“ummm in food no, but do you think you could try to find some more spell books? For beginners that is.” Hugging Shadow Angelo sighed. “I am sorry it took so long for me to learn. I will try to make up for the lost time.”
Shadow hugged him, patting his back. "It's all right. I'll see what I can do about the books. Angelo...be careful while I'm gone. If what is in the vision is true, you may be in danger, as well. Make sure everything is shut tight, and that you have an escape route."
“And you make sure you don’t do any magic or bite any one while you’re in town. My visions show you being attacked for both magic and being a vampire but never for both.” Reaching the house Angelo smiled. “I also don’t think it is today unless the clouds are going to be going any time soon. It was a clear day in my visions.”
"We should still practice being wary," Shadow asserted, pulling his hood up over his face and fetching his other silk cloaks. Quietly, he covered himself up. "I'll be back..." He stepped outside, heading for town.
“I will lock up when should I expect you?” Angelo said from the doorway. He really wanted to go with but he knew that he could not do it and still feel ok tonight.
"In an hour's time--I won't be long," Shadow assured him, smiling, as he walked away.
“ok I may still be asleep.” Shutting the door he locked it and then made sure all the other doors and windows were to. Climbing into his bed he sighed and pulled the blankets up to his nose. He still had not fully conquered his fear of being fully covered.
Shadow kept a low profile in town. He looked much like a noble--and there were quite a few nobles in this particular town, so he didn't stand out. He flitted around purchasing what he needed and haggling a bit. He was a master pick-pocketer, and in the crowded market, it was easy to pick-pocket and then disappear.
As Angelo fell asleep he found himself fallowing Shadow in town. “ok this is a very weird dream.”
(there will be NO magic books in town, they dont like spell casters and have burnt all the books) |
Shadow didn't stay long at the market. He purchased a few leisure books while browsing to see if there were any spell books--he didn't dare to mention them to anyone else who could help him find them--so he wouldn't look suspicious. After buying some more food items, he started on his way home.
watching him Angelo woke when Shadow was in sight. sighing he sat up to find he was still just as tired as he had been when he laid down. "So much for that." Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes he walked over to the door and opened it as Shadow come to it. "how was shopping?"
"Good. I did not find the books I wanted, but I did find some good reads, anyway," Shadow reported, stepping inside. "I did not do anything to reveal myself to the public." He headed to the kitchen to put the food items away.
Sighing Angelo leaned on the counter. “I know.” Was all he said.
Shadow threw a curious glance in his direction as he finished putting everything away. "And how do you know?" he asked, idly.
"my nap did not go as I had planed. it was more like I was fallowing you then napping." Angelo said tiredly.
"Ah...then you should get some more sleep," Shadow encouraged, kindly. "You don't want to get overtired, now...do you want me to rest with you?"
“I think that is the only way I am going to get to sleep. If I am worried about you I think I am going to follow you the way I did today at the market.” Blinking he sighed trying to get the sleep from his eyes. “I am sorry, I know you were going to weed the garden.”
"I will do that tonight," Shadow assured him, setting the books down on the dining room table. "Come, let's get some rest."
“Thank you.” Turning back to the bed room he stumbled and caught himself. “Ah I am being such a weakling these last few days.”
"It's all right, it's all right..." Shadow kindly helped him get to bed, and he crawled in beside him.
“Is this what it is going to be like for the next few months? Me being tried after each time that I practice magic?” Cuddling up to Shadow he sighed. “You know I don’t think I have heard your heart beat once. Is it true that you don’t have one or am I just missing it?”
"No, I have one. It's faint. Quite faint. You can only hear it if everything is silent..." Shadow informed him, quietly.
Laying his head on Shadows chest Angelo waited trying to hear this heart beat that Shadow said he had.
After a long while of silence, a very faint sound could be heard. It happened five times a minute, and it created a barely-there vibration on his chest. Shadow had a heart...it just worked differently than a human heart did.
Sighing happily he waited for it to beat again before smiling. “I like it, it is so nice.” He lay there slowly falling to sleep listening his lover’s heart.
