"Sure...but I can't sleep long if I am going to go and meet her," Shadow agreed, nodding. "Let's not oversleep..." He stood up and offered a hand to Angelo.
"then maybe you will just have to lay there and wait for the hours to pass as I sleep. you love watching me sleep dont you?" Angelo bounced up and grabbed his hand. "we just make a perfect pair dont we love." he leaned in and kissed Shadow. "you the worry wort and I the care free fool."
Shadow grumbled for a long moment about himself getting old before he led them back to his room. "I think I will sleep a bit. I am feeling a tad tired. I don't think I'll sleep past noon, though...if I am gone before you wake up, stay in the house."
"just wake me when you leave." Angelo smiled as he walked with shadow up the stairs to the room. he would clean up the kitchen latter when shadow was gone.
Shadow nodded as he stepped into the room. He sighed as he curled back up in bed. "I'm too old for all this stress...goodness, at this rate, all my hair will turn white and fall out even though I can't age. Gah..."
"then maybe we need to go some where were no one will look for us. where others in the group can do the worrying for you." suddenly he remembered an old family group that he had heard of from his grand mother. "I think we need to find some Travelers." when he said travelers he meant gypsy's, nomads that all seemed to despise, his kin folk.
"We could do that. But I would have to find some way to transport my garden. That is how I make money, for the most part--selling fruits and vegetables, and rare plants. It is also where I keep some of my Lampshades. Even if I find another way to blot out the sun, those are always there as a backup..." Shadow mused, wearily.
“we can keep them on the sides of the wagon’s have you ever noticed them there before. You can also do other things for a living with the Travelers. You can make potions to sell that really work not like what most family's sell.” He said as he curled up and snuggled back into shadow.
Shadow held him. amused. "I am a patient man, but I rarely have the patience to sit down and make potions. It is not a strong point of mine, and--though it would probably amuse you to see it and the look on my face when it happens--I often fail." He yawned. "Sleep is good...let's do that..."
"well then we will just have to live off my fortune telling abilitys." Angelo said as he fell asleep.
"Mm..." Shadow fell asleep soon after him, hoping he wouldn't sleep past noon or Angelo would wake up first to wake him up in time.
Angelo slept till near noon when again the dream of her started. he squirmed and twisted in Shadows arms.
Shadow was startled awake by his movements. He checked his homemade clock--which gave off a pale yellow light to indicate it was daytime--and then peeked in Angelo's mind, feeling he had a few minutes to get ready.
jolting to a sitting position Angelo blinked in the light. "what time is it?" he turned to look at Shadow.
"Right around noon," Shadow informed him, yawning and standing up. "I'm going to head out. If I get attacked in town, I should be fine--I can just teleport back here. But you need to be careful..."
"ok, I was going to clean up the kitchen since we really did not clean that up last night." Angelo stood up and got dressed. "maybe even weed the garden I wont go far."
Shadow nodded, pulling on his black outside robes and silks. "I will hold you to that...I will see you later." He headed down the stairs, and then stepped outside, his guard up the entire time.
Angelo walked slowly down the stairs and watched Shadow disappear into the wood towards the town. he would be safe, there were clouds in the sky. he looked up and then he saw the truth, the clouds that should have stayed all day were quickly burning away.
Shadow didn't notice the clouds. He was too busy having his guard up in town. Thankfully, since he was covered up now and hadn't been covered up in the forest, no one seemed to recognize him. Quietly, he searched for Kain.
As shadow walked through town he would notice that there was something off about the people. their clothes would look very familiar and then he would see her. then one with the hand print on her face looking directly at him. quickly she would turn to her neighbor and whisper something to him and he would look.
while he was in town angelo slipped to the pool and cast the last spell on the ring. it glowed with the magic the makings on it slowly fading. he had done it the spell would work. pulling the stone out he places a pinch of Lampshade in the hollow in the back of the ring. pushing the stone back into place he set it so it would never move again. it flared again this time he could see that the spell had take effect and would do what the lampshade did just Shadow would not have to eat it. running to the hill he waited for Shadows return, not even noticing that the clouds were all gone. |
After not finding her anywhere, Shadow decided to head back home. His barrier covered the house and some of the hills nearby, so he was sure Angelo would be safe. He headed out of town, noticing Angelo at the top of the hill.
As Shadow came out of the woods Angelo smiled and rose to greet him then he saw them. the villagers in his visions. He knew if he did nothing that weapon would kill Shadow but if he did the only thing available to him he would die. Having not once shown he saw them Angelo ran down happily holding out the black bag. He was not going to let shadow know they were there he would die for his master. The bag slipped from his fingers as the weapon struck him in the back. Shadow would catch him he knew that, the villagers would run in fear seeing they had killed a young man not a monster. He only wished he had not dropped the ring.
Shadow did catch him, and he caught him easily. Luckily, he also thought to catch the bag, as well. Thinking quickly, Shadow didn't spare the villagers another glance as he tended to Angelo. He used some healing magic in combination with quick but careful jerks to free the weapon from him. He had a feeling he was going to have to take drastic measures, but he was going to see if he could save him using normal means first.
The weapon would burn as he pulled it out. There was something on the wood and metal of it that burned when it touched Shadow. Angelo smiled a loving smile. “I knew you would catch me, but I lost your gift.” Shadow could hear the blood bubbling in his lungs as Angelo spoke. Reaching out he brushed at Shadows face. “I am sorry but I could not see you die.” a trickle of blood dribbled out of his mouth, as little droplets splattered every where his breath went.
Shadow tossed the remains of the weapon away, shaking his hand off--it had hurt him. He leaned down and kissed Angelo's cheek. "...This is going to be very painful...but I am going to rescue you. You are going to need to be as quiet as possible. Do you understand me?" Turning one into his variation of vampire, a Silverblood, was not an easy task. And it didn't matter if the body he was working with was dead or alive, either.
