"I never said I was blaming you," Jason pointed out as he went around the truck. Unfolding the wheelchair, he set it down so Nathaniel could reach it, and then reached over to take Riley. "But you have to admit that I might actually be right."
|
"Well... is it so wrong to worry more about my fiance than my future brother in law? Especially right after we got back from a miniature war? I'm sorry, I am... But if you want, I can try and get a reading from you now... About Tomikos arrival, but that's all I can do." He said, sliding into the wheelchair. He wheeled himself into the house and held out his arms for Riley. "you are welcome to stay babe."
|
Jason handed him Riley.
"Don't waste your energy," he said. "I get the feeling you're going to need it, and you don't have much right now to begin with, no offense." Reaching into the truck, he pulled out the car seat. "Where do you want this thing?" |
"Just set it down in his room. And Jason... I'm sorry I couldn't warn you, but there was nothing you could have done." He said before wheeling Riley to the livingroom and set him down in the play pen. He turned on TV and sighed, flicking towards the news. He disliked the fact he missed stuff, missed a lot of stuff actually. He watched quietly as he lifted himself to the couch, ready to be a couch potato while his son played.
|
Jason nodded and put the carseat into Riley's room. When he came back out, he made sure to check his pockets to make sure he didn't set his keys down anywhere. He had a habit of doing that, and always checked.
"Alright, I'm out, then," he said. "You need a ride back tomorrow?" He ignored what Nathaniel said before, since nobody was perfect, and he was over it already. |
"Yeah, that would be cool. Thanks." He said and nodded, watching the male leave. Once he was gone he pulled out his cell phone to call and keep electricity and everything on and to charge his card for what was needed. He hated being hurt right at the end of the month.
|
Back at the hospital, Andy was alternating between sleeping and being bored out of her mind. The TV in her room didn't work all that well, and she didn't have a roommate to chat with at all, so she really had nothing to do. Calling her phone over to her, she sent a text to Nathaniel.
Love you. Miss you. |
Nathaniel looked at his phone and smiled, texting back: I love you too. More than you know. Miss you too.
He shut his phone and touched his leg, wishing his power was rapid healing instead of seeing the future when he was already healed. It was doing him no good whatsoever in any way shape or form. He frowned, darnit, it itched!! He grumbled and reached out to change the channels again. "Whaddaya say Riley? The Rugrats?" He said and left it on the channel. |
---
It took a while, but Andy's hip slowly healed. By now, Riley's first birthday had come and gone, and it was almost October again. From what she had heard, Tomiko was back from Japan, but was making trips back every so often, though none were as long as the first one. Andy was outside with Riley, making piles of leaves for him to play in. Riley threw the leaves around and laughed, happy. |
Nathaniel sat just inside the doors, a sketchpad in hand and a charcoal pencils sitting beside him as he watched his son. He'd contracted a studio to wrap around the backyard, with a childs playroom on one end and a studio for him, and a study room for Andy to do whatever she wanted in it. He knocked on the window and showed her the picture of her and Riley playing.
She was so gorgeous. They still weren't married, he was starting to think that they'd never get married. But she wasn't telling him much. He was just along for the ride. Not to mention, he still had to get wedding ring. He cringed, not sure what to get her. |
Andy turned around when Nathaniel knocked on the window and grinned. The picture was good, and she liked it. Reaching down, she picked up Riley and settled him on her hip before going over to her fiance. Opening the door with her powers, she leaned down and gave him a kiss.
"You may want to pack that up in a little while," she said. "I made you an appointment to shop for a tuxedo, you and Riley." She grinned. "I hired a wedding planner, and we need to decide on a date. I kind of want it to be in January, or February... What do you think?" |
Nathaniels eyes widened and his hand slid around her neck. He kissed her back with a smile and shook his head. "The sooner the better. January." He said and laughed. "Thank you, thank you thank you! I'm glad you have plans starting, I just... Thank you." He said and laughed, kissing her again.
He then frowned. "Sorry." He said as he saw her neck. "Charcoal..." He muttered and pointed and then got his art supplies away before washing up and then taking Riley. "You wanna get a tux, little man?" Riley nodded and slapped his dads shoulder then clutched on in a childlike manner. |
Andy laughed a bit and returned the kisses, letting him take Riley.
"January, alright," she replied. "That gives us right around three months to plan this thing. I'll work with the wedding planner to figure out the exact date, and then we can send out invitations." She sat down next to him. "I didn't mean to wait so long, but I didn't want to worry about this while we were recovering." |
"It's fine, Andy. I just... I didn't want to have proposed to you and then never... finish it. I knew we'd get married eventually, I just, I like having a date. I don't mean to rush it." He said and then smiled silently. "Which tux shop did you set up?" He asked as he brushed a leaf out of Rileys hair. "This means your getting a haircut little man." He said and laughed, moving to put a jacket on while he set his son down.
|
"This must be one of those things dictated by fate," Andy said as she picked another leaf from Riley's coat. "Remember, when you proposed, you said have the wedding in seven months?" She looked at him. "January will be almost exactly seven months from when you proposed, so we would be having a winter wedding anyways." She didn't mention that the date was the same regardless of her miscarriage a few months before. Neither of them really needed the reminder.
|
He smiled and grabbed the shop card from the bulletin board. "At least you'll look great in your dress." He said and shrugged, kissing her cheek and smiled. "Oh, I had a vision this morning before you woke up, before you get a vera wang dress, keep looking around. I didn't like the style your mother picked out." He muttered and shuddered. "Made you look fake. And cheap." He said and then pinned the picture of Riley up and kissed her cheek again. "We'll see you later today then? Do you want to meet us in town for dinner?"
|
"Now that's not fair," Andy said as she gave Nathaniel a kiss. "You're not supposed to see me in my dress before the wedding." She kissed Riley's forehead, making the child giggle. "Anyways, I'll make sure to pick a nice dress. Once I pick one, I'll have dress fittings to schedule and other such things. Now, you go on, let me know when you're done and I'll meet the two of you for dinner."
|
Nathaniel laughed and lifted his arms. "You say that like I have a choice. You know I don't have good control of my powers yet, I'm still working on that." He said and kissed the girl softly. "I'll see you later." He said and grabbed his keys. "I'll text you later. Think of a place to eat."
He got Riley in his car and buckled him in. He got in the front and started the car. He drove off, getting to the tux shop within minutes. An hour later Riley was spinning in circles in a little tux. Nathaniel took a picture of him on his phone and sent it to Andy. Just about done here. Where to eat? |
Andy had just been finishing going over some wedding details with the wedding planner when she got the picture from Nathaniel. She and the wedding planner cooed over the picture of Riley for a few moments before they wrapped up the meeting. Then Andy sent a text back.
Done as well here. How about something Asian for dinner? |
Sounds great. 1 hour at China Star. ILY.
Nathaniel sent a text back and then smiled at Riley. He had just pulled up to the mall when he sent the text message. He got Riley out of the car and smiled. "Come on buddy, we've got a ring to pick out." He said and grinned. He didn't know what his fiance would like but he knew what he wanted. He wanted something that would match any ring she picked out. and he wanted it engraved and he figured he had time so he would use it to pick it out. He took Riley to the jewelers, and Riley was immediately cooed over. "Riley, which one do you think is pretty?" He was pointing to simple bands but Riley chose a diamond female ring. One with a strange and intricate arch. "You think Mommy would like that?" It wasn't a wedding ring, but coming from Riley it wouldn't matter. It was just a nice ring. with a matching necklace right above it. "I would like the silver band on hold for me and the ring in a size 6 and a half, and the necklace for now." He said and pulled out his credit card. 30 Minutes later Nathaniel and Riley were out of the car, Riley clutching a little bear holding a box of jewelery. |
Love you too. <3
Andy got into her car, a new one that she reluctantly let Nathaniel buy for her, and headed off towards the Chinese place. She was looking forward to seeing her fiance and son again; she'd missed them. When she pulled into the parking lot, she spotted Nathaniel's sports car and parked next to it. She walked into the Chinese place and found her family easily. "There you two are," she said as she sat down at the table. She leaned over and kissed Riley's forehead, and then gave Nathaniel a proper kiss. "How was the tux shopping?" |
"Great, the ring shopping not so much. We're going to have to go in sometime." He said and then smiled. "Riley got you something though. Riley, show Mommy what you got." He said and then kissed her back. "The waitress is going to get our drinks, ready to get some awesome buffet food Riley?" He asked his son who was holding out the bear to his mother.
|
Andy took the little stuffed bear from Riley when he held it out to her.
"It's adorable, baby," she said to him. She kissed his forehead again. "Thank you." Taking the little box from between the bear's front paws, she opened it and gasped a little. "It's beautiful..." She looked at Nathaniel. "You didn't have to get me this..." |
"He liked it. So I got it. You know it isn't a problem." Nathaniel said and kissed her again gently. "Come on, Chinese buffet. Yum." He said, trying to get Riley psyched for chinese. He was eating tough meat at this point with his teeth. He was a fast grower from the beginning. "Chicken?" He asked and Riley nodded. He did this with about every food and Nathaniel made one large plate for them to share. "At least he didn't get stuck on no."
|
Andy slipped the box of jewelry into her purse and got up with Nathaniel and Riley. Reaching over, she took her son.
"Come on, baby," she said. "Let's find something you'll like." Going up to the buffet, she took a plate in her free hand and started slowly walking up and down the buffet bar and let Riley look at everything. |
