Elder Scolls Oblivion and Sims franatics alike

Please what do you think of them???

Aetera 06-20-2010 05:01 AM

I really liked both of them. I liked Morrowind more than Oblivion, though. There was so much more to do, and so many more factions to join. It seemed odd to me that the sequel had less to do than it's predecessor. I still liked it, though.

This thread is making me want to play The Sims 3 again. D:

Kole_Locke 06-23-2010 05:34 PM

I haven't played sims before, perhaps I should give it a chance. Now, I have Elder Scrolls Four Oblivion and I absolutely love it. Morrowind, I have never played but once and it seemed like it could be very fun. Being spoiled on the awesome graphics has made me reluctant to play Morrowind again. I have spent playing the elder scrolls longer than I have any other game. I can't wait for the sequel to come out.

aphrodite remix 06-24-2010 01:49 PM

Haha, I just started playing Oblivion. I played it when it was first released but didn't get very far. But since I bought it on the Ps3 (got it for so cheap only 10 bones) I've been going through it. Seems pretty fun so far.

I'm not a "sims" fan. I like sim games, but not "the sims"

Antagonist 06-29-2010 07:59 AM

I love Oblivion, spent a year playing it and I've still yet to tire of it.
It fries up my laptop though, so I can't play it for too long at a time and have to let my laptop rest for a bit before continuing...otherwise everything becomes a lagfest and eventually the game crashes.
I love how you can download all sorts of mods and stuff from websites and get more quests and new items and factions into the game, it makes the whole thing even more complex. One of my favorite mods is the Thievery in the Imperial City, because it adds an 'Improved Sneak' to your character in the end and damage dealt by bows are increased dramatically. It makes it much easier for my character since I'm a Sneak type and like pelting my enemies with arrows from afar. xD

I haven't played the Sims in a while...I only have 2, yet to find the time and money to buy 3. It's still a major lagfest whenever I play it though...I need better visual cards. :(

I hope there'll be more Elder Scrolls games in the future. Would love something that takes place in Black Marsh or something, heard it was started but didn't get finished because of lack of popularity.

Sims is amazing... I haven't played elder scrolls properly though.

RainHitosha 07-14-2010 02:34 PM

yeah thats not strange XD nope not at all

Firashma 07-15-2010 06:37 PM

I haven't played the Sims in a long time but I have been addicted to Oblivion since i got the game I think about a year or two ago. Got the Game Of Year edition recently, Shivering Isles is awesome and the Knights of Nine questline gave me an armor that has only been replaced recently by the maddness armor from Shivering Isles. I own Oblivion for the Xbox 360 though so no mods from websites...:(. I got a question for everyone though, in Oblivion which is your favorite race to use? Mines the Redguard.

RainHitosha 07-16-2010 07:19 AM

I like being a Nord. My best friend likes being a dark elf. they're both pretty cool.. =)

----------

i love the glitches on oblivion. like when you kill someone in a house, drag them near a door, close the door on them and make them get stuck inside he door.. xD they start freaking out and its hilarious :P

----------

other than fallout 3, are there other games kinda like oblivion???

Sephiroth 07-16-2010 08:52 AM

My favorite's the Bretons, Khajits, and Argonians...I tend to favor non-human races more.

Those glitches are really funny sometimes. And one has to love all those Mods...I recently made some arrows that flew at 200 speed, (or maybe it was 2000, forgot) and I love watching those people fly off into the sky whenever I shoot someone...though it's not fun trying to look for the weapon they're holding, as those tend to shoot off like rockets everywhere after the guy/girl gets killed.

@RainHitosha: There's Morrowind, the game that came out before Oblivion. The graphics aren't as good and I don't there are voice-overs, but it's still pretty neat. Got a lot of quests and stuff to do, and I personally think it's easier when I'm typing out all the console codes, the item codes are easier to remember. Rather than something like '000ED942', you have it simply named as, "GauntletL" or "PauldronR", etc...
Though you have to be careful when jumping over a fence or torch. You get stuck easily and have to use the console code to phase through them or you'll be stuck on the stick like a dango, flailing around and unable to move.

RainHitosha 07-16-2010 09:05 AM

ive played morrowind a little bit before. yeah the graphics arent that great but i get kinda lost and confused xD

Antagonist 07-19-2010 01:04 PM

Morrowind's easy to get lost in, I keep wandering around in the Ashlands aimlessly, trying to find my way out. D:
So I was thrilled when I found out there was a fast-travel option in Oblivion...despite that it took me around a month before I found out about it. XD; (accidentally clicked on Chorrol one day while in the wilderness somewhere and suddenly found myself standing in the city after a loading screen)

I really hate those flying things in Morrowind, forgot what they're called but they're EVERYWHERE. Couldn't walk for two minutes without one of them screeching down onto my poor character's head. D: (which soon led me to permanently using the 100% Chameleon effect after a while...)

RainHitosha 07-20-2010 04:11 AM

that happened to me on oblivion too!!! i ran everywhere until one day i realized i could fast travel XD i felt like a tard

Antagonist 07-20-2010 09:20 AM

Yeah, that's how I felt too when I found out about it.
Though now I rarely fast-travel anymore either...I prefer using the consol. :XD 'player.coc ictalosplazadistrict01' and poof, I'm standing in the Imperial City. Or 'player.coc abandonedmine' and poof I'm in the mine.

I hate following those quest arrows and spend hours and hours (in-game time, that is) jumping through the wilderness, dodging wild bears, trolls, and ogres and minotaurs just to find some dingy little mine to deliver some weapons to a few idiot guild mates who don't even think twice before charging headlong into a pile of angry violent trolls with no thought of tactics at all. :gonk: (and getting themselves killed in the process...)

RainHitosha 07-20-2010 10:03 AM

i love how some of the ppl in the game act so stupid sometimes. like when you're fighting together and the other guy runs right in front of you when you're attacking something >=D hehe

----------

or when they follow you into your house >=D lol so many dead guards in the basement...

----------

Muahahahahaha!!

Sephiroth 07-20-2010 11:09 AM

lol I've gone one a few masscre sprees before while donning the Gray Fox mask, it was fun. :P
There were bodies lying everywhere in the cities, and by the end of it, the only ones left were the beggars and fellow Thieves Guild members. And of course, I've got a nice big fat bounty on my head + a ton of infamy points. >_>;

Though I think there a big mask glitch...I would don the mask, guards would rush over, I take the mask off, I get attacked anyways despite the description saying that people wouldn't recognize your character anymore after taking it off. Wtfffff. D:

RainHitosha 07-22-2010 08:40 PM

thats weird o.o i havnt really played with the mask that much. i think i wore it once lol i love games where you can just go kill everyone tho. its so fun >=D

Madness 07-30-2010 03:50 PM

I just recently bought and Xbox and Oblivion is one of the few games I have for it. A lot of my friends didn't like it while my boyfriend and most of his did, but I find it amusing. There seems to be a lot to do and I like just running around and doing what you like, the open-ended gameplay <3

Sims are love, I've played 2 and am currently addicted to 3, but I haven't bought any expansions because I'm worried about how much my computer can handle. I miss all the custom content out there for Sims 2, but the Sims 3 stuff is growing. I just adore the personality quirks.

The Roze 08-18-2010 08:55 PM

I play Oblivion. In fact, just today my brother got me the Shivering Isles expansion pack for my birthday :) I just went into a bookshop in New Sheoth and the lady there warned me that all of the men were hers before offering to sell me some books >_<
I always play as either Bosmer or Dunmer. Usually Bosmer though.

When I'm not in the mood for Oblivion I play the Sims 2. I can't be bothered getting the Sims 3 after all the effort I put into getting Sims 2 expansion packs

Rosamond 08-22-2010 05:17 AM

I'm not into Sims. I liked it when I first played it but it did not hold my interest. I hadn't played Elder Scrolls Oblivion before but my boyfriend just recently picked up the game. I just started playing today and I like it so far. :)

Nolori 08-24-2010 03:40 PM

I love both games. Both are so great for character development! (I basically use all games as way to play with my characters. xD [/one track mind].) I've played all sorts of races and I usually start off with Breton, otherwise I'm Kajiit or Argonian. Unlimited Nighteye or underwater breathing? Yes please!

I was never really into Morrowind because I first played it on the Xbox and the Xbox confuses the CRAP out of me. So I'm thinking of picking it up for PC and giving it another shot. It looks beautiful.

@RainHitosha: Pft. I didn't know you could move bodies in Oblivion? I'll toss around ant bodies in Fallout 3, but I've never been able to manage it in Oblivion. How did you do it?

@Sefirosu: That's weird. Maybe once they go into agression mode they don't stop? Did you try talking to them? Sometimes that fixes it on my game. Also maybe the psychic guards fix will fix that too?
Or maybe the guards just really are psychic! DUN DUN DUUN

The Roze 08-24-2010 03:45 PM

I use Light instead of Nighteye. If I remember right, Nighteye makes everything go blue >_<

On the PC, you can move things (and bodies) around by holding the z key on an object and moving the mouse around. I don't know how if you don't play it on the PC though

Nolori 08-24-2010 09:26 PM

@The Roze: The blue ever really bothered me. Actually I tend to see better with it than with Light in caves/dungeons. It takes away from the pretty scenery outside, though.

And yeah I can move objects just fine with teh z key, the bodies never worked for me. Huh. Next time I fire up the game I'll see if maybe I'm just stupid/uncoordinated. xD

The Roze 08-24-2010 09:33 PM

I put up with the blueness of Nighteye until my brother showed me that Light existed. It make sit easier for people to see you when you're trying to sneak, but the ring I made which gives me Light also boosts my sneak skill, so it's fine ^^
Bodies are a bit harder to move around than normal objects, I find, but it should work. Try moving around the individual limbs, and not the body as a whole.

Kole_Locke 08-24-2010 11:28 PM

I like Elder Scrolls Four Oblivion, I need to spend some time on it and enjoy it. I haven't really played much since I have been playing my new Dragon Queset IX game which I just recently lost.
