Léan slid his arm under her when she reached him and guided her around in a few large circles, showing her the proper movements. He angled her tail himself, helping her to learn how to control it.

Emy smiled a little embarrased that she did so horribly. But did everything that he told her to. She got better as they went, though still looked a little awkward.

Léan didn't seem to have to mind teaching her. He sighed, once she'd seemed to have gotten the hang of it, for the most part. "All right...we will have to leave in the morning--let's find a place to sleep for the night. There is one more thing we need to do to complete your transformation. We need to get some marconium. Although you have changed, your eyes are still mostly human, and therefore cannot see that well under the water. With marconium, seeing underwater will be like seeing on land for you..."

Emy smiled when she felt like she was doing good. Then looked at Leandre and sort of rubbed her head a little. "Umm...yeah. You're fuzzy." Then she blinked a little bit. "I have a question...will I only need it once? Or constantly?"

"Just once. It rarely wears off--it's given to infants who have trouble seeing underwater..." Léan yawned, as he turned and started to head towards the ocean floor, and farther out to sea at the same time. "Follow me."

Emy was relieved that she most likely wouldn't have to use it more than once. That'd be really annoying for her. Then she watched him swim away and followed as best she could. When she finally caught up, she looked exhausted.

Léan was scoping the ocean floor--they weren't too far out--for a good cavern to rest in. He closed in on a promising pile of rocks and swam around it. "Here..." There was a cave in the middle of the pile of rocks, big enough for both of them. "This should do. It's tucked out of sight...you can go in, first."

Emy swam up to him and looked inside the cave. It was alot less nice than anything she'd ever slept in...but she'd take anything at the moment. She swam in and tucked herself into the back. She had a oddly hard time manuvering her tailfin.

"Usually, I would spend a longer time looking for a nicer resting place, but we are both very tired and won't last much longer...so this will have to do for tonight," Léan murmured, coasting into the cave after her and curling up next to her. The water was very cold at the moment, but it would get a bit warmer once the afternoon rolled around.

Emy nodded slightly when he spoke, then watched him come in and culr up beside her. A smile came onto her face, then she closed her eyes. "Good night, Leandre." Then she slowly went to sleep.

"Good night." Léan drifted to sleep a little more slowly. He was always wary when finding a place to sleep in for the night. He could never be sure if it was already occupied or not.

Emy woke up about 5 hours later, she looked around. Then quietly slipped out of the cave. She stretched and swam around in circles for a minute.

Léan heard her wake up, but didn't stir himself for a few more minutes. He was always grumpy after he woke up. He sat on the edge of one of the rocks, scratching his head and stretching himself out, hoping to shake the sleep off quickly.

Emy smiled at him when he came out, then continued swimming around. Now that she had slept, she could swim alot better than before. She felt great.

Léan swished his tail back and forth a few times, then yawned. "Aahh...we should move out a little more...the only belongings I possess are still in the Bering Sea...plus, we have to catch some food. I am sure you're hungry...I am." He paused. "Which ocean are we in?" He knew the human names for oceans, so he would be able to judge distance.

Emy blinked, then stopped swimming in circles. "Umm...we are still in the gulf. Gulf of Mexico....thats quite a ways from the Bering Sea." She blinked and tried to concentrate on him.

"We may have to make a detour, then, if we want to make good time," Léan mused. "Cut across the United States, through rivers..."

Emy smiled then. "I could help with that. I'm a wiz at geography. Especially with the US." She smiled and flipped her tail a little. She was having fun experimenting with her new tailfin.

"Is it possible for you to plan a proper route without a map?" Léan asked, curiously. "...You could go and fetch one on land, if you need one. But you would need to find clothing..."

Emy nodded happily. "Yep. But, I'd need to know the weather and daily current." She blushed slightly and nodded. "If you want me to get a map I will."

Léan shook his head. "If you don't need a map, there's no need to make it any harder than it has to be. As for weather and daily current...I'm afraid I have no way of predicting or knowing either of those in advance..."

Emy smiled and nodded. "Ok. Weather isn't hard to navigate around. Though, we'd have to be careful....the Mississippi would be the quickest way to start with...but...it'd be dangerous in the beginning because of the gators..."

Léan shivered. He'd dealt with many different kinds of aquatic predators before, including great white sharks and saltwater crocodiles. But, that wouldn't mean they would be safe. "We should be properly equipped before we go, then," he murmured. "You cannot see correctly, and we are both unarmed. We should try to find a settlement nearby before we do anything else."

Emy nodded slightly. "um...when you say settlement...human or mer?"

"A settlement of my kind," Léan replied, quietly. "If we look hard enough, we should be able to find someone willing to give us some marconium. I cannot just go and ask around willy-nilly...as you have probably guessed, my kind is not fond of humans as a whole...if I ask for marconium, they will make assumptions...and we may be chased out, violently."
