I noticed!

So when did the facebook things start showing up?

I'm not sure when they were implemented, but I just noticed them today.

(for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, you can apparently "like" threads via facebook; there's an option in the toolbar of the first post of a thread)

I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Will my Mene and Facebook accounts be linked if I opt in to this feature?

Can I see other people/users who like threads?

I'd like to keep my Mene account and my real-life stuff separated, so if users can see any info that identifies me with this feature, I probably won't use it :/

Insomniac 05-27-2010 03:53 AM

There is some chatter about it here http://www.menewsha.com/forum/phoeni...ke-button.html

Keyori 05-27-2010 03:55 AM

Thanks Inso.

I wouldn't have thought to look for a feedback thread in the event hangouts.

Insomniac 05-27-2010 04:07 AM

Understandably. I'm after some quick feedback before considering it as a permanent feature or not.

Sizzla 05-27-2010 04:04 PM

Just some quick feedback about linking Mene and Facebook accounts: PLEASE NO.

I don't want my online life mixed in with my real life. I haven't connected my Gaia account to Facebook, and I plan on keeping it that way.

I suppose if it's something others want, that's fine, but make sure it's an opt-in program (which I'm sure you would anyway). :yes:

I like being able to 'like' threads on here :) I think its a great tool to show others this place and get new members to join in on the fun mene has to offer :)

I feel exactly the same as you on this. As long as it's an opt-in progam, I have no problem with it.

I'm with Sizz and Liztress on this. XP
While I love Mene immensely, I'd rather not mix my online life with my real life. xDD;;
Real life is complicated as it is, and online life is one way I cope with it. Wouldn't want my real life drama to come to my online life, else I'll have drama 24/7. XP <3<3

Allowing us to choose to use it or not though would be fine. :'D <3<3

Unless I missed something earlier in the topic, I'm confused.

If you don't "mix" your online life and your real life, then you wouldn't have mene people on your FB list anyways, which means they couldn't clutter up your FB with 'liked' threads to begin with. QED, I fail to see the problem.

Yeah but wouldn't the people on your facebook see you "like" such n such thread therefore introducing your real life to Mene?

Saisei 06-01-2010 01:52 PM

But if "you" don't want to mix your mene and RL, why would you "like" a thread via your facebook anyways?

Jeanie 06-01-2010 01:56 PM

I wouldn't, unless I missed the button I was trying to click and did it by accident. I never really got the whole like thing on facebook anyway.

Saisei 06-01-2010 02:07 PM

The fact that it's only on the first post of a thread, and in the corner, would minimize accidental click-through. Thankfully, if you did like it accidentally, it's a quick delete away from being off your wall.

I guess my point is that the onus would be on the "people who don't want to mix" to simply not click. It's not like having the feature forces people to use it.

Jeanie 06-01-2010 02:15 PM

I actually don't notice it that often when I'm just reading. It's only if I look for it or go for the buttons I notice.

Rylynne 06-01-2010 10:50 PM

Admittedly, I don't have any Mene friends yet added on FB. Not really because I don't like to or want to or anything, but no one has seriously pursued the thought on here with me to add each other up on FB. xDD;;

Having friends from Mene on FB, whether or not they post about Mene or not, is still different though from if you yourself post about Mene and all. =) <3<3

And I know it's an optional thing. I'm just saying I don't like it, and would prefer to keep it as something we can or cannot choose to do. Simple as that. =) I'd rather not get into the personal reasons why, so I just left it at the "not mixing Mene life with RL life" because it would complicate my current life considerably. xDD;;

Also, I was under the impression that this could possibly change from an optional thing into an automatic thing, along with possible other changes, judging from some of the posts I've read on here and in the other thread back at the event forum. Hence my reply, saying I'd rather keep it a choice. :'> <3<3

Angelic.Demon 06-02-2010 01:42 AM

I agree with Sizzla, I prefer to keep my online life and real life things separate,.I dont want people on Mene knowing who i really am, So if we do get this feature I'd also like it to be an opt-in feature :]

CK 06-02-2010 03:42 AM

I'm not sure how it could be an 'automatic' thing? ::confused:: Are you envisioning something that would auto-click "like" on any thread you visited? That wouldn't make any sense and isn't what would happen. xD If you didn't want to "like" a thread, you wouldn't be forced to.

This.

Hence why I don't understand the "oh no keep it optional" attitude I've been seeing.

Jeanie 06-02-2010 01:10 PM

Maybe there's a self control issue with "like" buttons. The urge to click it.

I don't really like the facebook comment thing under the games though.
