Shadow knew the importance of not letting him wander off while he experienced this memory, and as such, he held him tightly, quite close to him. Once his breathing started to slow, he patted his head soothingly, still holding him. He knew he probably wouldn't be paying attention to what he heard, but he would pay attention to what he heard in his mind.
~...Do you believe me, now? It was a true memory...do you need some time to rest and think it over?~ |
"think...." Angelo seemed to worry the word for a bit before nodding. "I should." his voice was soft and without any feeling.
Shadow shifted and stood, out of the bed. He gently helped Angelo lay down and pulled the blanket up over him. ~Would you like something to eat or drink? I will fetch something for you, if you would like...~
"no" his voice was quiet as he flipped over so he was laying on his stomach.
Shadow nodded. ~All right...if you change your mind, let me know.~ He politely left so that Angelo could have some time alone. He did keep a mental eye on him, though, to make sure he didn't try to harm himself or the like.
crying Angelo let all his anger and fear out. he mourned for his family that now was lost, his friends he would never see again, and his sisters who had the gift but would never learn how to use it. the tears flowed as he lay there, his sprite broken with the loss. as the hours passed his eyes grew dry but he still sobbed the heaves shaking his small frame.
Once he stopped crying, Shadow decided to return. He knocked politely before slipping into the room, a glass of water in his hand. He sat on the edge of the bed, quietly. He gently reached out and touched his shoulder, offering the water. "Here. Your throat must hurt."
reaching out Angelo looked up at him with puffy red eyes. he sniffed his body still wanting to cry. taking the cup he drank it down. "thanks." his voice was barely a whisper as his throat was raw. he would not have his voice for the next day or so.
"You are welcome." Shadow kept his hand on his shoulder slightly--it was a rather reassuring touch. "Do you want to come down and eat something, now? You might not be hungry, but you should have something, to maintain your strength."
"no." he buried his head back into the pillow. he just wanted to be alone, he did not want to have any one around to see him crying even if he was no longer crying that hard.
Shadow sighed, then reached down and gently picked him up, so he was sitting up. He wiped at his tears, sympathetically. "...Listen...I know how it is to lose family, and friends. Have you questioned why I am completely alone, yet?" He did not like talking about why he had no one, no one at all, but if it would make Angelo feel that someone else understood his pain, he was willing to talk to him.
"no," Angelo looked a little sheepish. "could you leave me alone for a bit longer? I dont feel like talking."
Shadow nodded, but then paused. "...I will go. I need to go shopping today, anyway. But, at least promise me that you will eat something when I return. You'll need the energy." He stood up to leave.
"you leaving tonight?" Angelo looked back up at Shadow.
Shadow paused at the door, then glanced back. "Town is not far from here, so I will be back in an hour or two. I need to get some supplies for my kitchen, and other things, of course, that are running low. You're welcome to join me if you'd like some fresh air."
He paused. "Now that I think of it, now would be a good time to buy some decent clothing for you..." |
"I am not up to it. any ways Romans dont know decent clothes." turning back to the pillow he buried his face.
"I mean decent as in covering you up and keeping you warm and comfortable." Shadow frowned, suddenly. "I will see you in a bit. There is some bread in the kitchen if you get hungry, and there is always water." Without another word, he headed out of the room and consequently out of the villa.
He seemed pleased that Angelo had at least lost his need to be violent, but not his sharp tongue. |
crying into the pillow he slowly fell asleep. his dreams were filled with death and pain, memory's blurred with dreams.
An hour and a half later, Shadow returned. He'd purchased his kitchen supplies, of course, a few outfits for Angelo. He'd roughly guessed at his size, from having picked him up and held him so many times. He seemed confident about the size he'd chosen. After shelving his new kitchen supplies, he headed up to his room to put the clothing away.
Angelo was laying in the bed whimpering as he dreamed.
Shadow opened the door slowly, knowing he was asleep, and quietly crept over to where he kept his clothes. He had an empty drawer he never used, so he pulled it open and, after clearing out some dust, placed the new clothing inside. He didn't want to wake Angelo unless he was in a lot of distress. Idly, he checked on the dream he was having.
in his dream Angelo lived through the death of his family again yet now he was being asked why he lived when they were dead. then the faces of those that were tormenting him turned into his family's faces, mocking him.
Shadow walked over, slowly, and gently shook his shoulder. ~Angelo. You are having a nightmare. It is time to wake up.~
starting form sleep he let out a sad wimpier, his hands reached out but stopped. he wanted some tone to tell him it would be find it was just a dream but he know it was not. they would never come back.
Shadow wrapped a reassuring arm around his shoulders, tentatively. "I know how it feels. The pain will never go away, but you must learn to let them go. They would not want you to suffer for the rest of your life because of them...would they?" It sounded like Shadow was definitely talking from experience...
