02-2010 07:24 PM

Gold incentive: NO, because it's basically making it a facebook ad... and for those of us who don't have/use facebook it is unfair...

I think having it there is fine though I will never use it, but having it give gold is unfair to those of us who don't want to use facebook, as personally I log into mine maybe... once a month min...

So all in all I think I'll simplify my opinion to: I don't care if you have it, but don't add gold incentive.
