Then, she will use a small safety pin to systematically pop each balloon until she floats safely back onto the stage. She will then autograph any remaining balloons and pass them on to small children.

This stunt is very dangerous, and requires several special components to her costume. First and foremost, she represents her team with her stylish jester hat. Appearance is everything! The goggles are to protect her eyes from unfavorable weather conditions in the sky, and to keep birds from pecking her eyes out for invading their air space. Next, she is holding on to several mis-matching balloons. She requires so many balloons that she bought out all of the balloons that existed on the island of Menewsha! (She certainly feels fat)

She is wearing a walkie headset to keep in communication with the ground coordinator, who will direct her safe landing. She is also wearing a wide skirt with a cage. Should she enter free-fall, the skirt will act as a parachute, slowing her fall, and the cage helps keep the skirt from inverting like an umbrella in a bad rain storm. She is also wearing a helmet should she hit her head on a tree branch on the way back down, and she has a pair of emergency anklewings to also help slow her descent, and to help her more easily change direction so that she does not land on an undesireable target, such as a large cactus, porcupine, or Yumeh.

What makes this act unique is not only that it occurs primarily underwater, but that the Lady of the Puddle performs her amazing feat of fish-taming while covered in roses (which is uncomfortable what with the poking of the thorns and all that) and while wearing a brass monocle (which makes her head slightly heavier than it would ordinarily be)!

As the designer, I will now discuss the components of the costume. Belly’s hair must be wrapped and flattened down so that she may wear a sleek diving wig in a bright green, one of the traditional theme colors of the Feast of Fools. She will apply large yellow flowers at each temple (another of the Feast’s lovely colors), as well as donning a generous waist sash in the same shade of yellow that gently cascades downward from her round bottom to her heels. Now here’s where the outfit becomes a bit dangerous: her brave teammate Linnea will then begin to gently wind a brambly vine of wild roses around her body, from head to toe. We chose pink for a touch of femininity. Belly must be very careful not to sneeze at this point, so Keyori will have to stuff a small marshmallow into each nostril (and hopefully remember to remove them later). The final touches will be to assemble the special snorkel, made with bits of an old steampunk hat, and then affix the special brass diving monocle. Voila!

OPENING DAY ACTS:

Team Name: Gypsies
Task #: 4

Spectacular! Daring! Awe-inspiring!

These are just a few words that describe the show put on by the Menewshan Gypsies yesterday. The Gypsies dazzled people with beautiful music, exotic dancing, enchanting magic acts and dangerous acrobatics. Crowds 'Ooh'ed and 'Ah'ed as they watched the performers jingle, tumble, sing and chant. The bright colors gave a feast to the eyes as silks and ribbons flowed from the dancers costumes, giving an elegant feel to the energetic movements. The well-composed music really gave the patrons a feel for the entire show, accompanying all the acts with cheery tambourine tempos to melodramatic violin work. The night of dancing, sword balancing and future-reading was a huge hit.

But that's just what is seen on the stage. The men and women who put it all together had an amazing time as well. They worked hard to make sure each and everything was in it's place. Each costume was artfully made, Each prop was spit-shinned and the decorations were skillfully made. Not only that, but they worked tirelessly on each act, meticulously practicing each movement.

"It was hard getting everyone together at the right moments and perfecting all the routines... but I think that it's well worth it. Even though our camel did eat a hole in Kage's pants... at least that kept him from complaining about it being too hot to juggle his swords." Says Feyona, one of the performers.

"I can't tell you all the hours I've spent practicing, but it doesn't matter, It's all worth it." Says Kage, swordsman and acrobat.

They all agree that the work was tough and exhausting, but like any good performers, they love what they do. I think we can all expect to see them again in the future as the performers say:

"I think it went marvelously! I haven't had this much fun in a long time and I would do it again in a heartbeat."- Feyona

" I'm still grinning like an idiot from the success! I would go through all of it again, even the Camel incident." -Kage
Quote:

This is one of the worse pieces of trash I've ever wasted my time on. I thought that they were joking when they said fire-breathing camels... but NOOOOO. Not only did it breathe fire, but it set a piece of the stage on fire and scorched my FAVORITE HAT! The nerve of such camels! The sword thrower was decent...but the dancers were just a little bit off sync and the fortune teller was complete rubbish. I will NOT fall in love with another girl I'm certain of that. Humph! Aside from that, the stage decorations were shotty and it was WAY too loud. I don't think I have ever been more disappointed in anything in my entire life. My friends TOLD me I should have gone to the Opera instead like I really wanted to, but I decided to give it a try. Ha... never again. It also seemed like it was over too soon. They should have had more performances. Here is some of the things the "performers" had to say about their sorry, sad performances.

"Sometimes it felt like the crowd wasn't all that into some of the acts, but hey, not everyone likes the same things." - KageShio

"I have to admit it could have been a lot better... there was a point that I lost my balance for just a little bit while I was dancing and almost fell over completely." -FeyonaSaibre

"I'm really glad that I managed to fix my slip-up, I could have hurt myself bad with those torches.... Luck 'o the irish, ne? Well, that is, if I was Irish." - KageShio

"I'm just happy it's all said and done with. I mean, a lot of fun though it may be... I do get so tired after dancing all day." - FeyonaSaibre

Subject: Feast of Fools!

Hey, Vicky! I was just wondering if you'd like to help out with the Feast of Fools event~
I think you'd be a great addition to the team, especially with your baking skills!

In return, you'd be given free reign over a section of the festival, all decorated in pink and red.
And don't worry, you'd most likely be given free food and drink, as well.
Hope to see you there!

Subject: Feast of Fools!

Tesel! Haven't seen you around in a while, so I was considering asking you to join in
on the event this year! The Feast of Fools would be a great way to get you socializing with
the rest of Menewsha's citizens.

That, and you'd probably make people feel safer if you were around.
You'd get a full salary, just for walking around and talking!
Consider it, okay?

To: The Toymaker

Subject: The Feast of Fools!

Hello, there~
I haven't talked to you much before, but the gypsies of the Feast of Fools
caravan would like to invite you to the festivities this year!

We've seen your toys and other creations, and it'd be wonderful if you could
supply us with them for prizes.
In return, you'd be supplied with the top-quality lodging room, and a salary.
Also, your toy materials would be supplied.
Thanks for your time!

-Silver <3

Okay, for all these people, the reasons are as follows.

If we had Vicky around, not only would people be inclined to visit and say hello to her, we'd also
be getting huge amounts of freshly baked treats to pass out to festival goers!
She's also quite a wonderful soul, and Im sure that her personality will provide a charming atmosphere for
the Feast of Fools event!

I'm a bit concerned about her being around Tesel, but that can be fixed, right?
We can keep them at opposite ends of the festival at all times. And if they run into each other anyways...
I have a solution.

Tesel can be a bit abrasive at times, but that's why we want her out there socializing!
Having her come out of her shell at the Feast of Fools would be wonderful. She'd probably be a bit happier,
and might even meet a few new friends.

Also, her skills in pudao fighting would make everyone feel so much safer at night, or even in the day.
It's nice to use local security, isn't it? Then you know you're going to be safe.
Once again, Vicky and her... Together = Problem.

But that's why we have the Toymaker!
Not only does he have the skills of a master when it comes to toys and games -
He's also wise and calm. I think he's the perfect candidate for solving any Tesel and Vicky problems, should they arise.

Providing him with materials in return for top-quality items and beautiful prizes? Worth it!
We'll just have to make sure he gets them on time.
Boy, that would be a disaster if he didn't have anything to work with.

I was also considering getting him to build some props for the gypsy stage.
We can always use more of those!
Maybe some trees, chairs... The works!

Hm. Now I really hope they can all come.
Guess I'll just have to wait for the E-Mail.

Haven 07-14-2010 09:32 PM

@Happy - I don't know. > o> He's a very busy Ham-Ham, he might not have time to hug you. O:
But you can try~ 8D
