Hair dying. ^^

Okay. My name is RainbowMuffinage and I reside in the rainy United Kingdom. I am currently thirteen years of age and I'm thinking of dying my hair an awesome colour this summer (( in six weeks time )).

This is my current hair colour. It's kinda a light auburn-ish colour. And, yes. I dyed my hair that colour. ^^

So, as you can probably tell, my parents are fine with me dying my locks as long as it's not too wild a colour.

I'm thinking of dying my hair either one of these colours. Help me decide ?

Red Passion

"Hayley Williams #1" *

"Hayley Williams #2" *

"Hayley Williams #3" *

"Hayley Williams #4" *

Dark Red *

* - I have yet to find the actual hair dye. A heads-up would be appreciated. (:

So, yeah. That's the choices. If you have any suggestions for other colours you think would suit me better than these, feel free to say so ! I don't bite ! =3

well since you are 13, I'd say stay away from the darker shades for now. I'm 18, and I've been dyeing my hair since I was your age (at first just streaks from leftovers when my siblings got their hair dyed). You want to work your way up to darker shades. I'd say either the red passions, or the Hayley Williams #1. Both are nice red shades, but they aren't too over powering. The other shades just seem a tad older... When you get to be about 16 (if you decided to dye your hair regularly) then you can start taking on the deep bold reds.

I'm a dirty blonde myself, but for the last 3 years it's been nothing but full reds. I love having red hair. Your like me, you have a great complexion for reds... I'd also stay away from colors like the williams #3. it's very orangey red and when it fades it will look like a pale orange, instead of a mohagany that will come when the red fades with your natural hair color.

But then again, this is all on you.

The Real Nikki 06-01-2010 05:29 PM

I pressed #2 when I meant to say #1 o.o My bad..
Anyways, I think that orange looks really cool and different. (:

Hair.

I personally like the dark red. It looks very similar to the color I usually dye my hair (my hair is dark brown naturally). I have gotten so many compliments on my hair when it's that color. But it's your decision, they are all interesting colors, although the orange seems like a bit of a "wild" color to me. I don't know if you are going to dye your hair yourself with a kit from the store or if you're going to get it done by a professional at a salon. If you get it done at a hair salon then you can ask the opinion of the hairdresser as well, since they would know more what would look good with your skin tone and things like that. I always get my hair done professionally because I'm terrified of doing it myself and messing up. XD I usually print off pictures like what you posted to show the color and/or hairstyle I want. Also as a heads up, if you are doing this yourself, if you chose the blond color, that can be tricky to do. My friend once tried to turn her hair blond and it ended up a bright glowing yellow shade, not natural looking at all. So I don't suggest trying the blond unless you do get it done professionally or have someone who knows what they are doing help you, or you've done it yourself before and know how.

I'm biased, because I've had the same color as the dark red you posted.

I would recommend, however, going a bit darker and kinda purplish, especially if your hair is naturally light. Blue hues in the dye will keep you from looking ginger-ey as the color fades..

If you're not going to strip out the auburn though, you might not need to go darker to keep it darker, longer. I would still recommend a bluish tint though, since your auburn is a bit on the warm side.

My natural hair is a fairly light golden-blonde, so going a few shades darker at first definitely helped me keep the color for much longer than it did when the salon did my hair for me, and the blue hues kept me from looking strawberry blonde.

Okay so one thing you should take in account when dying your hair is your skin tone. So I used the picture of what you said was what your current hair color is, assuming that that is you XD and then photoshopped it to put the hair you liked on it. I do this for myself when I'm trying to come up with a new hair style, but since that is not the case here, it is really messy and just shows what you look like with the hair near your skin. Nothing fancy, but:
Haley 4- blonde dark red Hayley 2 Hayley 3 Hayley 1 red passion

Based on that, I would say no to the blonde because it blends in too much with your skin tone. No to the dark red and hayley 2 because it makes you look very pale. . I'm a little iffy about hayley 1, because it just seems a bit dull compared to the other two. Yes to red passion and hayley 3. Personally I think red passion would be best, because the orange is very bright and might clash with clothes. So yeah if you have photoshop(or gimp) you can do this for whatever. as I said it's what I do XD it wasn't hard to do this cause I just wanted to show the hair against your skin and see how they looked together.

Keyori 06-02-2010 01:07 AM

Wow, I didn't even consider that, fuyumi xD

Though, I'm hella pale and chose a dark color anyway >_>

I would definitely agree with the no to the blonde though.

The Real Nikki 06-02-2010 03:42 PM

That is so cute, fuyumi. I'll have to do that some time. >_<
I still like #1.

RainbowMuffinage 06-02-2010 03:46 PM

Ohai, everybody ! (:

Cheers for all giving me advice and feedback on my hair dying dilema. I really appreciate it !

I'll most likely be going with "Hayley Williams #1", in all honesty.

I'll be sure to post a picture or something when I get it done ! ^^

Thanks again,

RainbowMuffinage.

Back when I was in Jr high school I tried to dye my hair bloned. but it did not work out cause my older sister did it for me. besides that I have nautral dark deep brown hair color so. no body would have ever know I tried to dye my hair that one time.

Keyori 06-02-2010 04:29 PM

Muffin:

I haven't been able to find that exact color anywhere, but if you lighten your current shade and use Herbal Essences henna red or flame red, you could probably get really close.

Codette 06-02-2010 05:34 PM

Henna red is a really nice color! I've used it, and I just fell in love!

RainbowMuffinage 06-02-2010 05:53 PM

Wow, thank you, Keyori !

I'm thinking of getting it done professionally, to be honest. I usually screw it up if I do it myself.

But, cheers for the info ! (:

Keyori 06-02-2010 06:40 PM

Lol, my experience has been the exact opposite. Going somewhere gets my hair streaky and the color doesn't stay in, but doing it myself comes out much better xD

RainbowMuffinage 06-02-2010 06:44 PM

I've never had it professionally done before. ^^

But, yeah. The last time I used a home-dye kit, my Mom did it.

Then it turned a freaky colour but we couldn't afford to get it corrected at the time.

The only problem is, as much as I wanna get my hair done ASAP, I'm trying to win my parents over so they'll let me go see Paramore in November. Like, as a joint birthday // christmas present for the next, like, three years. ;)

The only problem is, tickets are about £82 a pop, and another £82 for the booking fees. >.<

So, yeah. I might have to take it outta the bank or something to get my hair done. (:

musikfreakx 06-02-2010 06:58 PM

I've learned that in hair dying, you never want t go too far from your own shade. Your current hair color is almost the exact same as my natural color (mine is just a tiny bit redder naturally, and it has natural highlights). I am the same age and just a few days ago I dyed my hair about the color of red passion. It's just a teensy bit darker. Anyways, your skin color is similar to mine. So, definitely don't do the blonde. It is too close to the color of your skin tone and it will make you look really dull. Don't go too dark, so I'd stray from the last few options. Personally, I'd go for red passion. It will warm up your skin tone too because of the hues. If not red passion, go for a shade similar, or just a tiny eensy bit redder.

fuyumi_saito 06-02-2010 08:29 PM

Awesome can't wait to see what your hair looks like when it is done. I'm going to be dying my hair once I get out of college. Ah I dye mine mahogany. It looks like barbecue sauce the first few days after dying it but I like it after a week or so when it calms down XD

edit: If you are able to see paramore that would be awesome. If not, just remember that there will be other concerts..sad thing is though that as they get more famous the tickets will start costing even more -_-''

RainbowMuffinage 06-02-2010 08:33 PM

I know what you mean.

'Kuz the concert's in November, the regular tickets are £25 each and £25 for one order. There's four of us going so it'll be £125 in total. But, considering how much the VIP tickets cost, -- £85 each, the another £85 booking fee -- I think it's an okay deal. (:

fuyumi_saito 06-02-2010 08:36 PM

Yeah. I've only been to one concert, but Paramore is one of the few bands I like with a female singer. I'm so picky about the bands I like though XD

Have fun at the show!!

RainbowMuffinage 06-02-2010 08:40 PM

Thank you very much !

I gotta raise £75 in a few weeks. It's my birthday on June 30th though, so it shouldn't be that hard. ^^

Thing is, the guy I'm going with can't afford it right now so I'm paying for his ticket.

He owes me BIG time. :illgetu:

honeyblossomx 06-06-2010 07:23 PM

I think the 1st one and the Blonde one :) because you have quite a fair skin stone so you don't want to look even paler by going for something darker :D the orangey one is disgusting though, so definitely don't go for that :L

Modernesque 06-13-2010 08:27 AM

Because you're kind of pale, I would go darker instead of brighter. My roommate is really pale and has the perfect shade going on, IMO.
Her hair.

Out of the options you posted, I picked the dark red.
