No yuri love in the yuri love chat :gonk:

PhoenixIllusion 05-29-2010 11:37 AM

Ikr?

QUICK! SOMEONE PULL A YURI MANGA NAME!

For-Chan Cookie 05-29-2010 11:38 AM

Kashimashi :D

PhoenixIllusion 05-29-2010 11:39 AM

...What?

Never read that.

Wassit about?

For-Chan Cookie 05-29-2010 11:43 AM

Oh? You never have. It's very cut. Although, it starts out a bit het-ish.

There's this boy, who is super girly. He has a crush on a girl, but she rejects him and when he goes off to cry about it. Then a space ship lands on him and KILLS him! D: But then the alien inside brings him back to life....only it can only bring him back to life as a girl.

Well, suddenly, the girl that rejected him really really likes him! But his best friend, also a girl, doesn't like that, because she really likes him, or her rather. So it's a love triangle and the aliens hang around to make things more complicated.

PhoenixIllusion 05-29-2010 11:46 AM

Huh. Sounds like that sorta yaoi thing where this race of female only aliens take over earth and take this guy's best friend and puts him in the body of a girl and try to make the guy-girl have sex with said best friend for some reason but it eventually turns out that the guy had actually been in love with his best friend for a while now.

Chibes 05-29-2010 11:48 AM

Gods I love Yuri <3 I'm curious how many straight girls do?

Angel Blade, Cardcaptors Sakura has hints of it, Utena obviously
those are my favourites

For-Chan Cookie 05-29-2010 11:49 AM

Never read/heard of that one.

But yeah, even though the boy starts out a boy, he's such a girl anyway, that it doesn't really make much of a difference that he's suddenly a she. She's more popular that way XD

Kashimashi means Girl meets Girl and there's also a twelve episode anime with an OVA. At least, I think it was twelve episodes. It was pretty short, but cute.

@Chibes - Do asexual girls count? XD

Chibes 05-29-2010 11:50 AM

My goodness For Chan Cookie! I remember that one. I watched the anime of it at my college's anime crew

PhoenixIllusion 05-29-2010 11:51 AM

Yaoi is getting so popular it's over shadowing yuri... >.>

Oh, Kampher!

Chibes 05-29-2010 11:51 AM

Lol But Tomoyo obviously loved Sakura more than just friends. But she was willing to put the girls happiness above her own

For-Chan Cookie 05-29-2010 11:51 AM

I watched it a few years ago. My friend sent me a bunch of anime on disks and I sat down and marathoned Cardcaptor Sakura and Kashimashi and Bottle Fairies and Pretear and a whole bunch of other fluffy shoujo. And some shouenen as well. I still have a lot of stuff I never watched.

@Phoenix - It's always been that way. Yaoi has always been more popular. The Yaoi Convention is always ridiculous but the Yuri convention only happens every now and then.

PhoenixIllusion 05-29-2010 11:55 AM

OMG, BOTTLE FAIRY. I DIED FROM THE CUTE.

Seriously. Gave me cavities.

Chibes 05-29-2010 11:55 AM

It has. I think because women spearhead the yaoi thing and maybe guys are lazy and don't want to do as much planning to run events?

Also I know man-man is more acceptable than woman-woman.

For-Chan Cookie 05-29-2010 11:57 AM

@Phoenix - I know! It was sooooo damn cute!

@Chibes - Well, a lot of yuri I see is by women, not men. Yuricon is run by mostly women. Romance is more of a female genre and both yaoi and yuri are romance, mostly. I think a lot of women feel uncomfortable thinking about yuri. I mean, I enjoy yuri and I like to RP, but I don't RP yuri much. I guess with a guy, for yaoi stuff, you can just make shit up XD With a female, you should know that stuff, kind of makes it more awkward *shrugs* Oh, obviously I'm talking smuttyness *is dirty*

PhoenixIllusion 05-29-2010 12:00 PM

Pffft, you'd be surprised how many women write yuri smut.

For-Chan Cookie 05-29-2010 12:00 PM

I'm not surprised at all. I'm surprised that people still think yuri is a men's genre.

PhoenixIllusion 05-29-2010 12:04 PM

With how fluffy Yuri is? Please.

For-Chan Cookie 05-29-2010 12:06 PM

Well, I can't comment too heavily on the state of things because I don't follow any yuri communities. I only read it occasionally.

PhoenixIllusion 05-29-2010 12:07 PM

Same here, but I like it well enough.

Shojo yuri is totally for girls, though. Things like Ikkitousen and battle club are definitely for dudes.

For-Chan Cookie 05-29-2010 12:08 PM

Anything with girls with big boobs fighting is definitely aimed more towards the guys. Not that there's anything wrong with big boobs, but big anime boobs bug the hell out of me. They look like giant deformed lemons hanging off chests.

Have you heard of/watched Air Master?

PhoenixIllusion 05-29-2010 12:14 PM

Saw it- Awesome parody of fighting games, if not very annoying because the plot jumped out at the last two episodes or so.

Mina annoys me greatly, though. And her boobs are like- WTH.

For-Chan Cookie 05-29-2010 12:15 PM

Exactly! Her boobs annoy the hell out of me! RAR! But, I like her and Maki together. I think they would be cute. Would help if Mina grew a spine.

PhoenixIllusion 05-29-2010 12:21 PM

And if she stopped screaming Maki all the time.

For-Chan Cookie 05-29-2010 12:22 PM

She can do that in bed
